Pop Mutations & Freakender present: Mini Skirt + Special Guests MINISKIRT - hit like a sunburn, with a dry, stinging take on modern Australian punk. With a starting spot in France’s Binic Festival and a supporting slot with fellow Aussies Amyl and The Sniffers in Italy it’s clear their sound has takenhold. Paying homage to Australian pioneers such as X and Radio Birdman, Mini Skirts sound remains raw and honest it’s no surprise they remain close to Australian alumni the Cosmic Psychos, and COFFIN. The Cosmic Dead + Attack Of The Stick Insects + The First Morning // The Old Hairdressers - Glasgow
The Cosmic Dead are an amorphous blob of wah-drivenspace rock energy beaming in to their home planet of Glasgow to launch their tenth album, 'Beyond The Beyond' out April 17th on Heavy Psych Sounds. The Cosmic Dead's exploratory compositions often reach levels of sonic destruction through reflective repetition and visceral harmony. The band has taken many forms since their inception in 2010 and was hailed as "the loudest psychedelic rock band on the planet" by legendary compere Kozmik Ken. At the base of the current sonic obliteration team is a rhythm section of Tommy Duffin and Omar Aborida, a thunderous and cohesive unit that is then further propelled into the outer realms by Luigi Pasquini, providing frantic italo synthesized electronics along with Calum Calderwood's mind-bending, sky-shattering fiddle acrobatics. 'Beyond the Beyond' is an open gate into the farthest reaches of the fiery foursome's realms. Far from 2024's urgent and jam-driven Infinite Peaks, this new album sees the band at their most focused, casting their gaze towards the Middle East with four intoxicating songs propelled by riff-rolling fusion-tinged rhythms, head-bobbing grooves and warm electronic textures, all wah-laden and with phasers set to destroy. An absolute feast for the ears and heart for fans of The Ohsees, Carlton Melton, resund Space Collective, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Electric Moon and outer space. Support comes from the driven heavy punk action of Attack of the Stick Insects along with trans-continental psychedelic conquistadors The First Morning. Times: 19:00 - Doors 19:30 til 20:00 - The First Morning 20:15 til 20:45 - Attack of the Stick Insects 21:00 til end - The Cosmic Dead
