Experience the buzz of the saleroom and see behind the scenes at Tennants, the largest privately owned auction house in Europe, on our public walking tours. With more than 80 fast-pace live sales a year, Tennants is one of the UKs busiest salerooms. The Garden Rooms at Tennants boasts free to enter ever-changing exhibitions, a diverse programme of concerts, events, as well as exceptional food in a unique setting, with our Bistro and Caf. ORDER OF THE DAY Our public walking tours are a unique and memorable experience, perfect for individuals, couples or friends looking for something different. Tours last approximately 70 minutes. On arrival at 11am, you will be welcomed into one of our private rooms, for an introduction by our team. The day starts with a showing of our fascinating company video, where you will learn more about the history of Tennants, how the family business began and how it has evolved over the years. You will then begin the behind-the-scenes guided walk around our venue, where you can ask plenty of questions and learn all about the inner workings of the largest, privately-owned auction house in Europe. After the tour, you can freely explore our public spaces for yourself, including a browse in our Gift Shop or a stroll through our ever-changing exhibition displays. Refreshments are available to purchase in either our stylish Bistro or Caf TIMINGS 11am - Tour begins. She is best known for turning her lifelong passion for walking into prime-time TV, with shows including Britains Best Walks, Cornwall and Devon Walks with Julia Bradbury and Wainwrights Walks in the Lake District. She started her career as a show business reporter for breakfast television in Los Angeles, coming home to help launch Channel 5 in the UK. A vital member of the presenting team that made Countryfile into one of the most watched factual programmes on BBC1, with millions tuning in on Sunday nights, and has fronted other flagship shows, including Top Gear and Watchdog. In recent years, she has also taken on a creative role, co-developing new series, as well as appearing on screen. Julia will talk about her life and career to date, and we look forward to another interesting and entertaining evening!

The Journey of the Cocoa Bean: Talk & Tasting with Former Royal Pastry Chef Kathryn Cuthbertson
Kathryn, former Royal Pastry Chef to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II from July 2006 to December 2017, has dedicated a lifetime to pastry and the culinary arts. In 2017, she became a Member of the Victorian Order (MVO), awarded by The Late Queen in the New Year Honours List. Highlights of her time working for The Royal Family include creating and executing menus for State Occasions, Royal Weddings, Royal Christenings, Royal Ascot as well as Diplomatic receptions and Jubilee Celebrations. Examples of some of her work can be seen in the two Royal Collection publications 'Royal Teas' and 'A Royal Cookbook'. During her 32 year professional career, Kathryn has been fortunate to work alongside some of the industry's leading chefs, pastry chefs and hotel general managers. She has worked in some of the world's most prestigious five-star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants, including London's Mandarin Oriental, Landmark and Intercontinental Hotels. Kathryn was a member of The Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire opening team as well as holding the position of Executive Pastry Chef at The Hotel Sofitel in Melbourne, Australia. Kathryn having founded her own business in the Yorkshire Dales, now creates handcrafted luxurious chocolates, bespoke occasion cakes and holds masterclasses with various partners across the UK. Using world class craftsmanship, high-quality sustainably sourced ingredients and the utmost care to ensure yourspecial occasion is fit for royalty. Kathryn will introduce guests to the journey of the cocoa bean, from harvest to production, focusing on the four main varieties: dark, milk, white, and ruby chocolate, explaining various flavours, pairings, and applications. The tasting and talk will be followed by a delicious 2-course lunch.

Richmond Chamber Orchestra presents Concertos and Carols A Musical Christmas Celebration North Yorkshires new pocket-sized orchestra presents an early celebration of Christmas, a mixture of traditional favourites and less familiar gems. Baroque music in the first half, with Corellis Christmas Concerto, Vivaldis Concerto for 4 Violins, and Telemanns Trumpet Concerto. After the interval theres music with a Christmas theme by Vaughan Williams, Josef Suk and Florence Price. The singing starts with carols by John Rutter sung by members of the Swale Singers and Richmond Choral Society, and finally its the audiences turn to join in some traditional carols, with trumpeter Michael Atkinson providing sparkling descants! To celebrate one of the most important offerings of Mouseman from Private Collections ever to have come to auction at Tennants, join 20th Century Design Specialist Diane Sinnott for a talk on some of the outstanding highlights of the sale including rare early Mouseman furniture and sculptural carvings by Mousemans master carver Stan Dodds, who later created his own carvings signed with a Woodpecker. The talk will be accompanied by an exclusive preview of the 4th October 20th Century Design Sale, a question-and-answer session with Diane, and a delicious two-course supper based around local Yorkshire produce. A Community United Through Song Founded in 2021, the Service Childrens Community Choir has quickly become a beacon of creativity and resilience, giving military-connected children a platform to express themselves and build lasting friendships.
