Alfie Moore: Acopalypse Now

Alfie Moore: Acopalypse Now

13 Sept 2025 - 11 Sept 2026

Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie’s natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie’s angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history. Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police. In his 40s the two universes collided when Alfie made a bid for showbiz success – but unfortunately 30 years of shift-work and being punched in the face quite a lot, had left him with ‘a face for radio’. A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair. This is the true story of ‘Fair Cop’ Alfie’s big plan to transition from the BBC radio waves to TV star. Could it be done? Or had Father Time decided that his time had passed?

Ncf Comedy Presents David Eagle's Funny Flim Flam For A Fiver
At the time of writing (June 23rd), I have absolutely no idea what this show will be about. But rest assured, by the time November 4th rolls around, itll be a rigorously structured, fastidiously finessed, highbrow, erudite, thought-provoking, profound work of art. It might even be funny. Based on where I am with it now, itll almost certainly involve me banging on about being blind (still milking that), getting the accordion out (because I know how to whip a crowd into a frenzy), and singing a few silly songs possibly one about a misunderstood pigeon. I might tell you about my first ever gig at a Teddy Bears Picnic (aged five I absolutely smashed it), talk a bit about meditation, Catholicism, and 1950s radio detectives; do some Dalek impressions; and recount the time I judged a childrens talent show and things got awkward. I might even play you a recording of a song I wrote when I was seven about a boy in our street who pissed himself. My last show won multiple awards, so I was clearly pretty good at comedy in 2024. That means its statistically likely this one will at least surpass mediocrity maybe even approach adequacy! If my scintillating sales pitch hasnt quite sealed the deal, I should probably mention that Ive done stand-up on Rosie Joness TV show, and made multiple appearances on BBC Radio 4 comedy programmes. And here are a few nice things that more successful comedians have said about me: David is brilliantly clever, musical, moral. Brilliant/nuts. Heartily recommend! Rufus Hound My God, David Eagle makes me laugh. A ludicrously amusing gentleman. Miles Jupp David's a unique and very funny comedian. This debut hour comes highly recommended.
