We all made art as kids, and yet somehow as adults many of us suffer from art anxiety - not feeling educated enough to take our kids to museums or knowledgeable on how art is priced. Kate is on a mission to help everyone take art on their own terms. This is not an art history lesson, this is about having the same ease with art as you already do with movies, books, or food. Kate wants to side step art world elitism. From how to talk about art you like to where to find it across the country, to making art for fun to inexpensive art for your home, shes here to make art a joyful and meaningful part of your life. Go Forth... by the Richmondshire Orchestra
Get up and go with Richmondshire Orchestra's spring concert 'Go Forth...' Setting you on the path, the concert opens with Wagner's inspiring and bombastic 'Overture to Tannhauser'. 'Go Forth' features two of the great soprano roles by Richard Strauss and Mahler, performed by Jane Burnell. One of Yorkshire's finest sopranos, Jane joins us from Reisopera, Holland. Marvel at the serenity and pure emotion of Richard Strauss' 'Four Last Songs' one of the pinnacle roles for any soprano soloist. The concert closes with Mahler's 4th Symphony. It encapsulates the best of his style: precise orchestration, a sweeping full orchestra and a sublime solo soprano. Jewellery Workshop: A Beginner's Guide to Understanding Your Jewellery Collection
This hands-on workshop will help you to better understand your jewellery collection, whether it consists of treasured family heirlooms, recent purchases, or items you may wish to acquire in the future. Tennants Jewellery Specialists Jessica Fall and Sarah Hardy will cover the essentials of recognising and identifying different metals and gemstones, and provide practical hints and tips for buying jewellery. The aim is to equip you with the knowledge needed to make informed choices when buying jewellery. Additionally, it offers useful advice to help you grow and care for your collection. About your specialists: Jessica is a Fellow of the Gemmological Association in 2021, and in 2022 completed her DGA, passing with distinction. She was also awarded the Bruton Medal, for best candidate of the year, and the Deeks Diamond Prize. Sarah joined Tennants in 2007 and was Head of the Jewellery Department until going on maternity leave in 2016. Returning as Consultant for the department, Sarah holds a Professional Jewellers Diploma and a Diploma in Gemmology; she is a Fellow of the Gemmological Association and gained her Diamond Diploma in 2013 with distinction. There will be Saboteurs chosen on each table, with banishments and murders along the way, as the Innocents hunt the Saboteurs and the Saboteurs do all they can to wreck their team's chances of winning the challenges, with prizes for the successful players at the end! Flowers Band, based in Gloucester, has been thrilling audiences for over 55 years. The band began in 1968 when former members of the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Brass Band kept their passion alive by forming a new ensemble. From local carnivals and early contest success to rising through the brass band ranks, Flowers has grown into one of the UK's most respected championship section bands. The band has achieved numerous competition victories & high-profile performances, recorded multiple albums, and appeared on BBC radio and television. Today, Flowers continues to excel in major contests, including becoming 2024 National Champions of Great Britain, representing England at the European Championships, and performing at prestigious events across the UK and beyond.
