Texas Is The Reason emerged in the mid-1990s as a defining force in the post-hardcore and early emo scenes, blending melodic urgency with emotional clarity at a time when underground music was edging toward broader recognition. Rooted in New York City’s DIY ethos, the band helped shape a sound that would influence countless artists, particularly through their acclaimed 1996 debut, 'Do You Know Who You Are?,' long regarded as one of Revelation Records’ most enduring and foundational releases. Though they disbanded in 1997 just as major-label attention intensified, their brief existence left a lasting imprint that has only deepened over the decades. Following select reunion shows in 2025-including Riot Fest and a headline performance at Best Friends Forever Festival-the band returns in 2026 for an international tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of 'Do You Know Who You Are?,' bringing their timeless catalogue to both dedicated longtime fans and a new generation of listeners. Texas Is The Reason emerged in the mid-1990s as one of the most influential bands of the post-hardcore / early emo movement, blending melodic urgency with emotional directness at a moment when underground music was beginning to break into the mainstream. Based in New York City, the band helped define a sound that would shape an entire generation of artists, while remaining rooted in the DIY ethos of the era. Their 1996 debut album, Do You Know Who You Are?, became one of Revelation Records’ most enduring releases-praised for its clarity, restraint, and emotional weight. As the band’s profile grew and major-label attention mounted, Texas Is The Reason disbanded in 1997, leaving behind a brief but deeply resonant legacy that has continued to ripple through alternative music for decades.
