Custard Club by Alice Harris-Deans

24 May 2026 - 28 May 2026

Five women. Four decades. Twenty tins of custard. One delicious secret. Custard Club tells the story of Nancy, a young woman whose fraught search for queer community pushes her to the most sensible solution she can muster: summoning four women from across the twentieth century to her kitchen table for an unforgettable evening of passive aggression, genuine aggression, impromptu drag numbers and custard fights. As euphemisms and costumes slip to reveal hidden identities, Nancy realises that the cost of community is not the ignorance of difference, but the celebration and nurture of genuine authenticity. At times, Custard Club is a poignant look at queer costuming, coding and community-building, at others a campy, raucous spectacle. There are many fingers in many pies. Dubbed fondly as the lovechild of Top Girls and 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, Custard Club is a heart-wrenching, trans-historical, egg-based romp. Why not pull up a chair?

Inspired by women of protest then and now, Cant Kill the Spirit is a moving story of reconciling personal and global choices and a timely reminder of the need for upstanders in a world of bystanders.

How baffling that people hear Charlie as she enunciates her name Rushali (ROO-SHA-LEE) In this debut comedy hour a cacophony unfolds as you uncover that yes, it is rude to call an Indian Aunty a 'peanut eating pachyderm'. Just like New York City's sewer covers, Rushali was made in India - right in the heart of Bollywood - Mumbai. She smuggled herself (legally) into the USA in her twenties only to find herself in Amsterdam's comedy scene (no, not the red light district) attempting to make the Dutch laugh - a feat not for the faint hearted. As she navigates this world, wondering if her dead grandmother is controlling it, she pays homage to Bollywood as one rightfully must when they are born dancing to its tunes.

This anarchic comedy blends puppetry, pop-culture parody and a deep love for Princess Diana to create a fast paced and delightfully absurd performance. It's not one to be missed! When Jen discovers an underground lair of alien creatures with plans of world domination, she must do everything in her power to thwart their efforts before undercover extra-terrestrial Beryl Stump is elected the next UK Prime Minister. With the help of Princess Dianas diary and the noble efforts of her wonderful audience, Jen might just make it. The cast multi-role a range of characters, from Austin Powers to Larry, the Downing Street cat. Distinctive for its mix of satire, silliness, and audience collaboration, the show transforms unease about our current times into collective laughter. Using a range of puppets and larger than life props, the performance is very low-tech and visual. Expect to get involved as Jen reaches out for help saving the day. Beneath the absurdity lies a genuine question, what can we do when the world feels unjust and out of control? In this case, its simple. Gather together, take action, and find hope through shared experience. Halfway Down Theatre is a small, Brighton based theatre collective made up of predominantly queer artists. With a keen interest in stories of hope, they focus on amplifying LGBTQA+ voices and tales of taking action against unfairness. Known for creating bold, playful and emotionally resonant work, their previous production Saint was praised by Binge Fringe as ringing with soul and sensation. Camp, political, interactive and defiantly hopeful. This is a Fringe show for anyone who wants to laugh (instead of cry) at the current state of the world. For the sake of everything you hold dear, come along and help us save the planet.

Who is responsible for the evil in this world? You didn't choose your family, upbringing or culture. No one had a choice. Not even Hitler. Well, then who is to blame? The universe has played a sick joke on us. If you hear the call, come join me for this psychedelic ritual as we attempt to reach the other side and summon... something. Born out of an accidental exorcism during a shamanic ceremony, 7-7-7 is a one-man ritual-performance that confronts the illusion of free will and our relationship with a Higher Power. It asks what drives people to commit acts of unspeakable evil and if we even have any choice in who we are and what we do. Part confessional story-telling, part seance, this dark comedy blends philosophical inquiry, theological absurdism and the theatricality of ritual. Quick and unpredictable 7-7-7 keeps the audience on their toes as it lightly dances between genres, liminal spaces and through the dark night of the soul.
Resonant Void

Resonant Void

29 May 2026 - 30 May 2026

Directly from Tokyo, Japan, Resonant Void is an experimental solo Butoh performance that moves through shifting states of presence, rupture, and quiet emergence. Using a mosquito net, plastic sheeting, two black skirts, and a portable lighting and projection system, the work creates a delicate terrain where the body meets materials that conceal, resist, and transform. The mosquito net forms a fragile chamber that holds breath and memory; the plastic sheets become boundaries that distort, shimmer, and eventually break; and the black skirts shift between creature, mask, shadow, and weight. Light and projection carve unstable edges, allowing the performer to drift between visibility and disappearance. Sound, gesture, and texture unfold in slow waves, inviting the audience into a contemplative space where identity loosens and meaning forms in the intervals between movements.
