Nathan Bell

Nathan Bell

30 Sept 2025 - 10 Oct 2025

Raised in Iowa City, the son of a nationally-recognised poet, by 1983, Nathan Bell had formed the duo Bell & Shore with then-wife Susan Shore. The two scored a record deal, began touring heavily, and would eventually release a pair of records, the second, L-Ranko Motel, scoring rave reviews. Their marriage and musical partnership ended in 1989 and he didn't pick up a guitar or write a song again for almost 15 years. With his latest album, I Don't Do This for Love, I Do This for Love (the third instalment in a potent trilogy that began with 2011's Black Crow Blue and continued with 2014's Blood Like a River), he has created a song cycle that is both moving and timely. The new CD won him more media attention in the space of a few weeks than he has experienced for a long time, picking up four and 5-star ratings from reviewers on both sides of the Atlantic. Now, the UK gets a chance to catch the man in action when he flies in for appearances at Glasgow's Celtic Connections festival and plays a few UK dates before heading for a string of shows in The Netherlands. Karen Jonas Duo

Karen Jonas Duo

8 Sept 2025 - 8 Sept 2025

Filey debut for this award winning performer Americana/Alt-Country songwriter Karen Jonas knows how to tell a story. Her new album The Restless (3.3) is a stunning collection of dreamy and dark alt-country confessionals; a deep exploration of love and vulnerability from one of Americana's most hopeless romantics (Holler.Country). With vocals that twist and snap with tension and emotional depth and a dynamic band, it's no wonder Karen is turning heads all around the world (Country Music People, U.K.). Flanked by her longtime guitarist the inimitable Tim Bray, bassist Seth Morrissey and Seth Brown on drums, she dazzles with energy that showcases their nine-year touring chemistry and the true joy of their art. Karen has released five full-length records and is a three-time Wammie (Washington Area Music) Award winner for Best Country and Americana Artist, Mid Atlantic Song Contest winner, Ameripolitan Award nominee, and official SXSW and UK Americanafest Showcasing Artist. As Parklife Mag DC put it, the voice of country music in the DMV is a big, bright voice that belongs to Virginia native Karen Jonas.
