The Orb virtually invented the electronic genre known as ambient house, resurrecting slower, more soulful rhythms and providing a soundtrack for early-morning ravers once the clubs closed their doors. Founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and The KLF member Jimmy Cauty, membership of The Orb has been fluid over the years, with Paterson remaining the only constant throughout. The Orb released their fifteenth studio album, ‘No Sounds Are Out of Bounds’, in 2018 via Cooking Vinyl. These fifteen albums plus EPs, singles, compilations and live recordings have influenced countless other musicians along the way.

This evening session is a celebration of the stunning developments in Roots Reggae 50 years ago; from Lee Perry and King Tubby’s dubs to deep roots vocalists and instrumentalists. Running tings will be the 4 horsemen, all of whom are aficionados of this style and period. Soft Wax has been selecting Roots Reggae since the mid 70s. He remembers the release of “Super Ape” and “War Ina Babylon” as life changing. Drop da Biscuit is another mainstay of the D.D.C. and is a familiar, much respected presence on the London Revive scene. He rarely leaves his yard without the tunes, that are our focuses tonight, in his boxes. As ever, the tunes will be supplemented by live action, on the mic, from our residents. The mighty Singjay Doc Murdoc is absolutely guaranteed to nice up any dance; his style and fashion epitomizes the mid-70s style of toasting. The D.D.C. Horns, led by Tombone of The Dub Pistols. It is expected that we will have special guest singers and players live and direct, too. There’ll also be live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk, throughout the session. Ziad Hisham is a visionary guitarist and composer blending the expressive depth of jazz with the rich heritage of Egyptian music. Weaving intricate melodies, deep grooves, and improvisational storytelling into a seamless fusion of East and West. Performing for over a decade, Ziad has developed his instrumental project alongside collaborations with renowned artists such as Grammy Award winner Fathy Salama, Sheikh Mahmoud El Tohamy, Sara Moullablad, Luka Salam, Mohamed Abo Zekry, and Amena. His work has taken him across diverse musical landscapes, from contemporary jazz ensembles to traditional Arabic ensembles and experimental fusion projects. Amena is a singer/songwriter from Cairo, Egypt. Growing up in the vibrant city, she developed a love for both Arabic and Jazz music. As she studied at Guildhall School in London, she aims to create music that blends her cultural roots with the harmony and rhythms of Jazz. Jamie Murray (AKA Drumcat) is a London-based drummer, composer, and bandleader working at the forefront of jazz, fusion, and electronic music. Praised by Rhythm Magazineas a “drummer to watch,” he has performed internationally with leading artists including Robben Ford, Dave Binney, Gary Husband, Donny McCaslin, Binker Golding, Emma Rawicz and many others. A regular presence on the UK jazz scene, he hosts the Late Late Show at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and has appeared at major events such as the UK Drum Show and Europe Drum Show. On bass will be the UK legend, Laurence Cottle and on guitar will be the electrifying Mike Outram. Saxophonists Brandon Allen and Alex Garnett 'Celebrating the Tough Tenors', have been friends and musical sparring partners for over 20 years. From the very beginning, their musical chemistry was unmistakable-and it remains as potent today as ever, with each pushing the other to reach new heights. In this project, they celebrate one of jazz’s great traditions: the ‘Two Tenors’ - or, as they like to call it, the ‘Tough Tenors’. Drawing on both classic and contemporary recordings, Allen and Garnett explore the rich history of saxophone partnerships, reimagining the music through their own distinct voices.
