The Place

A centre for contemporary dance uniting dance training, creation and performance in one space. The venue hosts dance classes for adults and children, vocational training as part of London Contemporary Dance School and is home to touring company Richard Alston Dance Company. The in-house theatre, the Robin Howard Dance Theatre, presents over 200 performances a year, including a new year platform season Resolution!, and Spring Loaded, a season of works by independent UK artists supported by The Place. The nearest tube stations to The Place are Euston and King's Cross St Pancras, where there are also car parks. There are metered parking spaces in the roads around The Place and reserved spaces for Blue Badge holders outside each entrance.

Running time: 90 mins with 20 min interval Suitable for ages 11+ Warning: This programme contains loud music, the use of haze and flashing lights Emergence, the touring postgraduate dance company of Joss Arnott Dance and the University of Salford, presents a brand-new, triple bill programme of adrenaline-fuelled dance performed by a new company of extraordinary dancers. New works by guest choreographers for 2025 include Sofia Nappi and SAY (Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui) who capture the raw physicality of the dancers. Artistic Director Joss Arnott and Lisa Marie Robinson complete the bill with a new work featuring Arnott’s signature, exhilarating movement language. Be prepared to witness an exquisite interplay between movement and music all of which is accompanied by electrifying new music by composer James Keane.

Longing to reconnect with Hong Kong, artist Winnie Ho uses the concept of wok chi (鑊氣), the fleeting energy of wok cooking, as a metaphor for her diasporic and queer identity. Part of Queer East Festival, this performance blends live art with immersive scenography to explore cultural loss and memory.

"Thrilling and experimental" - Time Out A Festival of Korean Dance is returning to The Place for its eighth year! Join us from 7 - 24 May for a celebration of the best of Korea's contemporary dance scene. Korea National Contemporary Dance Company will headline with Jungle, the festival's largest show to date, featuring a 17-strong ensemble. Drawing on an unconventional movement research method developed by KNCDC's artistic director Sung-young Kim, Jungle is an epic spectacle from an internationally renowned company.
Shubbak Festival: The Love Behind My Eyes by Ali Chahrour
This poetic and deeply political dance is anchored in the stories, legends, and lyrical poetry of the Arab patrimony. Full of radical tenderness and breathtaking slowness, two bodies full of sensuality and love are overcome by great sadness and infinite oppression. Part of Shubbak Festival, platforming contemporary Arab cultures across London.
