Norman Blake + Adam Ross + Robin Ince
A very special night for the launch of Adam Ross' most recent solo album Bring On Your Apathy, with friends Norman Blake and Robin Ince. Norman Blake is best known as the guitarist, vocalist, and co-founder of the celebrated Scottish alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub, though he's also amassed an impressive resume of side projects. During his downtime from Teenage Fanclub, Norman Blake often busied himself with a wide range of collaborations and side projects. In tandem with Euros Childs of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, he formed the group Jonny. With Eugene Kelly of the Vaselines and Eugenius, Blake recorded as the Famous Monsters. Francis MacDonald, Blake's BMX Bandits and Teenage Fanclub bandmate who has also worked with Belle and Sebastian, has performed with Blake under the moniker Frank Blake. After moving to Canada in 2009, Blake started writing songs with Joe Pernice of the Pernice Brothers, and the two recorded and toured as the New Mendicants. And Blake has enjoyed an especially fruitful partnership with Jad Fair of the legendary lo-fi group Half Japanese. In addition to Teenage Fanclub cutting an album with Fair, Blake and Fair teamed up for a 2015 duo album, Yes, and Fair, Blake, and the Japanese group Tenniscoats joined forces for two albums together, 2014's How Many Glasgow and 2017's Raindrops. Adam Ross is an indie-folk songwriter based in north-east Scotland. He is a solo artist and has also led the cult indie band Randolph's Leap for over a decade, releasing music with legendary Fife label Fence Records and Lost Map as well as Olive Grove Records and Fika Recordings. He is known for his unique brand of articulate lyricism which blends humour, poignancy, wordplay and offbeat stories. Adam released a debut solo album Staring At Mountains in 2022 which was followed by the 2024 release of a critically acclaimed second solo album, Littoral Zone, produced by multiple Scottish Album Of The Year Award nominated composer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Wasylyk. The album further cemented Adam's status as one of the country's most original songwriters. He released a standalone synth-pop single Drink The First Light featuring C. Duncan in 2025 and Adam's third album is due out in 2026. Robin Ince is many things. A multi award winning comedian, author, broadcaster, bibliomaniac and a populariser of scientific ideas. He is perhaps best known as the former co-host and co-creator of the Sony Gold Award winning BBC Radio 4 series The Infinite Monkey Cage with Professor Brian Cox. As a stand up Robin has toured the world and as an author he has written four acclaimed books, including Bibliomaniac, earned him the prestigious Booksellers Association Author of the Year award. His fifth, Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal is published in May 2025. He co-created the Cosmic Shambles Network and created the groundbreaking science variety night Nine Lessons and Carols for Curious People which has been adapted worldwide. He has received an Honorary Fellowship of UCL, an honorary doctorate from Royal Holloway College (University of London), and is a fellow of the British Science Association.
Honky-Tonkin' with George & his New Heartaches (USA/DE)
George & his New Heartaches capture the early electric honky-tonk and western-swing sounds that were sweeping the dance-halls of the USA in the 1940s and 50s from such greats as Ray Price, Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell... Featuring country-style fiddling, swinging twin electric guitar riffs, a shuffling string bass and rhythm guitar, and cutting high lonesome vocal harmonies, this band knows how a good country song should sound.Led by George Aschmann, a fiddler and singer from Shenandoah County, VA, this band regularly hosts two-step/swing dance parties in Berlin's dancehalls. These boys will break your heart and scuff your dancing boots! Catch them for a rare visit to the UK.
Marie Buhl (EP & poetry zine release party)
Marie Buhl is a Danish singer, translator, and multi-instrumentalist based in London. This evening celebrates two of her personal idols and Danish household names. Poet Tove Ditlevsen (1917-76) wrote on themes such as her working-class childhood, her disappointment in marriage, and how our personal histories inevitably shape us. Pioneering singer and songwriter Anne Linnet (1953-) has set music to many of Ditlevsen’s poems. Marie DB · Streets of childhood Marie started translating these poems simply to share what’s precious to her with friends who didn’t speak Danish. She’s now releasing an EP and printed zine of four English translations, written specifically to be sung. Her performances are stripped-back, folky, and emotive, putting the poetry front and centre. Siwan Catrin and Tamise

29 Aug 2026 - 29 Aug 2026

Siwan Catrin is a Welsh harpist, folk musician, and singer-songwriter, now based in South London. Singing traditional and self-written pieces in both Welsh and English, she finds in the folk songbook not cosy nostalgia or otherworldly whimsy but hope for a radical future. By transporting us to times before our contemporary social order, folk songs give us glimpses of how the world was transformed - and how it might be again. At the same time, they show us how certain themes and stories, human hopes and heartaches, remain unchanged across the ages. In these possibilities - what can change and what can endure - Siwan finds her solace and the inspiration for her debut EP Possibility, released in April with Circle Dance Recordings. Tamise’s style of music is a blend of traditional and contemporary arrangements. Their music is accessible towards folk veterans and first time festival goers alike, expect a mix of energetic and thoughtful sets. Meeting in the National Youth Folk Ensemble, their experiences have been guided by many skilled tutors shaping their cooperative playing style into one based on close connections with each other. Through the ensemble Tamise has played at festivals such as Sidmouth, Shrewsbury, and then as a band festivals such as Tenterden folk festival. Tamise was recently personally invited to support Michael McGoldrick and Tim Edey in Oxford and have just released their new single, Swedish Breakfast and EP Homebrewed that bridges a contemporary Irish style, traditional Swedish music, and their own personal style into one set.

Rebetiko is a genre of urban Greek folk music that emerged in the early 20th century, often called the Greek blues. Originating from marginalized, working-class communities, blending Greek, Ottoman, and Balkan influences Based in the heart of London, Sevdalides is a Greek rebetiko trio brought together by a shared longing for home and a deep love for the blues of the Aegean. The name Sevdalides comes from the Greek word sevdas that burning feeling of love and passion. For us, it's more than just a name; it sums up what were about. Our connection to the music, our friendship, and the stories carried in rebetiko songs all sit right at the centre of what we do. Living away from Greece and Cyprus, we originally came together as a way to feel closer to where were from. Playing this music helps ease that distance turning nostalgia into something alive, something we can share. At our core were a trio, but we see music as something that's meant to bring people together. Were always keen to meet others and often collaborate with musicians from Greece and Cyprus, across Europe, and in the United States. At the end of the day, Sevdalides is about connection. Whether were working with artists from abroad or playing to a local crowd, were just here to share good music and bring people together.

They have been compared happily by critics to The Beta Band, The Go Betweens, Julian Cope, and the sacred trio of initialised groups: CSNY, XTC and REM. Long-term fan Stewart Lee described them as one of Britain's greatest psychedelic bands, and they have won album of the year plaudits, (Sunday Times, Rolling Stone, BBC Radio 2) without ever leaving cult status. Candidate provided the theme music for the long-running Johnny Vegas sitcom Ideal and gained widespread acclaim for their 2003 LP Nuada, an alt-universe soundtrack for seminal folk-horror film The Wicker Man, featuring folk legend Bert Jansch of Pentangle on guitar. They were invited to attend the 50th anniversary burning ritual at the original location, playing the part of the village band for the assembled fans, witches and locals. Their latest album, Point Clear, a richly textured bit of estuary psych, got across the board rave reviews, and may be their strongest set of songs yet. A superb band. One of the best in Britain.
