The Vaselines

The Vaselines

16 May 2025 - 24 May 2025

The Vaselines were formed in Edinburgh in 1987 by singers/guitarists Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee, soon signing to Pastels frontman Stephen Pastel's newly formed 53rd 3rd label. Nirvana's Kurt Cobain regularly cited the Vaselines influence in interviews with the music press and Nirvana would go on to cover the Vaselines' Molly's Lips and Son of a Gun (both later compiled on their Incesticide collection) as well as perform Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam on their legendary MTV Unplugged appearance. Cobain's gospel-spreading no doubt accelerated their rise to cult sainthood, but the Vaselines would have gotten there sooner or later on their own accord. Lewd but nave and abrasive yet tender, the band's shambling, primitivist squall remains a perfect distillation of pop at its most guileless and euphoric.Eugene Kelly later went on to front Captain America / Eugenius, while McKee spent the better part of the decade out of sight, resurfaced in Suckle, and released a solo album in 2006. The Vaselines reunited proper in 2010 to record their second full album Sex With An X which was released on the Seattle label Sub Pop.This was followed by V for Vaselines in 2014. The Ramones inspired album featured many of the same players who helped make 'Sex.....', including Belle and Sebastian's Stevie Jackson, the 1990's Michael McGaughrin and Teenage Fanclub's Francis Macdonald.

Joshua Burnside

Joshua Burnside

22 Jul 2025 - 24 Jul 2025

Northern Irish experimental folk songwriter and producer Joshua Burnside is something of a regional anomaly. With a brooding, powerful sound echoing artists of places afar and time long gone, his enthralling craft defies local comparison in striving towards an aesthetic as much as visual as it is sonic. Balanced with a diverse palette of sounds, Burnside deftly blends alt-folk and elements of the Irish folk song tradition with South American rhythms and Eastern European influences, whilst introducing synthetic and found-sounds, synths loops and crunching beats to create a stormy world that shifts and swirls perspective like a lingering lucid dream.

Soda Blonde

Soda Blonde

1 May 2025 - 7 May 2025

Dublin’s own Soda Blonde are set to bring their electrifying live show back to their hometown with a headline performance at Vicar St on December 7th. This highly anticipated concert will cap off a remarkable year for the band, following the success of their critically acclaimed second studio album, Dream Big. In addition to the Dublin date, Soda Blonde has just announced three UK shows leading up to Vicar St: London on December 3rd, Leeds on December 4th, and Glasgow on December 5th. These performances offer fans in the UK a chance to experience the band live before their grand finale in Dublin. Since their formation in 2019, Soda Blonde—comprised of Faye O’Rourke (vocals), Adam O’Regan (guitar), Dylan Lynch (drums), and Donagh Seaver-O’Leary (bass)—has carved out a distinct space in the music world with their self-produced sound, introspective lyrics, and arresting visuals. Their sophomore album Dream Big has not only solidified their reputation but also propelled them into new creative territories. The album, a bold statement of intent, has resonated deeply with fans and critics alike, earning nominations for Album of the Yearand Song of the Year (“Bad Machine”) at the Choice Music Prize. The band’s journey in 2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary. January saw them embark on their first sold-out EU tour, a milestone that showcased their growing international appeal. In March, Soda Blonde made headlines by withdrawing from their scheduled performance at SXSW, taking a principled stand against the festival’s association with the U.S. military. This decision was a catalyst for the creation of the visually striking and thought-provoking music video for “Why Die For Danzig,” which offers a biting commentary on society’s complicity in the war machine. However, the true highlight of the year came in July, when Soda Blonde performed a monumental sold-out show at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. Teaming up with the Irish National Symphony Orchestra, the band presented orchestral arrangements of Dream Big, blending the cinematic grandeur of a full orchestra with their signature sound. The evening was recorded and will soon be released as both a concert film and a live album, allowing fans to relive this unforgettable experience. Brudenell Presents... This is a 14+ event

