Simon Evans: Have We Met?

26 Jan 2026 - 17 Oct 2026

Completing the Trilogy begun with Genius 2.0 and The Work of the Devil, Have We Met? finds Simon standing, like Ulysses in Tennyson’s famous verse, gazing out over the moaning deep and the twinkling rocks and wondering whether to seek a newer world? To smite the sounding furrows? To strive, to seek, and to find? Or whether in fact, to put the kettle on, crack open the Hobnobs and simply yield? Drawing on Joyce, Proust and the career of Philip Schofield to make sense of his own tangled past and possible future, Evans skilfully weaves comedy, pathos and narrowly averted cancellation into an unforgettable two hours of unique entertainment.

The recent success of the Greta Gerwig film, the nostalgia of the classic book, combined with a beautiful adaptation provides an exciting theatrical experience guaranteed to be a night (or afternoon!) filled with laughter, tears, and a heart-warming lifting of the spirits.

Ardal O'Hanlon - Not Himself

Ardal O'Hanlon - Not Himself

24 Sept 2025 - 27 Mar 2026

Oh, it’s all there! All the trademarks are in evidence in Ardal’s latest show. Beautifully crafted stand-up comedy? Yes. Celebrated use of language? Tick. Lateral thinking, surreal flourishes, sharp observations? Of course. As for the occasional profundity? Maybe. Despite his best attempts over many decades to put the world to rights, it is still a colossal mess. And so, Ardal has no choice but to go out on the road again. Like the good comedy doctor he is, he fearlessly diagnoses the various pathologies and neuroses that are currently ravaging humanity. Disclaimer: No solutions provided. After an alarming experience at the supermarket, Ardal reflects on who he is as a man and a comedian. He examines his own ethnic and religious background, and thinks twice about the very core of his identity as a voice of reason. Is everything a big lie? With no major trauma of his own to draw on for material, apart from the drag of getting older, he also turns his gaze outwards at the joys and follies of contemporary life. Towel Animals? A.I.? Chair Yoga? Cauliflower as a main course? Yes. Yes. Yes. And Yes. No current idiocy is left unexamined. With a highly developed sense of the ridiculous, and proper comedy bones, NOT HIMSELF, is a testament to the healing power of humour. And the joy of jokes.

1970s London. The streets awash with a fever of political unrest, the rhythm of the sound system culture is birthing a new era of soulful lover's rock, fusing RnB and reggae, amidst the covert Black Power Desk operations of New Scotland Yard. As tensions rise, the community rallies together to stand against injustices and racial divide. Black Power Desk is a powerful reimagining and exploration of what it means to love and fight for freedom. In an often male-dominated world, two sisters, Celia and Dina - both rooted in self-empowerment and fiercely committed to their community, both loyal and motivated by love - are divided by grief and radical politics. A moving story of sisters who need to reconnect for the sake of their community. But will the fight for their community be worth the damage to their sisterhood? Inspired by the historic Mangrove Nine Trial and brought to life by an original score performed by a live three-piece band, Black Power Desk is a musical soundtrack charting a fiercely emotive and politically charged era of often overlooked British history for today's generation. At a time of the rise of British Black Panthers, the onset of the Immigration Act 1971, the emergence of Black business ownership and the hails of a generation living through the racial tensions of Great Britain.

Stuntman

Stuntman

27 Sept 2025 - 27 Sept 2025

He says they made my hands into bombs. I'm waiting for him to say ‘you don't have to do this, it's ok. You don't have to do this.' Instead he says, ‘Jump on the spot. You're shaking. We can't let them see that you're shaking.'' Stuntman is a new performance for anyone who has ever enjoyed a violent action movie (but felt a bit weird about it). It is an intensely physical, funny, and tender duet by two men who wrestle with their relationship to violence - both onscreen and off. Fusing the Pow! Biff! and Wallop! of over-the-top stunt fights with personal stories of real encounters with violence from the performers' lives, Stuntman explores the relationship between violence and masculinity, and the impact this has on our perceptions of men. A fun and heartfelt show which is silly but caring and asks important questions about violence in action movies and violence in real life, how young men relate to it, and how it makes them feel.
Not Truly Dead

Not Truly Dead

25 Oct 2025 - 25 Oct 2025

Ghost stories by M R James Performed by R M Lloyd Parry "His eyes were very deep-sunk. And over them, from the brows to the cheek-bone, hung cobwebs. Thick, grey cobwebs." Three tales of the restless dead, by the master of the English ghost story. In Rats a reading holiday in a quiet coastal inn is thrown into confusion by a horribly thin Something, in a neighbouring room. In An Evening's Entertainment a blackberry thicket on a country lane conceals the site of a blasphemous and bloody rite. And in The Tractate Middoth the bookstacks of a University Library are host to an unnaturally strong smell of dust. There are no safe spaces in the world of M R James.

