Catastrophe strikes! It’s Christmas Eve and Santa has gone missing… Join the Starchitects on their daring mission into space to save him. In this brilliant festive show for families from world-renowned dance-circus company Motionhouse, dive into the magic of childhood imagination where anything is possible…when the empty boxes from Christmas presents can transform into a rocket and take you on countless thrilling adventures. Full of fun and surprises, gravity-defying choreography, and sprinkled with humour, Starchitects Save Santa! is an exciting intergalactic Christmas story for the whole family! Duration. Divination. Invocation. Congregation. Haunting. Building upon Marikiscrycrycry’s decade-long practice of motorising otherwise fatalistic and marginal perspectives, Hang Time engages an emergent mode of creation that is at once genre-defying and spiritually itinerant. Suspended between bouyon and soca, séance, ritual, social gathering, and catastrophe, the work transforms hanging into a social, historical, choreographic, and metaphysical condition. Through states of endurance, collapse, congregation, and reverberation, Hang Time listens to the gulf in order to sense what remains suspended in the air after disappearance.

The Place’s annual showcase of dance created and curated with young people for the young at heart. This vibrant evening presents a mixed bill of bite-sized performances as professional and youth companies share our stage for the night. The audience experience is raucous and electric, as budding dance enthusiasts rub shoulders with professionals.

Join us for an evening of repertory work by Hofesh Shechter Company, performed by the students of London Contemporary Dance School's MA Dance: Performance programme. The evening will begin with a company class on stage, offering audiences an insight into the company’s movement language and daily practice. This will be followed by excerpts of repertoire from Hofesh Shechter’s extensive choreographic portfolio. There will be a post-show talk following the matinee performances with students from the MA, exploring the experiences behind the restaging process.

For two decades, Collaborations, now renamed The Peter Farley Collaborations Project has been a distinguished fixture in London Contemporary Dance School's performance calendar. This year's showcase highlights the convergence of creative synergies between BA student choreographers from London Contemporary Dance School and student designers from the BA Theatre Design course at Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL. The result is a diverse collection of pieces, ranging from large-scale constructions to inventive use of the theatre space itself, all indicative of the daring and imaginative cross-pollination of ideas. Join us in exploring groundbreaking works that push the boundaries between dancers and designers, as we continue to challenge and redefine these roles in contemporary dance

A striking new ensemble piece, bringing together three generations of butoh lineage for the first time on a UK stage. An homage to Kazuo Ohno, one of butoh's founding fathers, and his philosophy of dance as something spontaneous and unrepeatable, it is led by Mitsuyo Uesugi, who trained and performed alongside him for decades (including at The Place in 1980). For this once-in-a-lifetime gathering, she is joined by four extraordinary artists: Makiko Takamatsu, Seiji Tanaka and MUTSUMINEIRO, each shaped by her practice and bringing her own fierce, distinctive voice to this living continuation of Ohno's spirit.

Rebellious Bodies Festival comes to London for two nights of radical Japanese butoh dance. Butoh is an avant-garde dance form born of fierce experimentation in post-war Japan, and this festival aims to hold true to that spirit, bringing five contemporary Japanese butoh dancers to the UK. This evening features four short butoh performances. MUTSUMINEIRO return to the UK after a sell-out performance in 2025 with The Last Two, a magical duet in which their two distinct worlds collide. Seiji Tanaka’s UK debut Pulse of Absence trembles in the space between the visible and the invisible. Makiko Takamatsu's Naked Rabbit offers a darkly playful solo inspired by one of Japan's oldest myths. The evening culminates with A Requiem for Her, as the legendary Mitsuyo Uesugi, 76, returns to The Place for the first time in 46 years, when she performed alongside Kazuo Ohno.

Peek behind the velvet curtain of The Dirty Work, a new solo performance by Jo Bannon. Blending the tricks of the trade – a white rabbit, a magic wand, a puff of smoke – with her lived experience of visual impairment, Bannon invites you to glimpse a world where truth and illusion, performance and reality converge. Through delicate choreography and magician’s patter, which reveals more than it conceals, she unveils the invisible labour that shapes how we navigate the world - balancing effortlessly between what is seen and unseen. Through a Crip lens and with a trick up her sleeve, Bannon reveals ‘the dirty work’ that often goes unnoticed on stage and in everyday life. This isn’t just a magic show; it’s a meditation on visibility, disability, and the unseen labour we all perform. Say ‘white rabbit’ three times, and see the magic unfold before your very eyes!

Hildegard of Bingen The highly anticipated new work from award-winning choreographic duo Ekleido (Hannah Ekholm and Faye Stoeser); Femina questions how femininity is perceived, embodied and valued through time. Enter a mesmerising world characterised by Ekleido’s signature fusion of contemporary and club styles, where six dancers commune and transcend through an electronic musical landscape. Set to an original score by world-renowned musicians Floating Points (Mercury Prize nominee), Ela Minus and Stella Mozgawa, Femina looks at the spectrum of femininity in a layered, electrifying performance.
