Coming straight out of Newport The GLC are officially Britain’s biggest rap group. Known for classics like “Guns don’t kill people rappers do”, The GLC started almost by accident around the turn of the century with Eggsy’s impromptu rap about his tracksuit over a serious piece of music Rhys was working on in the studio. Adam Hussain, Billy Webb, Mystkal, the Maggot, 2hats and Mike Balls convinced Rhys to record the rap. Fuelled by Lambrini, fags, Chicken Tikka Massala and weed they all took to the mic and The GLC’s first album “Don’t Blame the Chain” was born. And so it began, the journey which has so far seen The GLC rise to the top of the charts, perform around the world and at every major festival in the Western Hemisphere and make millions of people laugh along the way. Now many years since that first rap about Eggsy’s tracksuit, the boys are still keeping it real in the rap game and hold the title of the most successful UK rap act ever. To date The GLC have released 18 albums… and amazingly none of them have died yet. You knows it! GLC (Live) plus special guests

We’re staging a FREE, full family friendly, outdoor, afternoon session, in the glorious, extensive garden. This promises to be a real historical event as it features the legendary Neville King on the wheels of steel. The renowned producer and soundsystem operator was born in St. James, Jamaica. Neville’s soundsystem had long residencies across south London during the 70s. In those days he was a mentor to David Rodigan, Levi Roots and Blacker Dread. Neville King launched his own labels in London in 1976 and quickly struck gold. Mr King was also one of the instigators of Lovers Rock, releasing many of his own production in the genre. “Be Thankful” by One Blood has assumed classic status. Throughout our resident Sing-jay, the mighty Doc Murdoc will be on hand to nice-up the dance. The inimitable Doctor will need no introduction to many, as he is a stalwart of the London Reggae scene. He and the club’s resident selector, Soft Wax, recently supported Black Uhuru and together they’ve grace many of the capital’s stages and far beyond. For this night they will be joined by the D.D.C.s recently augmented live horn section. Now a 3 piece, including Club favourites Natty and Tombone. Early on we’ll be graced by a set from Club stalwart Natty Nick. Nick is revered amongst club regulars for his lovingly selected blends of Ska, Rocksteady and early Reggae. Drop da Biscuit is another mainstay of the D.D.C. and is a familiar, much respected presence on the London Revive scene. He rarely leaves his yard without the tunes that are our focus in his boxes. He also creates the popular and influential Drop da Biscuit podcasts. Soft Wax is the resident selector at the Dub Club. He remembers the release of “Natty Rebel” and “Meets the Aggrovators at the Dub Station” as life changing. As ever, the tunes will be supplemented by live action on the mic from our residents, the mighty Singjay artist Doc Murdoc and the D.D.C. Horns, led by Tombone and Natty. It is expected that we will have special guest singers and players live and direct, too. Earlier in the evening we’ll be playin’ our usual eclectic mix of music of Jamaican origin including Rocksteady and Ska. Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp
Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp is a perpetually evolving ‘orchestra’, loosely modelled on the great 20th-century African groups like Tout Puissant Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou and tipping its hat to revolutionary French artist Marcel Duchamp. New album Ventre Unique - their sixth, and the successor to 2021’s acclaimed We’re Ok But We’re Lost Anyway - is as exuberant as it is emotionally fraught with a dream amalgam of folk, krautrock, post-punk and African rhythms that feels both uncluttered and beautifully organic. The album will be released on Bongo Joe Records (Vincent Bertholet co-founded the label with Cyril Yeterian), with band and label both sharing a collective vision that was forged from Geneva’s punk history and squat scene. It finds them once again exploring contemporary anxieties and setting them to music that balances fat, loping grooves - built around simple loops written by Bertholet - sparkling marimba, strident horns and strings with dissonance and angular guitar riffs. The beautiful sleeve art comes courtesy of French painter Dove Perspicacius. The recording of Ventre Unique took place over ten days in a studio near Paris, Studio Midilive in Villetaneuse, and was overseen by Johannes Buff who mixed We’re Ok But We’re Lost Anyway.