Black Sheep is a contemporary psalm about rural life, a razor-sharp account of the dilemmas facing generations of farming families.
Reckless Sleepers: Binary Opposition
On stage there is a large construction that resembles two rooms with identical walls and floors. A dividing wall, with the same configuration of doors and windows. For Binary Opposition We will play with entrances and exits, mistaken identities, extend the order of events from the drinking scene in Schrödinger, the mathematical logics of contacts from Negative Space. Spilling from one room into the other. In one side it might snow, in the other it might rain. In one room with our backs to the audience, the other facing front. . Simple ideas of taking scenarios from our existing work, smashing through from Negative Space into another scene from Schrödinger. There are a myriad of different scenarios that we can play with, and a bank of over 20 years of playing and presenting those ideas.

Impasse is a compelling exploration of ethnicity, identity, and the experience of the Black diaspora. Mufutau Yusuf's Impasse is an attempt to understand the politics of the Black body in a contemporary western society, interrogating notions of representation, misrepresentation, and the lack of representation. Impasse is a powerful, driving, high-speed performance with a set and props that reference African immigration, and confronting the biased narratives etched onto Black bodies throughout history. These narratives, steeped in cultural imperialism, violence, exploitation, marginalisation, and powerlessness, are laid bare with raw physicality and emotional intensity. By challenging the historical racial projections of blackness - its crudeness, threat, sexuality, rage and immorality - the performance unveils its power, grace, sensuality, tenderness, intelligence and love. Impasse goes beyond mere exploration and invites a reshaping of our sense of self and community. It reclaims our humanity and celebrates the autonomy and self-determination of Black bodies. Please note: Contains loud music, strobe lighting, nudity.

Three young Black men—linked by rhythm, trust, and shared histories—move through a choreography that draws from ballet, hip hop, and contemporary forms. Sung Im Her's 1 Degree Celsius

Sung Im Her's 1 Degree Celsius

4 Nov 2025 - 4 Nov 2025

Through her signature electrifying movement style, pulsating music and dynamic light design, Sung Im Her | Her Project's exhilarating new production 1 Degree Celsius invites us to consider the question: How can art spark action in the face of the climate crisis? Featuring seven dancers, 1 Degree Celsius (research title: The Breath Factory) looks at the topic of climate change and the effects it is having on the environment. As with all Her's work, music and light form an essential and innovative character in the production. A new musical score has been created using data collected from rising atmospheric temperatures, and the lighting design is co-ordinated to the rising temperature of the earth. At the beginning of the creation process, Her considered the question: Is the way we live our daily lives truly sustainable, and what are the consequences of our choices? Modern life prioritizes efficiency—producing more, consuming more, earning more, and spending more. While urban living offers comfort and convenience, it also leaves behind an unsettling legacy for future generations. How can we change? What can we do? These small, seemingly powerless questions often vanish into the void, unheard. Whilst the title 1 Degree Celsius may seem insignificant, even the slightest shift in temperature poses a grave threat to all living things on Earth. In this production, Her asks us to consider how no action is too small—every gesture matters in shaping the future we wish to create.
Ontroerend Goed - Handle With Care

Ontroerend Goed - Handle With Care

5 Nov 2025 - 5 Nov 2025

Handle with Care is theatre stripped down to its essence. No actors, no technicians. Just a box. And you.  A box is mailed to the theatre.  The instructions are clear: Invite a group of people, on a specific night, at a specific time. Let the audience take their seats. Place the box at the centre of the stage. The audience is waiting. And then an audience member stands up and opens the box. The show has started. In Handle with Care, Ontroerend Goed puts you in control. We provide the structure; you shape the experience. Choose your role—take the lead or observe as others make choices that steer the performance in unexpected directions. Together, you create something special: a shared experience filled with reflections on time, transience, and togetherness.  And don't worry—there are no wrong choices in Handle with Care. You've got this. For one hour, you'll live something unique, fleeting, and unrepeatable.  Here. Now. Together. No one is watching. What is yours, stays yours. Take good care of it. And send us a postcard.  Age Guidance: 14+
Vermin

