Anenon

19 Jun 2026 - 19 Jun 2026

Anenon - Saxophonist, producer and composer Brian Allen Simon explores darker hues, transposing waking and altered states under his studio veil Anenon. On the deeply evocative new album ‘Dream Temperature’, he shifts electronic processing to the foreground, introducing digitized wind instruments and unworldly atmospherics, not heard since his innovating mid-late 2010s output. A longtime Los Angeles resident, born and raised, Brian Allen Simon has expressively operated under the moniker Anenon, releasing the highly revered ‘Petrol’ (2016), ‘Tongue’ (2018) and the viscerally beautiful ‘Moons Melt Milk Light’ (2023), in a line of unwavering musical dialogues. While the penultimate album was a deliberate, reductive, entirely acoustic detour that was born out of a want to unplug, ‘Dream Temperature’ sees Brian primed with a newly discovered wind synthesizer as his central compositional tool, alongside acoustic piano and tenor saxophone. Ralph Heidel \- Ralph Heidel's third studio album, "anyways. onto better things," is his most personal and intimate work to date, focusing on hope while not shying away from heaviness. With a wink, he bids farewell to a time when making music became a survival strategy. Artists: We are always interested in hearing from talented artists. Sam Prekop & John Mcentire (the Sea And Cake)
"For the past 30-plus years, Prekop and McEntire have been involved in some of the best of -the-beaten-path music to emerge from the Chicago experimental/indie scene, be it together as members of the Sea and Cake or as solo artists and producers. It’s no surprise then that their first album as a duo is a stone-cold stunner, filtering their distinct sensibilities through all manner of vintage synthesizers, ef ects, and samplers... Sons Of is the rare album capable of soundtracking dead-of-night, soul-searching drives, one-man dance parties, and impromptu romance - maybe all in the same evening" - SPIN, Best Albums of 2022 #17 Sam Prekop is a Chicago-based musician, composer, and visual artist best known as the frontman of The Sea and Cake, whose solo work explores lush modular synthesizer compositions and experimental pop. Over the past two decades he has built a distinctive sound that blends minimalism, melody, and warm electronic textures. John McEntire is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and recording engineer widely recognized for his work with Tortoise and as a member of The Sea and Cake. Renowned for his detailed production style and inventive percussion, McEntire has helped shape the sound of modern experimental and indie music both in the studio and on stage. Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy

10 Oct 2026 - 10 Oct 2026

Baba Yaga's Hut present: Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy at The Old Church, October 10th Following our previous church organ shows with Sarah Davachi, Kali Malone and Ellen Arkbro we are continuing our Organ Series on October 10th at The Old Church in Stoke Newington with an organ and cello performance by Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy celebrating the reissue of their amazing album She Came Through the Window to Stand by the Door. You can listen to it on Bandcamp here https://nataliabeylis.bandcamp.com/album/she-came-through-the-window-to-stand-by-the-door Recorded at St Georges Church, Carrick On Shannon, Leitrim on a cold early January with a William Telford Organ. Built in 1846, it is reputed to be the second oldest organ in Ireland. TRACK 1/SIDE A: 'Pour Upon The Sky' is a story told by the two voices of cello and organ. Influenced by the rhetorical style of 18th century vocal music, the inspiration for this piece came naturally to Eimear who has a background in early music and has performed alongside the organ in a variety of settings from chamber works to Bach's larger orchestral works such as St Matthew Passion. In 18th century music, the cello & organ perform a role as continuo players. Traditionally the cello and organ are both intertwined and interdependent, playing the bass line and harmonies together and providing a foundation for the rest of the ensemble while soloists come in and out. In 'Pour Upon The Sky', Eimear and Natalia play within and without of this traditional form. Freed from the need to hold the solid ground for an ensemble, the cello and organ playfully explore the space as they pass the role of solo and continuo back and forth. TRACK 2/SIDE B: 'The Whistling Dust' is a slow steady study of the microscopic flutters of the organs and the organ. The heart of the Telford rattles and breathes as the cello dances in and out. When Natalia & Eimear began working on these pieces in the cold January, the Telford, which seemed like it had been sitting quietly for quite some time, shook and trembled as its insides were awoken. 'The Whistling Dust' speaks to the moment when the instrument moved alive, every opened stop knob of the pipes bringing the feel of the microsounds of the machine closer and closer as the cello offers utterances of encouragement. Alison Cotton is a London based composer, vocalist, and multi instrumentalist whose music centres on viola, harmonium, and layered vocal drones. Originally from Sunderland, she first emerged in the UK underground in bands including Saloon, The Eighteenth Day of May, and more recently, The Left Outsides before beginning her solo career in 2018. Her debut, All Is Quiet at the Ancient Theatre introduced her long form, place inspired approach to composition. This was followed with Only Darkness Now and The Portrait You Painted of Me, both acclaimed for their immersive atmospheres and emotional depth. All three albums appeared in The Quietus’ End of Year lists, with Only Darkness Now topping their New Weird Britain chart and The Portrait You Painted of Me was also Folk Record of the Month in The Guardian. Her music has received regular airplay on BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6 Music, and she has recorded sessions for Late Junction, Riley & Coe, and The New Music Show. When Alison Cotton plays, the world stands still.” The Quietus “Alison Cotton’s music speaks of places, people and stories not quite of this world, while orchestrating folk and drone elements meticulously, as if following an arcane ritual.” The Wire “Her exquisite voice calls to mind both the chill of the best British folk...and the psychedelic detail of Occitanian traditional song.” Uncut Magazine “Some of the most moving, powerful music you’re likely to hear this year.” NARC Magazine Please Please You & Brudenell Presents... Champion Trees

