Discharge

Discharge

7 Nov 2025 - 20 Dec 2025

“Can you hear the sound of an enormous door slamming in the depths of hell…?”Not only is this the chilling description given of a nuclear detonation during one of the sound-bite samples on the first Discharge album, but it’s also a perfect description of the Stoke, UK-based punk band that turned the world of underground music on its head with their primal bursts of uncompromising speed and aggression. Formed in the late Seventies Discharge changed the face of punk – and indeed extreme music itself – with their stunning ‘Realities Of War’ EP, a four-song outpouring of pure intensity that boiled punk down to its basic components of rage, frustration and violent rebellion. Discharge stumbled upon a sound that was so ugly, it was beautiful; so horrifying, it was irresistible – and it ushered in a whole new wave of gnarlier, nastier UK punk, and ultimately paved the way for hardcore and thrash.

Formed in Nice in 1992 around Sébastien (vocals), Franck (guitar), Chrys (bass) and Roma (drums), Corpus Delicti's melodic, hard-hitting post-punk rock immediately made an impact, with their debut album 'Twilight' (1993) becoming a benchmark for the genre. Fusing the best of post-punk with remarkable energy, creativity and melody, the band made a name for themselves abroad with a US tour and concerts in Europe. After two more beautiful albums, they broke up in 1997. But since then, thanks to a loyal community of fans connected all over the world, the cult around Corpus Delicti has continued to grow. A comprehensive biography ("La Déliquescence des ombres" by Tony Leduc-Gugnalons) was even published by Camion Blanc in 2011. In 2019, the American label Cleopatra signed the band for a series of reissues, and Corpus Delicti is now being rediscovered by a younger audience. After Crass stopped performing in 1984, he worked with other groups including Conflict, Schwartzeneggar, Stratford Mercenaries, Current 93, and US punk band Thought Crime, as well as occasional solo performances. Steve is also a wood sculptor and volunteer on the Sea Palling Independent Lifeboat, has written his autobiography All The Rest Is Propaganda- and has worked as a traditional Punch and Judy performer using the name Professor Ignorant. Steve is now performing with his new band Slice Of Life. A far cry from the aggression of Crass, nevertheless compelling with powerful songs delivered in an acoustic style. Impossible to categorise, Slice Of Life's music is up-front and soul-baringly personal. It's a mixture of songs and spoken word that draws you in and stays with you long after the final note has been played. Debut album Love And A Lamp-post was released on Overground records in late 2014, surprising many with its honesty and change of style for Steve. A new bassist followed in early 2015, along with new songs and extensive touring all over the UK, as well as dates in Finland, and festival slots at Rebellion, Wickerman and Something Else A Bit North.

Jim Bob

Jim Bob

13 Mar 2026 - 28 Mar 2026

Jim Bob was born to two parents Frank and Jenny. Jenny was a singer, long distance swimmer and speed skater, while Frank was a theatre stage manager and carpenter. So, as show business, showing off and to a lesser extent carpentry was in the blood, Jim set out on the yellow brick road to fame and fortune. Following years of pop struggle Jim would release his first records with the band Jamie Wednesday, whose horn section Jim would work with again fumfty years later as a solo artist (when Jim was reading a book about learning to play the recorder and discovered it was written by Jamie Wednesday sax player Simon). After Jamie Wednesday Jim Bob formed Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine with guitarist Fruitbat. Together as Carter they would have 14 top 40 singles and four top ten albums (including a number one), selling over a million records and touring the world. With Carter, Jim Bob would become known for his socially aware pop lyrics and in particular his use of puns. Carter split in 1997 but reformed ten years later for two massive sell out, life affirming gigs that would lead to more sell out Carter shows in 2008 and 2009. In 2011 they headlined the Beautiful Days festival in Devon and three more Carter gigs followed in 2012: Glasgow, Leeds & London. Finally in 2014, the last Carter shows were announced: A headline slot at the Bearded Theory Festival, a BBC 6music live performance from Maida Vale and two last hurrahs in London. The 5,000 capacity Brixton Academy gig sold out in minutes. Outside of Carter Jim Bob has had a long and varied solo career. He has released eight albums solo and with his discopoppunk band Jim's Super Stereoworld. Jim's autobiography 'Goodnight Jim Bob On The Road With Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine' was published by Cherry Red Books in 2004 to critical acclaim. Jim has written songs for Ian Dury and for the 2006 Barbican production of Mark Ravenhill's Dick Whittington & His Cat, directed by Edward Hall and starring Trigger from Only Fools and Horses. In August 2010 he made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in the Ward and White musical 'Gutted, A Revenger's Musical'. His seventh solo album 'A Humpty Dumpty Thing' came with a mini novel 'Word Count', which Jim adapted as a screenplay for a Hollywood production company. His eighth solo album 'What I Think About When I Think About You' was recorded with 26-piece The Mystery Fax Machine Orchestra. Jim Bob has written four novels; 'Storage Stories' (Ten Forty Books), 'Driving Jarvis Ham'(Harper Collins), the award winning best seller 'The Extra Ordinary Life of Frank Derrick, Age 81' (Pan Macmillan) and its follow up 'Frank Derrick's Holiday Of A Lifetime' (Pan Macmillan), published under the name J.B. Morrison and translated into French, Italian, German and Dutch.

