Kid's Theatre A Home for Hamish

Kid's Theatre A Home for Hamish

18 Apr 2026 - 18 Apr 2026

A brand new family production from Just Us is set to tour across Scotland this Autumn. A Home for Hamish is a vibrant and sensory performance for children aged 4-7 and their families, combining playful storytelling, movement, dance and British Sign Language in a joyful celebration of imagination and friendship. Created by Deaf dance artist Clare Adam (she/they) and Autistic dance artist Lesley Howard (they/them), A Home for Hamish invites children into a magical world of adventure. At its heart are May and their imaginary friend, Hamish the Haggis, who embark on an unforgettable journey across Scotland in search of the perfect nights sleep. Along the way, they must support and rely on one another as they escape dragons, dance with jellyfish and climb the tallest mountains - discovering that home is not just a place, but the journey you share with friends. Playfully merging dance, British Sign Language, and immersive sensory design, this 40-minute production creates an inclusive space where all children can see themselves, their languages, and their sensory needs represented and celebrated.

Live Music Sarah McQuaid

Live Music Sarah McQuaid

10 May 2026 - 10 May 2026

Born in Spain to a Spanish father and American mother, Sarah grew up in Chicago, touring the US and Canada as a member of The Chicago Childrens Choir. In the mid-1990s she made her way to Ireland, where her authorship of The Irish DADGAD Guitar Book led to invitations to write regular music columns and reviews for Hot Press magazine and Dublins Evening Herald. Following her move in 2007 (with her Irish husband and their two children) to Cornwall, she swiftly struck up a friendship with a fellow mum outside the gates of their childrens school. That fellow mum turned out to be Zo Pollock, writer and performer of 1991 UK Top 5 single Sunshine On A Rainy Day. The pair soon found themselves co-writing songs for an album released in 2008 under the band name Mama, lauded by MOJOs Colin Irwin as a pleasingly maverick mix and by The Irish Times as Janis Joplins freewheeling spirit crossed with Joni Mitchell's lyrical density. I owe Zo a massive debt of gratitude for getting me into songwriting in a serious way, says Sarah. Prior to that Id thought of myself basically as a folksinger who happened to write an occasional song, but through working with Zo I not only learned a hell of a lot about the craft of songwriting, but also just the fact of someone of her calibre wanting to co-write with me was what finally gave me the confidence to start focusing on my own original material. And of course, if it werent for Zo Id never have met Martin Martin Stansbury, a longtime collaborator and former bandmate of Zos who produced and engineered the Mama album, then became Sarahs manager and sound engineer, accompanying her on all her tours worldwide since 2009. Sarah will be singing and promoting her live album, The St Buryan Sessions, recorded live in lockdown in the beautiful medieval church of St Buryan, just over a mile from Sarahs home.
Live Music Pictish Trail

Live Music Pictish Trail

4 Jul 2026 - 4 Jul 2026

Johnny is back at the Rockfield, this time with a FULL BAND to bring yet more wild island madness. Pictish Trail, AKA Johnny Lynch, has just completed work on a brand-new album LIFE SLIME a sticky, shimmering swirl of sound and oooze (both metaphorical and literal). To celebrate, he returns to the stage in 2026 accompanied by his full live band. These shows bring the new songs to life in bold, expansive form rhythmic, euphoric and immersive, balancing motorik pulse with warped pop melody and raw emotional release. Expect tenderness, weirdness, and a generous dollop of goo. Based on the Isle of Eigg in the Scottish Hebrides, Pictish Trail is known for his wildly inventive electro-acoustic psych-pop. His 2022 album Island Family, his third for Londons Fire Records, drew acclaim from The Observer, The Times, Mojo, Uncut, Loud & Quiet, and BBC 6 Music. It was followed in autumn 2024 by Follow Footsteps an EP of reworked Island Family tracks released via his own Lost Map Records, in conjunction with Fire. Recasting the euphoric-bucolic psychedelia of Island Family, Melody Something and Nuclear Sunflower Swamp through a softer filter and complemented by a pair of incidental instrumentals Lynch discovered delicately kaleidoscopic new resonance in the material. Pictish Trails earlier albums Secret Soundz Vols. 1 & 2 (2008/2013) were gloriously eclectic slices of lo-fi folk-pop, later reissued on deluxe double-vinyl by Moshi Moshi in 2014. His third album Future Echoes (2016) received widespread acclaim and was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY Award), winning the public vote, before being reissued by Fire in 2018. His fourth album, Thumb World, was released by Fire in 2020. Pictish Trail has toured the world as both headliner and support for the likes of Belle & Sebastian, Pavement, Mogwai, Sea Power, and KT Tunstall. Hes performed at major festivals including Glastonbury (Park Stage), Field Day, Camp Bestival, Deer Shed, Celtic Connections, Blue Dot, the Edinburgh Fringe, and every single edition of Green Man Festival (22 and counting). Outside his own music, Johnny is a key figure in the UKs independent music scene. Through LostMapRecords, he has championed a diverse and idiosyncratic roster helping to elevate artists such as RoziPlain, AlabasterdePlume, SeamusFogarty, BasJan, CallumEaster, and FreeLove.

Live Music Horse

Live Music Horse

4 Sept 2026 - 4 Sept 2026

HORSE McDonald returns to one of her favourite places in the world! HORSE is an iconic and utterly unique singer/songwriter, her voice described as 'a finely honed instrument', together with 'breathtaking stagecraft'. Her music is both moving and uplifting, the audience are totally absorbed whenever she performs. With a successful career expanding over three decades, she has opened and toured with various international artists, including Tina Turner, BB King, Bryan Ferry, Burt Bacarach. One of her best known songs, Careful, was covered by Will Young. In a special Trio show created for The Rockfield Centre, there are songs and tales from her legendary career from over many years of performing, touring, and recording. This is a rare opportunity to hear stripped back versions from her back catalogue, and some songs that don't always make the full band shows. As she is now writing towards her new album (her 13th!) there will also be an opportunity to hear some new material. "A natural wonder with a voice as big as an ocean" - Attitude mag "Where McDonald really sets herself apart is her showmanship. She has a wonderful ability to engage her audience with a perfect mix of humour and emotive storytelling" - the wee review Poster image credit: Kris Kesiak