Vermin

22 Nov 2025 - 22 Nov 2025

Their first kiss took place at the scene of a stranger's suicide attempt - Billy and Rachel's romance was never destined to be ordinary. A fast-burning love sees them marry, nest, and prepare for the future. But something is scratching beneath the floorboards. As their dream home is invaded by rats, the world they've built begins to disintegrate - exposing the rotten foundations beneath. As their relationship falters and their behaviours grow ever stranger, the fragile line between love and madness is crossed, and the couple embark on a blood-drenched descent through grief, obsession, and compulsion. Vermin is a pitch-black psychodramedy about what we bury, what claws its way back, and what remains when we're picked clean to the bone. As the British Theatre Guide writes, "It taps into a deeply rooted fear, not only of that which creeps, crawls and scuttles beneath the floor and within the walls, but of that which festers and broods in those closest to us." Nigel Planer - Young Once Live

Nigel Planer - Young Once Live

5 Oct 2025 - 6 Oct 2025

Nigel Planer, beloved as Neil the hippy from The Young Ones and a founding figure of the 80s alternative comedy scene, brings his memoir Young Once to life in a warm, sharply funny live show of storytelling. From the wild early days at The Comedy Store to the chaotic brilliance of The Comic Strip Presents, Filthy Rich & Catflap and beyond - to West End musicals and hit pop records - Nigel will share a trove of outrageous tales of the backstage chaos that shaped a generation of comedy: from 20-foot-éclair-related injuries to gatecrashing raves with Robin Williams, Top of the Pops and Band Aid, to auditioning for a stony-faced Robert De Niro. Alongside the laughs, he will reflect on the bittersweet moments behind the scenes - the friendships, fame and rivalries, and the winding path of a creative life. Woven throughout the show is a moving, often mischievous account of the long, on-off-on-again love story between Nigel and his wife Roberta, and a life lived somewhere between the footlights and the fallout. Full of dry wit, theatrical flair and a knack for finding humour in both disaster and triumph, don’t miss the once-young Nigel as he offers a wildly entertaining and gloriously sideways glimpse into his quietly remarkable career, in a show that is part performance, part confession and all heart.

Schalk Bezuidenhout

Schalk Bezuidenhout

15 Feb 2026 - 28 Feb 2026

Schalk Bezuidenhout is a comedian from South Africa who is a household name in all households that know his name. More specifically, he grew up in Kempton Park in the East Rand. If you don’t know Kempton… it’s the type of place you thank one day in your Oscar speech as your “humble beginnings”. In Kempton Park the traditional Afrikaans way of living was a good life. You would ride your bicycle to school and English was only used in self defence. Schalk finished school with a distinction for every subject. That has nothing to do with his comedic abilities, he just wanted you to know that. Schalk’s family and friends stood back as they watched Schalk evolve from an Afrikaans conservative caterpillar into a beautifully dramatic butterfly, complete with a moustache and furry afro. It was obvious to Schalk’s parents that he would study drama, and to help numb the pain they sent him away to study at the University of Cape Town. While studying in Cape Town Schalk quickly grew dissatisfied with watching Suits on repeat in his single bed (look where Meghan is now, hey?!) His drama degree was still 4 years away, but he needed a creative outlet NOW! So he started doing stand-up comedy in April 2011. On stage Schalk is fun and energetic and appeals to all. Schalk has come a far way since his first paid gig in a strip club in Kempton Park (true story). He has had the privilege to perform all over the world in some great venues, alongside some even greater comedians. On stage Schalk is fun and energetic and appeals to people of all kinds and colours.

When a wealthy stranger offers him an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy to bring home his wayward son, Dickie Greenleaf, Tom leaps at the opportunity. But in the sun-drenched glamour of 1950s Italy, surrounded by shimmering waters and whispered secrets, Tom is seduced by the life Dickie leads—the freedom, the wealth, the effortless charm. Fascination turns to obsession, and as his grip tightens on Dickie's world, the lines between truth and deception begin to blur. What starts as an innocent opportunity spirals into a chilling game of lies, identity theft, and murder.

