Laurence Jones

Laurence Jones

30 May 2025 - 7 Jun 2025

Although Laurence doesn’t need too much of an introduction in the music business, for those that haven’t had the chance to see him yet, it’s well worth sharing a thing or two about this artist! He sings, he plays and he writes -- a triple craft -- and he does so like a veteran twice his age, but absolutely no ego and with both feet firmly on the ground! Hailed as 'one to watch' as a teenager by the blues media, concert/festival bookers, blues fans and various guitar stars alike, young Laurence really has come of age. The blues cub has become a man with a plan, turning heads and making jaws drop with his take-no-prisoners, incendiary live set and stunning records. Laurence and his crack band -- Jones on vocals and guitars, Roger Inniss on bass and Phil Wilson on drums -- put the power into power trio, with their modern day blues rock with an edge.

With elements of jam band, traditional blues, soul and rock and roll, with touches of New Orleans, Alabama and small town Ontario, with influences from The Band, Duane Allman, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Black Crowes and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, with solid musicianship based in jazz, and with gritty, raw and emotional vocals, Bywater Call seeks to strike to the core of all who list
GA-20

GA-20

10 Jun 2025 - 15 Jun 2025

GA-20 clearly is on to something big. It’s a movement, a new traditional blues revival. The dynamic, throwback blues trio are disciples of the place where traditional blues, country and rock ‘n’ roll intersect. “We make records that we would want to listen to,” says guitarist Matt Stubbs. “It’s our take on the song-based traditional electric blues we love.” Stubbs, guitarist/vocalist Pat Faherty, and drummer Tim Carman have been at the forefront of this traditional blues revival since they first formed in 2018. It’s no wonder they skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard Blues Chart. According to Stubbs, “Since we started the band we’ve focused on the story, the melody, and on creating a mood. Playing live as much as we do, we’re finding more and more that people are discovering how cool it all is. Traditional country, soul and funk music have all had these massive recent revivals, but traditional blues so far has not.” With their new Colemine album, Crackdown, and an intensive tour schedule, that’s all about to change. On Crackdown, GA-20’s third full-length release, the band creates an unvarnished, ramshackle blues that is at once traditional and refreshingly modern. Expanding on their previous releases (2019’s Lonely Soul and 2021’s Try It…You Might Like It! GA-20 Does Hound Dog Taylor) GA-20 finds inspiration on the edges of the genre, where early electric blues first converged with country and rock ‘n’ roll. The album’s nine original songs include the loping, Louisiana-flavoured Dry Run, the dirty, and bare-bones Easy On The Eyes and the melodic, garage-tinged Fairweather Friend. With tight, propulsive performances and a brevity and punk energy reminiscent of The Ramones, Crackdown is rowdy and fun, filled with instantly memorable, and well-crafted songs.

The Commoners Live In Faversham

The Commoners Live In Faversham

28 May 2025 - 28 May 2025

Possessing a sound tapped from the oaken belly of a whiskey barrel, The Commoners are a five-piece Roots/Rock outfit from Toronto, Canada. Offering their own blend of a tried and true musical mixture, the group pepper their sound with high-energy riffs, soulful vocals, and rich harmonies that combine to take the listener on a journey through a Southern-style rock experience. The band is a culmination of like-minded musicians who have bonded over their love of the classics. All being seasoned performers in the Canadian music scene, Chris Medhurst (lead vocals/guitar), Ben Spiller (bass/vocals), Ross Hayes Citrullo (lead guitar), Adam Cannon (drums/vocals), and Miles Evans-Branagh (keys/vocals) have united under a shared dream: to write, perform, and share music that is an authentic nod to the greats who paved the way before them. The Black Crowes and Led Zeppelin are big influences for us. Derek Trucks, Marcus King, and the Allman Brothers, of course, as well. These are the bands that we wear on our sleeves as we continue to evolve our sound and create our own music. Channeling their deep respect and admiration for Roots/Rock trailblazers, The Commoners also incorporate rhythmic stylings inspired by Motown and Souls groove masters. The keystone of their unique blend is lead singer, Chris Medhursts emotive vocal style, akin to Burton Cummings and Paul Rodgers with a dash of Sam Cooke and Otis Redding.
