10 May 2025 - 20 Sept 2025

Tom Waits for No Man is a set of sensitive and compelling reimagining's of the music of Tom Waits. Vocalist and composer Lindsay Hannon (A voice soulful, brooding & unselfconscious in its longing - Jazz Journal) has chosen and re-arranged a selection of songs from the legendary Tom Waits decades spanning back catalogue. From the tender nostalgia of 'Martha', the gospel infused 'Picture in a frame' and the variously, dark, comedic and lewd content of such numbers as 'Pasties and a G-string, 'Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis; this may be an opportunity to reacquaint yourself with this stellar artist, or perhaps discover for the first time, a few of the reasons that maintain his reputation as songwriter of international acclaim. Malcolm Middleton

Malcolm Middleton

7 Oct 2025 - 8 Oct 2025

Malcolm Middleton is back, again, with his seven-hundredth studio album BANANAS, this time on the much beloved TRIASSIC TUSK RECORDS. The guitarist and songwriter is best known for his work with Aidan Moffat in Scottish rock legends ARAB STRAP, as well as for his string of DPR$$N-CORE smash hit singles “Fuck It, I Love You”, “We’re All Going To Die” and “Balled Of Fuck All”. On BANANAS Malcolm has teamed up with the acclaimed not-jazz trio JEANSY, JONES & SMILLIE (David Jeans DRUMS, Stevie Jones DOUBLE BASS and Graeme Smillie PIANO) to produce an album that is both scathing and nice. With new songs like “BUZZ LIGHTYEAR HELMET”, “LOVE IS A MOMENTARY LAPSE IN SELF-LOATHING” and “PISS OFF LIFE, JUST KILL ME NOW” (that last one is a joke), Malcolm continues to report back from the depths of the everyday whilst attempting to monetise HELL. Adding a dose of saccharine to the mix, the Samaratinesque choir of Kenny Anderson (KING CREOSOTE), Jenny Reeve (BDY_PRTS) and Dan Wilson (WITHERED HAND) courageously manage to pull Malcolm back from the brink of many a teetering jont just as he’s about to disappear up his own proverbial.

Robyn Hitchcock

Robyn Hitchcock

30 Jun 2025 - 2 Jul 2025

With a career now spanning six decades, Robyn Hitchcock remains a truly one-of-a-kind artist –surrealist rock ’n’ roller, iconic troubadour, guitarist, poet, painter, performer. An unparalleled, deeply individualistic songwriter and stylist, Hitchcock has traversed myriad genres with humor, intelligence, and originality over more than thirty albums and seemingly infinite live performances. From The Soft Boys’ proto-psych-punk and The Egyptians’ Dadaist pop to solo masterpieces like 1984’s milestone I Often Dream of Trains and 1990’s Eye, Hitchcock has crafted a strikingly original oeuvre rife with sagacious observation, astringent wit, recurring marine life, mechanized rail services, cheese, Clint Eastwood, and innumerable finely drawn characters real and imagined. Blending folk and psychedelia with a wry British nihilism, Robyn describes his songs as ‘paintings you can listen to’. His most recent album The Man Upstairs is a bittersweet love letter to a vanishing world. Produced by legendary folk-rock svengali Joe Boyd (Pink Floyd, Nick Drake) the album was critically acclaimed by MOJO, Uncut and The Quietus. This TalkingGigs event gives you a chance not only to hear Robyn perform and tell tales in his unique style but also to hear him talk about his music and career and even ask him the question that has always intrigued you.