Peter Bruntnell

The singer-songwriter performs his original material. Rolling Stone once declared Peter Bruntnell to be, “one of England's best kept musical secrets”. England has successfully managed to keep Peter Bruntnell a secret for all this time, even from itself. “Maybe this will be the album to finally give him the worldwide superstar recognition he deserves!”, enthused every other Peter Bruntnell album review from the last 20+ years, with an admirably unwavering optimism. “If we lived in a just world, Peter Bruntnell would by now be in the middle of his third or fourth global arena tour, his biggest worry working out how to courier his latest armful of Grammy awards back to the UK so his butler could have them installed in the west wing of mansion by the time he got home,” said a feature in The Guardian in 2016, intent on letting the cat out of the bag, but failing miserably. Needless to say, we don’t live in a just world and Peter Bruntnell is still having to get by without a butler. Rolling Stone once declared Peter Bruntnell to be, “one of England's best kept musical secrets”. Needless to say, we don’t live in a just world and Peter Bruntnell is still having to get by without a butler. Not even 2021’s primarily solo, slightly synthy lockdown album Journey To The Sun succeeded in putting an end to Peter's non-success, despite Mojo echoing the plea that, “Somehow, some way, this cult and infinitely class songwriter must get his due wider recognition”. The Scottish Daily Express with its 5 star review, slightly frustrated, said, or perhaps yelled, “I’m getting tired of saying this: He’s brilliant”. The Irish Times thoughtfully combined two quotes into one, saving us the trouble of going back and getting crushed under the sheer weight of Peter’s archive of press quotes: “With Journey To The Sun, the man whose songs NME once noted should be placed on school curriculums has done it again.” And he continues to do so. Peter’s forthcoming new album, Houdini And The Sucker Punch will do little to dispel this fantasy of world domination, but it remains unlikely to become in any way a reality. He will remain the secret singer-songwriter, lauded by the likes of Rumer, Son Volt/Uncle Tupelo's Jay Farrar, Kathleen Edwards, Richmond Fontaine/The Delines' Willy Vlautin, Kurt Wagner of Lampchop and various members of R.E.M.
Pachyman

Pachyman

4 Jun 2025 - 7 Jun 2025

Under the name Pachyman, Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Pachy García crafts rugged, old-school dub, dancehall, and roots reggae in the tradition of pioneers like Scientist and Lee "Scratch" Perry. Based in Los Angeles, Pachyman issued a pair of independent records in 2019 and 2020 before signing with ATO Records, which released The Return of Pachyman the following year. Growing up in Puerto Rico, García's early musical interests revolved around hardcore punk but as his tastes evolved he became fascinated with the experimental sounds of dub and roots reggae innovators like Scientist, Augustus Pablo, and King Tubby. After relocating to Los Angeles, he became heavily involved in the city's Dub Club scene and began building an arsenal of vintage instruments and equipment. While serving as the drummer and singer for L.A. synth-punk outfit Prettiest Eyes, García also began recording his own dub experiments, writing songs that reflected his mashup of retro tastes and playing all the instruments himself. His first collection as Pachyman, In Dub, appeared in 2019 via indie imprint Permanent Records. A second album, recorded in a similar fashion, arrived a year later, this time on the small vinyl label Mock Records. Titled At 333 House, a reference to the name of his home studio, it saw Pachyman venturing further into roots reggae territory. With his audience growing, ATO Records offered García a contract and released his third Pachyman album, The Return of Pachyman, in 2021. + Supports TBA
Sweet Pill

Sweet Pill

23 May 2025 - 28 May 2025

Sweet Pill has a style earmarked by an earnest ingenuity that many young artists are quick to romanticize and aspire to but slow to cultivate and execute. It takes time. For singer Zayna Youssef, guitarists Jayce Williams and Sean McCall, bassist Ryan Cullen, and drummer Chris Kearney, however, their 5 years together have seen their hard work rewarded tenfold in half as long as it would take almost anyone else. From their 2018 inception, Sweet Pill forged a storied path leading to this moment: the release of their new EP, Starchild, their first for new label home, Hopeless Records. There's a cinematic quality to Sweet Pill’s forming in college in New Jersey, converting a small school bus into a tour-ready, cross-country capable vehicle (complete with bunks!) and driving it to SXSW in efforts to draw attention to their newly growing passion. In true film fashion, Sweet Pill arrived at the world-famous Austin festival only to be informed of its cancellation as the introduction of shelter-in-place restrictions surrounding the emergence of COVID-19. Proceeding to return home, their converted vehicle buckled under the pressure of the excursion, leaving them stranded for several days in Baton Rouge, LA before returning to their new home of Philadelphia. Cud

