The Vaselines

The Vaselines

16 May 2025 - 24 May 2025

The Vaselines were formed in Edinburgh in 1987 by singers/guitarists Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee, soon signing to Pastels frontman Stephen Pastel's newly formed 53rd 3rd label. Nirvana's Kurt Cobain regularly cited the Vaselines influence in interviews with the music press and Nirvana would go on to cover the Vaselines' Molly's Lips and Son of a Gun (both later compiled on their Incesticide collection) as well as perform Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam on their legendary MTV Unplugged appearance. Cobain's gospel-spreading no doubt accelerated their rise to cult sainthood, but the Vaselines would have gotten there sooner or later on their own accord. Lewd but nave and abrasive yet tender, the band's shambling, primitivist squall remains a perfect distillation of pop at its most guileless and euphoric.Eugene Kelly later went on to front Captain America / Eugenius, while McKee spent the better part of the decade out of sight, resurfaced in Suckle, and released a solo album in 2006. The Vaselines reunited proper in 2010 to record their second full album Sex With An X which was released on the Seattle label Sub Pop.This was followed by V for Vaselines in 2014. The Ramones inspired album featured many of the same players who helped make 'Sex.....', including Belle and Sebastian's Stevie Jackson, the 1990's Michael McGaughrin and Teenage Fanclub's Francis Macdonald.

The Nightingales

The Nightingales

21 May 2025 - 30 May 2025

Described in John Robb's definitive book on 'post punk' (Death To Trad Rock) as 'The misfits' misfits' and comprising an ever fluctuating line-up, based around lyricist/singer Robert Lloyd, the Nightingales enjoyed cult status in the early 80s as darlings of the credible music scene and were championed by John Peel, who said of them: 'Their performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from the 1980s to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand revealed as charlatans.' The group recorded a bunch of critically acclaimed singles (almost always 'Single Of The Week' in the music press) and three albums, plus many radio sessions for their great supporter Peel. They also regularly toured the UK and Northern Europe, as headliners and supporting acts as diverse as Bo Diddley and Nico. Since re-grouping in 2000 they have played Glasto, SXSW etc and headlined Stewart Lee’s Austerity Binge on London’s Southbank.

30 Apr 2025 - 7 May 2025

Dublin’s own Soda Blonde are set to bring their electrifying live show back to their hometown with a headline performance at Vicar St on December 7th. This highly anticipated concert will cap off a remarkable year for the band, following the success of their critically acclaimed second studio album, Dream Big. In addition to the Dublin date, Soda Blonde has just announced three UK shows leading up to Vicar St: London on December 3rd, Leeds on December 4th, and Glasgow on December 5th. These performances offer fans in the UK a chance to experience the band live before their grand finale in Dublin. Since their formation in 2019, Soda Blonde—comprised of Faye O’Rourke (vocals), Adam O’Regan (guitar), Dylan Lynch (drums), and Donagh Seaver-O’Leary (bass)—has carved out a distinct space in the music world with their self-produced sound, introspective lyrics, and arresting visuals. Their sophomore album Dream Big has not only solidified their reputation but also propelled them into new creative territories. The album, a bold statement of intent, has resonated deeply with fans and critics alike, earning nominations for Album of the Yearand Song of the Year (“Bad Machine”) at the Choice Music Prize. The band’s journey in 2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary. January saw them embark on their first sold-out EU tour, a milestone that showcased their growing international appeal. In March, Soda Blonde made headlines by withdrawing from their scheduled performance at SXSW, taking a principled stand against the festival’s association with the U.S. military. This decision was a catalyst for the creation of the visually striking and thought-provoking music video for “Why Die For Danzig,” which offers a biting commentary on society’s complicity in the war machine. However, the true highlight of the year came in July, when Soda Blonde performed a monumental sold-out show at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. Teaming up with the Irish National Symphony Orchestra, the band presented orchestral arrangements of Dream Big, blending the cinematic grandeur of a full orchestra with their signature sound. The evening was recorded and will soon be released as both a concert film and a live album, allowing fans to relive this unforgettable experience. Brudenell Presents... This is a 14+ event

The Inspector Cluzo

The Inspector Cluzo

22 Oct 2025 - 1 Nov 2025

'When they’re not on tour all over the world (they have played in about 40 different countries so far), Laurent Lacrouts and Mathieu Jourdain run an organic farm in southwestern France, in the Gascony area, where they breed geese. This is not your average rock band. These gentlemen farmers apply their artisan DIY ethics to their music career: they started their own record label and they prefer being their own managers. Their band name, The Inspector Cluzo, is a reference to Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau, the famous protagonist in Blake Edwards’ The Pink Panther films. As band members, Laurent and Mathieu have chosen aliases: they become Malcom and Phil, playing guitar and drums respectively – hence the name of their label, Fuckthebassplayer Records. In the great tradition of bands like The White Stripes and The Black Keys, they work as a duo and don’t need any help from a bass player, thank you very much.'