Champion Trees

10 Jun 2026 - 10 Jun 2026

Champion Trees - formed when cousins Francis Christie (vocal, guitar) and Lex Pienaar (bass) got together with drummer Langa Dubazana at the University of Cape Town. Taking notes from 90s luminaries Belle & Sebastian and Pavement, they set out to have fun with music and language, building a following on the back of their well-received 2022 debut album NOW 3000. The lush arrangements of newly released second album A Duck’s Water Off My Back are a marked departure from the lean production of the band’s early material, thanks in part to the addition of new members James Bickford-Smith (violin, synthesizers), Michael Burke (saxophone), and Michelle Hromin (clarinet), whose contributions have brought new textural depth to the music. Liv Wright - is an indie singer-songwriter whose introspective vocals and folk-influenced melodies shine through releases like the 2018 album Swim in the Ocean and Sky, 2020’s Sweet Between, and the recent single “Pink Mountains.” Inspired by nature’s cycles and patterns, she weaves nostalgia into intimate sonic landscapes that explore themes of longing, memory, and self-discovery. Her understated artistry and poetic sensibility mark her as a distinctive voice in the contemporary indie folk scene. Artists: We are always interested in hearing from talented artists. Biita Houdei

Biita Houdei

14 Oct 2026 - 14 Oct 2026

Shaped in the shadows and sounds of the legendary Topanga Canyon, the music of Biita Houdei is buoyed by a magic that feels beautifully untamed; wild-hearted sentiments shaped by the world around them, and by a fascination with the enchantment of it all. The debut single ‘Life Inside The Hourglass’ sees time stretch and recline, an animated sub-three-minute strum that Biita says dropped into her mind “from a ghost of sorts” and was written in just twenty minutes. A reflection on outgrowing old ways, and the humble nature of being witnessed. Vocals weave together in a beautiful harmonic dance, seasons shift, sunshine appears and bold psychedelic colours warm the horizon. “I wanted to capture the feeling of being in a void, without ties to space and time. In this shrouded space, I felt the gentle pull to be vulnerable- both in the joyful and sad moments of the performance.” Biita says about the music video for Life Inside the Hourglass. Life Inside the Hourglass, produced with the help of fellow songwriter and friend Haley Heynderickx in her first lead production role, is also the first music Biita (pronounced “bee-tah”) is releasing under her newly-taken moniker. One that was gifted to her by her auntie and means "unique" in the Farsi language.“I proudly take this name,” says Biita, who now calls the Catskills her home. “This name makes me feel closer to my Persian heritage.” Presented by Bird On The Wire All ages (u18s w/ adult 21+)

Maria Taylor

Maria Taylor

21 Oct 2026 - 24 Oct 2026

Maria Taylor - Maria Taylor is a singer-songwriter celebrated for her hushed vocals, cinematic atmospheres, and emotionally resonant storytelling - both as a solo artist and as a founding member of Azure Ray. Her forthcoming album, Story’s End, unfolds like a hazy, widescreen narrative, with each song acting as a chapter tracing love, loss, fracture, and the quiet search for solace in the aftermath. Written over several years and shaped by profound personal upheaval, the record finds Taylor expanding the signature elements of her work - bell-like piano, sweeping strings, and intimate lyricism - into something more nuanced, expansive, and ultimately life-affirming. Recorded between her California home studio and ARC Studios in Omaha, Story’s End features collaborations with Mike Mogis, Ben Brodin, Brad Armstrong, Conor Oberst, Nate Walcott, and others. The album gradually arrives at a fragile but powerful sense of transformation and hope. At once journal-like and cinematic, Story’s End offers listeners a space for reflection and consolation, paying close attention to the fleeting moments that quietly give life its meaning.