Cud

11 Jul 2025 - 8 Nov 2025

Emerging from the same art/design cauldron that produced fellow Leeds legends Soft Cell, Scritti Politti, and The Mekons, CUD were the pre-Britpop answer to doleful shoegazing bands fun-loving, light-hearted, romantic and downright catchy. Alternatively loved or loathed like a yeast extract, CUD are indie rock for the unpretentious pleasure seeker, boasting as they do the rich deep-lunged voice of Carl Puttnam, edgy guitars of Mike Dunphy and tight, funky rhythm section of William Potter, bass and Gogs Byrn, drums. CUD were initially lauded for their quirky Peel session cover of You Sexy Thing in 1987. They soon built up a huge live following and buffed up their repertoire with a string of unstraight pop beauties, best exemplified by the 1990 album Leggy Mambo. This led to a major-label deal with A&M in 1991, front-page NME coverage, massive sellout gigs and proper Top 30 hits, Rich and Strange and Purple Love Balloon. Misunderstood by record companies and press, CUD packed away their guitars and sticks in 1995 but, bolstered by a greatest hits anthology (Rich and Strange) in 2006, they agreed to tread the boards again, with a further reunion following in 2012 (now with original guitarist and key songwriter Mike Dunphy) and continue to find an army of Space CUDets still eager to sing along, dance like fruitcakes and invade their stage.

The four piece once described themselves modestly as a band “who make loud riffs” though The Quietus description of “lurching noise-rock that occasionally works the angles but is chiefly a showpiece for big fuck-off riffs that call to mind Pissed Jeans, Nirvana and Harvey Milk” may be more accurate, and most certainly still holds true now. Since their debut album release in 2017, the band has garnered high praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1 & BBC 6Music, The Quietus, Artrocker (no.1 album of 2019), All Music, Loud & Quiet and Flush The Fashion, as well as finding fans among the likes of BBC Radio 6 presenter Shaun Keaveny, BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens & cult comedy legend Stewart Lee, whilst also sharing stages with such bands as Pigs x7, Melt Banana, JOHN, Ditz, No Age, Part Chimp, The Men, Hey Colossus, USA Nails, Sex Swing, Gnod, among many others! https://lowerslaughter.bandcamp.com/album/all-the-day-long-b-w-motions Presented by Love Thy Neighbour. Chase Petra

Chase Petra

27 Aug 2025 - 27 Aug 2025

Sugar-free presents: chase Petra \+ guests CHASE PETRA’s music has always been about growth: growing up, growing out, growing tired of what others expect of you. On their sophomore album, LULLABIES FOR DOGS (Wax Bodega), the Long Beach, CA trio once again elevates the existential questions that pepper life’s long, unpredictable journey. The follow-up to 2018’s Liminal, Lullabies for Dogs alternates timeless melodicism (the somber “Two Nights In New York” and hypnotic acoustic-based “Icarus”) and tireless energy (“Centrifugal Force” and “Bread And Circus,” which crash with the unpredictability of early Panic! At the Disco) - establishing Allen, drummer Evan Schaid and bassist Brooke Dickson as one of the emo scene’s most adroit acts. And it’s their sense of figuring things out in real time that makes Chase Petra so relatable, as the band’s “quarter-life-crisis pop” elevates deep introspection to navigate the messiness and confusion that comes with modern life. Their songs are guided by the age-old push-and-pull between what it means to grow up and be grown up, to see your once-bright dreams dulled by the responsibilities of adulthood and grapple with the fallout.
