Simon Evans: Have We Met?

Simon Evans: Have We Met?

26 Feb 2026 - 22 Mar 2026

Completing the Trilogy begun with Genius 2.0 and The Work of the Devil, Have We Met? finds Simon standing, like Ulysses in Tennyson’s famous verse, gazing out over the moaning deep and the twinkling rocks and wondering whether to seek a newer world? To smite the sounding furrows? To strive, to seek, and to find? Or whether in fact, to put the kettle on, crack open the Hobnobs and simply yield? Drawing on Joyce, Proust and the career of Philip Schofield to make sense of his own tangled past and possible future, Evans skilfully weaves comedy, pathos and narrowly averted cancellation into an unforgettable two hours of unique entertainment.
The Too Bad Jims

The Too Bad Jims

6 Sept 2025 - 6 Sept 2025

THE TOO BAD JIMS take their name from the seminal 1994 RL Burnside album Too Bad Jim which features R.L. Burnside fronting a small juke joint combo tearing through some greasy blues. The Too Bad Jims initially started as a casual collaboration between two veteran and multiple award-winning blues musicians - Little Victor and Son Jack Jr. After relocating to London from Seattle, Son Jack Jr got in touch with Little Victor who was also living in London. They had connected via social media during Victor's days playing with Louisiana Red in the late 2000s but had never met in person until a couple of years ago. The duo became a trio when they were joined by drummer Nick Simonon (brother of Paul Simonon of The Clash). Nick had played with Pearl Harbour and toured with The Clash, The B-52's and Talking Heads, among many others. Nick keeps the three piece loose and together at the same time, much like RL's first drummer, the then 16-year-old Calvin Jackson. When he was younger, Little Victor had in fact played with RL Burnside and many other backwater artists from the Memphis/North Mississippi area. His uncle David Evans had managed and recorded Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, and Jessie Mae Hemphill for High Water Records. Victor's cousin, legendary cult artist and filmmaker Tav Falco had filmed RL in his juke joint in the early 1970s and Victor clearly remembers watching the video over and over again when he first started to play guitar. Burnside himself showed Victor how to play some of his earliest songs including Black Mattie, Long Haired Doney and Skinny Woman. The Too Bad Jims have recorded a killer debut album entitled Over The Hill - A Tribute To RL Burnside. Opting for the same type of funky, low-down approach that gives the music an immediacy that more polished blues albums lack. The album is a collection of some well-known and some fairly obscure songs from Burnside's back catalogue. Live, the band play a gritty high-octane mix of North Mississippi Hill Country blues and boogie. This combination of rough and ready vocals, bare-bones electric guitars, slashing bottleneck, and a heavily rhythm-oriented groove, delivers a hypnotic, raw, and earthy sound typical of a North Mississippi juke joint. A remarkable three-piece ... they represent the real essence of blues music, unfiltered and immediate - Blues Matters Magazine The Too Bad Jims give the slogan keeping the blues alive fresh meaning - Blues Roadhouse Relentlessly upbeat - Blues Blast Magazine (USA)
Malcolm Middleton

Malcolm Middleton

7 Oct 2025 - 10 Oct 2025

Malcolm Middleton is back, again, with his seven-hundredth studio album BANANAS, this time on the much beloved TRIASSIC TUSK RECORDS. The guitarist and songwriter is best known for his work with Aidan Moffat in Scottish rock legends ARAB STRAP, as well as for his string of DPR$$N-CORE smash hit singles “Fuck It, I Love You”, “We’re All Going To Die” and “Balled Of Fuck All”. On BANANAS Malcolm has teamed up with the acclaimed not-jazz trio JEANSY, JONES & SMILLIE (David Jeans DRUMS, Stevie Jones DOUBLE BASS and Graeme Smillie PIANO) to produce an album that is both scathing and nice. With new songs like “BUZZ LIGHTYEAR HELMET”, “LOVE IS A MOMENTARY LAPSE IN SELF-LOATHING” and “PISS OFF LIFE, JUST KILL ME NOW” (that last one is a joke), Malcolm continues to report back from the depths of the everyday whilst attempting to monetise HELL. Adding a dose of saccharine to the mix, the Samaratinesque choir of Kenny Anderson (KING CREOSOTE), Jenny Reeve (BDY_PRTS) and Dan Wilson (WITHERED HAND) courageously manage to pull Malcolm back from the brink of many a teetering jont just as he’s about to disappear up his own proverbial.

My Darling Clementine

My Darling Clementine

25 Jul 2025 - 6 Dec 2025

For what began life as something of a side project for Michael Weston King & Lou Dalgleish, a labour of love, a homage to the classic country duets of the 60’s and 70’s, My Darling Clementine is now very much part of the country and Americana landscape. 3 critically acclaimed albums, over 400 shows across Europe and N. America, numerous accolades and awards has placed the band at the forefront of the burgeoning Americana scene The debut How Do You Plead? was produced by Neil Brockbank (Nick Lowe, Jim Lauderdale,Tift Merritt) and featured some of London’s finest musicians from the 70’s pub rock era. Players who understood ‘classic country’. Released in 2011, it was immediately acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic. Country Music People called it; “The greatest British country record ever made” while American Songwriter stated “this is as authentic as anything out of Nashville or Texas… A batch of superb C&W corkers.” Such praise led to a US record deal and invitations to appear at the Americana Music Association in Nashville and SXSW in Austin in 2013 2013's follow-up, The Reconciliation, produced by Colin Eliot (Richard Hawley, Duane Eddy) and featuring guest appearances from Kinky Freidman and The Brodsky Quartet only enhanced the bands growing reputation and received a similar critical response. Uncut exclaimed; “The husband-and-wife duo serve up more countrified duet thrills…on this form, it’s a winning formula that looks set to run and run,” while in the States the New York Daily News choose it as album of the week while Popmatters put it in their Top 10 Country Albums of 2013. In 2015 Michael & Lou took something of an artistic departure, and collaborated with best-selling crime writer Mark Billingham on an audiobook, a stage play and album called The Other Half (www.theotherhalfshow.com) The song and story project, set in a run down bar in downtown Memphis, and told through the eyes of former Vegas show girl, now ageing waitress Marcia featured a brand new Billingham story and 8 MDC songs. The album also featured guest appearances by the actor David Morrissey and iconic British singer songwriter Graham Parker. After 18 months of touring The Other Half – time for album number 4. Re-uniting with Neil Brockbank, the new album, Still Testifying, was recorded over the summer of 2016. Stylistically, it is a further shifting away from classic country to embrace gospel and country soul… ‘more Delaney & Bonnie than George & Tammy’. But if the musical landscape has changed then the message and tone of the songs stay pretty constant. 2 adults, a man and woman, singing to each, about each other, for and against each other.