Albert Herring Benjamin Britten From Boy, to King, to Man.  In this ENO debut at Lowry, join us for May Day celebrations in a fresh and witty new take on Britten's much-loved coming-of-age comedy.  Following the success of ENO's previous semi-staged productions at the London Coliseum - Gloriana, Duke Bluebeard's Castle, and Suor Angelica - Albert Herring will be directed and designed by multi-award winning Antony McDonald and conducted by Daniel Cohen. Loxford, 1943. A typical small market town, where nothing escapes the eye of Lady Billows and her housekeeper Florence Pike. When there are no virtuous girls left in the village, the Queen of the May organising committee decide to break with tradition and crown the shy and innocent greengrocer's boy Albert Herring as King of the May. But heavy is the head that wears the May King crown, and Albert's friend Sid intervenes with some mischievous assistance as Albert accepts his fate and the cash prize. Join us as Albert's newfound village status leads to an alcohol-fuelled night of debauchery and self-discovery.  This funny, quirky and off-centre opera is the perfect commentary on small town eccentricities and will be sure to set curtains twitching and tongues wagging. Composed in 1947, Benjamin Britten demonstrates his versatility by creating a good-natured comedy with just thirteen instruments. From its gentle ribbing of English Victorian music to its sly quote from Wagner, his light-hearted touch lets the humour shine through the music. Our unlikely rebel Albert is played by tenor Caspar Singh, and Mrs Herring, his over-bearing mother, is played by Leah-Marian Jones, Emma Bell plays Lady Billows, Mark Le Brocq plays Mr Upfold, the Mayor with Sir Willard White as Superintendent Budd.

Chevalier: Hobbyhorse Circus

Chevalier: Hobbyhorse Circus

18 Feb 2026 - 19 Feb 2026

Chevalier - Hobbyhorse Circus is an irresistibly charming homage to the magnificent horses of circus and the silent movie era. Drawing inspiration from the history of traditional horse circuses, Kalle Lehto's ringmaster performs acrobatics, juggling and balancing with an amazing cast of hobby horses. As the horses take centre stage on the small manege, part of the ringmaster's story is told in short silent movies accompanied by old time silent movie music. Kalle's playful work with the hobby horses, natural comedic sense and the fluid movement of a breakdancer bring the magic of circus alive - completed by Sami Tammela's genius music and traditional circus soundscapes with electronic elements. Chevalier is the 3rd part of Kalle Lehto's trilogy of circus shows for children - following the highly popular "Around - Ympäri ämpäri" and "Circles - Kommellusten kabaree".

11 Apr 2026 - 11 Apr 2026

A Hilarious and Epic Adventure! What happens when a cinema's Lord of the Rings marathon goes terribly wrong? At the local cinema, all hell breaks loose when the ushers misplace the DVDs of The Lord of the Rings trilogy - every single copy! With only the soundtracks left in hand, the team of hapless ushers must somehow improvise an entire three-film saga in front of a live audience. Get ready for an uproarious evening of comedy, chaos, and utter nonsense, as they attempt to recreate the epic tale of hobbits, elves, and orcs - without any visuals, any planning, or any clue what they're doing. Will Frodo ever make it to Mordor? Will Aragorn get crowned king? Will Gollum stop stealing the show? Will anyone even remember who's supposed to be who?! It's a show that's more fun than a barrel of hobbits, and definitely more chaotic than a Gandalf speech. If you've ever wanted to see Gollum fight a battle with sound effects, or Gandalf desperately trying to remember what happens next, then you're in for a hilarious treat!

With politicians the world over striving to outdo each other in splattering their people with a cocktail of incompetence, inexplicability and insatiable dishonesty, Andy, the universe's leading and only 2-in-1 political-comedian-and-professional-cricket-statistician, harnesses the combined 21st-century witchcraft of A.I. and his live audience. Between them, they will concoct vaguely plausible answers to perennially troublesome questions such as What?, Who?, When?, Where?, and above all Why? WARNING: May feature talking penguin. "Who else offers so many sideswipes at the status quo? Constantly amusing and stimulating. properly funny. a true original and a true delight." Dominic Maxwell, The Times ★★★★ "Zaltzman is a master of lacerating satire mixed with extreme silliness, topped off with a dash of the surreal. a peerless set from comedy's finest cricket-loving, satirical Taskmaster champion." Mark Wareham, The Mail on Sunday ★★★★ "Topical laughs with a surreal ripple. This is irreverent humour with a mocking edge so sharp you could cut a diamond with it. reduced most of the people around me to tears of laughter" Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard ★★★★

Then it’s over to your questions: your chance to ask how it all works for him, what he’s most proud of, and what he says to the many who ask, “You wouldn’t be allowed to do your stuff today, would you?” Don’t miss an unforgettable evening with a brilliantly silly and strikingly insightful comedian.