Joining the dots that have not been joined for a long time, the collective takes on people of all sexualities, gender expressions and body types. “We are very proud to bring this music back to its inclusive roots. Let’s forget the disjointed and cliquey scene we live in, and bring back what once united us.” Crafting songs with real musicians, the group’s name was inspired by Ladies of the 80’s by Eighties Ladies, the album from a girl group produced by Roy Ayers, “I just loved the whole concept, and I wanted to do the same thing with Girls of the Internet,” explains the group’s founding member Tom Kerridge. “I wanted a name that played with gender, and people’s subconscious misogyny. Girls of the Internet is abstract – it means nothing, and it means everything.”

Metalcore/screamo outfit Stick to Your Guns formed in 2003 under the leadership of vocalist Jesse Barnett in Orange County, California. Drawing comparisons to such names as Comeback Kid and Protest the Hero, the band was soon noticed by Sumerian Records honcho Ash Avildsen, who put the already buzzworthy band on a live showcase. The band signed a deal with the label soon after. The band's first album, For What It's Worth, was released in 2007, a year that Stick to Your Guns would spend on the road, consolidating their skills and building on their early successes. The band eventually moved over to indie metal label Century Media, which released the follow-up full-length Comes from the Heart in the spring of 2008. Lineup changes and a move to Sumerian Records preceded the band's third studio long-player, 2010's acclaimed Hope Division, and in 2012 they released the fiery Diamond, which featured the Occupy Wall Street movement-supporting single "Bringing You Down (A New World Overthrow)." Arriving in 2015, the John Feldmann-produced Disobedient would be their last outing for Sumerian, as 2016 saw the group join up with Pure Noise for the EP Better Ash Than Dust. The next year they released their sixth LP, True View.

Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was a Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the '80s became popular opening for headliners Y&Tand cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe. Born in Oakland, California, Y&T is one of the San Francisco Bay Area's own innovators of the hard rock sound. Whether performing to a festival crowd of fifty-thousand or in an intimate nightclub, Y&T's high- energy set and passionate performances still captivate legions of fans around the globe, proving Y&T's music timeless. Originally formed as Yesterday and Today, the initial powerhouse quartetfeaturing Dave Meniketti (lead guitar/lead vocals), Phil Kennemore (bass), Leonard Haze (drums), and Joey Alves (rhythm guitar) tore through the '70s and '80s with their own brand of hard rock. After two '70s albums on London Records, they shortened their name to Y&T and released eight albums on A&M in the '80s. Two more albums with Geffen Records marked an era of change with Jimmy DeGrasso (Alice Cooper, Suicidal Tendencies, Megadeth) on drums and Stef Burns (Alice Cooper, Berlin, Huey Lewis) on guitar. With a discography of 18 albums, four greatest hits collections, plus a box set, Y&T have sold over four million albums since their 1974 inception. The band's most recent single "I'm Coming Home" has climbed to roughly 1.5 million views on YouTube. Y&T received extensive airplay with hits such as Forever, Rescue Me, Mean Streak, Don't Stop Runnin', and Summertime Girlswhich played in heavy rotation on MTV. Y&T songs have been featured in a multitude of movies and television shows, including Real Genius, Out of Bounds, Baywatch, and Hunter. After five top 100 albums, songs that tipped into the 40s, two Bammie Awards, and many international television appearances, Y&T's hits are still played on VH1 Classic and Classic Rock radio stations worldwide. With Kennemore's untimely passing from lung cancer, the band carries on the legacy that is Y&T. Y&T continues to tour the world, featuring the dynamic original frontman Dave Meniketti (guitar/lead vocals), John Nymann (guitar/vocals), Brad Lang (bass/vocals), and Mike Vanderhule (drums/vocals), playing songs that span the band's five-decade career and including all the hits and fan favorites.