The radio and television personality loved what he heard and invited Canaan to appear on the Bobby Bones Show reaching over 9.2 million listeners and changing the course of his career. The Nightingales

The Nightingales

19 Feb 2026 - 1 Mar 2026

Described in John Robb's definitive book on 'post punk' (Death To Trad Rock) as 'The misfits' misfits' and comprising an ever fluctuating line-up, based around lyricist/singer Robert Lloyd, the Nightingales enjoyed cult status in the early 80s as darlings of the credible music scene and were championed by John Peel, who said of them: 'Their performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from the 1980s to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand revealed as charlatans.' The group recorded a bunch of critically acclaimed singles (almost always 'Single Of The Week' in the music press) and three albums, plus many radio sessions for their great supporter Peel. They also regularly toured the UK and Northern Europe, as headliners and supporting acts as diverse as Bo Diddley and Nico. Since re-grouping in 2000 they have played Glasto, SXSW etc and headlined Stewart Lee’s Austerity Binge on London’s Southbank.

Joan Shelley

Joan Shelley

20 Mar 2026 - 26 Mar 2026

Joan Shelley has long factored place into her recordings. For her self-titled album (2017) she landed in Chicago, at The Loft with Jeff Tweedy producing. In 2019 she went to Iceland, bringing along collaborators Nathan Salsburg and James Elkington to make Like The River Loves The Sea. The pandemic kept her close to home in Kentucky for The Spur (2022), but as a new batch of songs began to take shape in late 2024-and as Shelley and her family began settling into their new home in Michigan-she began searching for a place where she could record in the company of talented friends. Joan, with husband Nathan Salsburg and their 4-year-old, traveled to snowy Toronto, ON in the winter of 2025 to make a record with Ben Whiteley, friend and bassist for The Weather Station. Ben tapped his rich community musicians for the session, including drummer Philippe Melanson, saxophonist Karen Ng, singer/songwriters Doug Paisley and Tamara Lindeman, Matt Kelley, and Ken Whiteley. Joan’s partner, guitarist Nathan Salsburg, also appears. Toronto artist Heather Goodchild designed and painted the cover and inner sleeve. Real Warmth is the follow-up to Shelley’s acclaimed 2022 album The Spur, a record praised by The New York Times, Pitchfork and The Guardian. It was deemed the #2 album of that year by Uncut Magazine and prompted MOJO to ask:" “Is Joan Shelley America’s most consistently exceptional songwriter? Right now, that does not seem like too much praise".” Shelley has toured and performed with the likes of Richard Thompson, Wilco, Patty Griffin, Michael Hurley and Bonnie “Prince” Billy. She has been featured on the covers of Fretboard Journal and Acoustic Guitar Magazine, and has appeared as a guest on WTF with Marc Maron, Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and Later... with Jools Holland. Presented by Communion ONE. This is a 16+ event (U18's must be accompanied by an adult)
