Custard Club By Alice Harris-Deans

Custard Club By Alice Harris-Deans

24 May 2026 - 28 May 2026

Five women. Four decades. Twenty tins of custard. One delicious secret. Custard Club tells the story of Nancy, a young woman whose fraught search for queer community pushes her to the most sensible solution she can muster: summoning four women from across the twentieth century to her kitchen table for an unforgettable evening of passive aggression, genuine aggression, impromptu drag numbers and custard fights. As euphemisms and costumes slip to reveal hidden identities, Nancy realises that the cost of community is not the ignorance of difference, but the celebration and nurture of genuine authenticity. At times, Custard Club is a poignant look at queer costuming, coding and community-building, at others a campy, raucous spectacle. There are many fingers in many pies. Dubbed fondly as the lovechild of Top Girls and 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, Custard Club is a heart-wrenching, trans-historical, egg-based romp. Why not pull up a chair?

How baffling that people hear Charlie as she enunciates her name Rushali (ROO-SHA-LEE) In this debut comedy hour a cacophony unveils as you uncover that yes it is rude to call an Indian Aunty - a peanut eating pachyderm. Just like New York Citys sewer covers, Rushali was made in India - right in the heart of Bollywood - Mumbai. She smuggled herself( legally) into the USA in her twenties only to find herself in Amsterdam's comedy scene (no, not the red light district............... c'mon.. what a cliche!) attempting to make the Dutch laugh - a feat not for the faint hearted. As she navigates this world wondering if her dead grandmother is controlling it, she pays homage to Bollywood as one rightfully must when they are born dancing to its tunes.

Falstaff

Falstaff

4 Apr 2026 - 4 Apr 2026

The Ellen Terry Barn Theatre presents FALSTAFF by Robert Nye Considered by many to be one of Shakespeare's finest comic creations, Falstaff has been laughed at and loved by generations as the fat, vain, boastful knight who appears in Henry lV pts 1 & 2, The Merry Wives of Windsor and mentioned but not seen in Henry V. But did Shakespeare base his character on the real-life medieval knight, Sir John Fastolf? Fastolf fought in the battle of Patay, 1429, a disastrous battle for the English where his actions earned him a reputation (rightly or wrongly) for cowardice. As a professional soldier, he profited greatly from the French wars, acquiring significant amounts of French property and revenues. After his death in 1459 his fortune eventually passed to Magdalen College, Oxford, where there is now the Fastolf society, remembering him as a major benefactor. In his 1976 novel Falstaff, Robert Nye cleverly combined the Shakespearian Falstaff that we all know with elements of Sir John Fastolf (and a smidgen of artistic licence) to create a Falstaff that we only thought we knew.... A version of this play was first performed in the 1990's by RSC actor, David Weston. This version, adapted by Mike Stoneham from David Weston's original, premiered at the Ellen Terry Barn Theatre, Smallhythe in May 2022, produced by the Barn Theatre, directed by Peter Mould and performed by Mike Stoneham.

Brighton Fringe: The Skins By Kayleigh Benham
This anarchic comedy blends puppetry, pop-culture parody and a deep love for Princess Diana to create a fast paced and delightfully absurd performance. It's not one to be missed! When Jen discovers an underground lair of alien creatures with plans of world domination, she must do everything in her power to thwart their efforts before undercover extra-terrestrial Beryl Stump is elected the next UK Prime Minister. With the help of Princess Dianas diary and the noble efforts of her wonderful audience, Jen might just make it. The cast multi-role a range of characters, from Austin Powers to Larry, the Downing Street cat. Distinctive for its mix of satire, silliness, and audience collaboration, the show transforms unease about our current times into collective laughter. Using a range of puppets and larger than life props, the performance is very low-tech and visual. Expect to get involved as Jen reaches out for help saving the day. Beneath the absurdity lies a genuine question, what can we do when the world feels unjust and out of control? In this case, its simple. Gather together, take action, and find hope through shared experience. Halfway Down Theatre is a small, Brighton based theatre collective made up of predominantly queer artists. With a keen interest in stories of hope, they focus on amplifying LGBTQA+ voices and tales of taking action against unfairness. Known for creating bold, playful and emotionally resonant work, their previous production Saint was praised by Binge Fringe as ringing with soul and sensation. Camp, political, interactive and defiantly hopeful. This is a Fringe show for anyone who wants to laugh (instead of cry) at the current state of the world. For the sake of everything you hold dear, come along and help us save the planet.

Chris Ford: Jehovah's Witness For The Prosecution
Chris Ford, known for his sharp wit and infectious charm, brings his Work in Progress show, Jehovahs Witness for the Prosecution, to Brighton Fringe 2026. In this forty-minute set, with an opener from the London queer comedy circuit, Chris blends stories of growing up as a strict Jehovahs Witness with life as an A&E nurse. The result is an honest, heartfelt, and hilarious exploration of identity, belief, and resilience. Through sharp storytelling and self-deprecating humour, Chris reflects on his teenage years navigating faith, shame, and desire within a world where conformity was demanded and questioning was forbidden. From secret moments of queer awakening to the absurdities of Kingdom Hall life, he delivers comedy that is as emotionally raw as it is laugh-out-loud funny. Ghosts Of The Gilded Stage

Ghosts Of The Gilded Stage

27 May 2026 - 31 May 2026

A single actor stands before an empty stage, conjuring a lifetime in theatre through voice alone. The staging is described, not shown; the sign language lives onscreen. Every choice embodies radical accessibilitymaking this performance equally alive for Blind and Deaf audiences. Yet in a twist of irony, the venue itself is not wheelchair accessible. Within that contradiction, Ghosts of the Gilded Stage becomes both elegy and protest: a meditation on art, memory, and who gets to enter the room. Written by Jeanmarie Simpson and performed by Michael Rawley, this 50-minute solo play from Arizona Theatre Matters is a luminous act of inclusion, inviting us to listen differently and see anew.
Brighton Fringe 2026! Good Vibes By George Bartlett
A sharp and heartfelt stand-up show about sexual identity, therapy, dating disasters, and the messy search for happiness, told through the eyes of a gay man just trying to survive with, Good Vibes - a dark comedy stand-up show about the things we avoid talking about, until they spill out anyway. In this brutally honest, emotionally open hour, George Bartlett blends sharp comedy with moments of quiet reflection to explore sexuality, relationships, anxiety, loneliness and loss. Its a show about growing up, feeling left behind, and realising that adulthood doesnt arrive with the answers you were promised. Instead, youre left with self-doubt, bad decisions and a desperate urge to seem like youre doing fine. Rather than chasing punchlines at all costs, Good Vibes allows space for vulnerability, awkwardness and discomfort, trusting that the biggest laughs often come from the truth we recognise but rarely admit. George's storytelling moves between humour and sincerity, offering comedy that feels confessional without being self-indulgent, and dark without being detached. This is stand-up for people in their twenties and thirties who are tired of pretending theyre okay, who laugh at their own anxiety, and who find comfort in knowing someone else feels just as lost. Its honest, intimate and occasionally heavy, but always human. Good Vibes isnt about fixing anything. Its about sitting with the mess, laughing where you can, and finding connection in shared uncertainty. AGE SUTABILITY : 18+ RUNNING TIME : 60 minutes CONTENT WARNINGS : Strong Language
