Simon Evans: Have We Met?

Simon Evans: Have We Met?

5 Jun 2025 - 22 Mar 2026

Completing the Trilogy begun with Genius 2.0 and The Work of the Devil, Have We Met? finds Simon standing, like Ulysses in Tennyson’s famous verse, gazing out over the moaning deep and the twinkling rocks and wondering whether to seek a newer world? To smite the sounding furrows? To strive, to seek, and to find? Or whether in fact, to put the kettle on, crack open the Hobnobs and simply yield? Drawing on Joyce, Proust and the career of Philip Schofield to make sense of his own tangled past and possible future, Evans skilfully weaves comedy, pathos and narrowly averted cancellation into an unforgettable two hours of unique entertainment.

La Traviata

La Traviata

28 Jun 2025 - 28 Jun 2025

By Giuseppe Verdi Created by Bath Opera Following spectacular success with Don Giovanni , Marriage of Figaro , Tosca and Barber of Seville , Bath Opera brings its award-winning small scale touring opera back to the Rondo Theatre with a highly innovative production of La Traviata , Verdis much-loved and probably saddest opera. Director John Clark says, I wanted to find a present-day setting that was plausible. The challenges were to find a setting where aristocratic family honour made it probable that a father would go to any lengths to stop his son marrying the woman he loves outside of the royal circle: and where the beloved was trapped in a hedonistic lifestyle from which the marriage was the only escape. We are therefore setting the opera in a grand casino in the middle east. The productions has an international cast headed by Cecilia Zhang from China, and John Haque from Sweden as the ill-starred lovers. See the full cast on www.bathopera.com. Sit back and enjoy the familiar music and bring plenty of tissues! Please note that there is a theatre restoration levy of 1.50 per ticket. This levy applies to all transactions, whether made in person at our Box Office, by post or by phone, for all payment types. The Rondo opens half an hour before the start of each show. The Taming of the Shrew

The Taming of the Shrew

18 Jun 2025 - 21 Jun 2025

Lucentio wants Bianca. Hortensio wants Bianca. Gremio wants Bianca. None of them can have her until Biancas brother Katherine - is married. But Katherine is not easily tamed, with his sharp tongue and violent outbursts. Is anyone up for the challenge? Enter the charmingly terrifying Petruchio, a woman who has never met a boundary she will not cross to tame a shrew. The Taming of the Shrew takes on a daring new life in this gender queered production, where comedy and discomfort intersect. In a world where Petruchio is a boisterous woman and Kate is a shrewish man, this bold reimagining explores the power dynamics at the heart of Shakespeares comedy while unpacking how language shapes our understanding of gender and control. The Rondo Theatre Company has flipped the script, and we invite you to laugh and reflect on the complexities of gender by re-examining the ways comedy can reveal uncomfortable truths about societal power dynamics. Please note that there is a theatre restoration levy of 1.50 per ticket. This levy applies to all transactions, whether made in person at our Box Office, by post or by phone, for all payment types. The Rondo opens half an hour before the start of each show. Please ensure that you arrive before the advertised start time, as it may not be possible to admit late-comers.

By Scott Brown & Anthony King Presented by Spare Room Theatre Bud and Doug have a dream. Their dream is to share the inspirational life of Johannes Gutenberg - through the medium of a full scale, cast of thirty, Broadway Musical. The trouble is, at tonights rehearsed reading for a room of Broadway Producers, theres just Bud, Doug, and a mountain of hats. Spare Room Theatre was founded in 2014 by three friends, who took it upon themselves to show off a bit around the South West. The team have won some awards and had some really very nice feedback about the stuff they do mostly from their mums. Join us for a very silly night of meta- theatricality, expect some disastrous harmonies, a whirlwind of historical inaccuracies, and enough fourth-wall breaks to build a new stage. Witness the birth of Gutenberg! The Musical! (or at least, a hilariously flawed version of it).

Michelle is here to share all the fu@k ups, so you don't have to.

Marcus Brigstocke: Vitruvian Mango

Marcus Brigstocke: Vitruvian Mango

13 Sept 2025 - 13 Sept 2025

What are men for? Most heavy things can be lifted by machines and most problems can be solved by computers and most puddles can be crossed without us gallantly draping our capes over them - so are we fellas of any use at all? Award winning MAN Marcus Brigstocke thinks we might still serve some useful function. But what is it? This new tour show will resolve the entire issue once and for all (in a non-patriarchal, open minded, progressive sort of way). DaVincis Vitruvian Man is the image of the ideal male form. Marcus Vitruvian Mango is the same, but sweeter, softer, seasonally available and, when ripe, delicately perfumed. Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak

5 Jul 2025 - 12 Nov 2025

Blending storytelling and stand-up, past and present collide in this tale of hijinks and resistance. Directed by Mark Thomas, this celebrates ordinary people still shaping history. Award-winning theatre maker and “Fringe legend” (Time Out), Victoria Melody joined a historical re-enactment society… because we all deal with divorce differently! Spending weekends as a Musketeer trying to get her head straight, she uncovered the story of a bunch of 17th-century radicals called The Diggers—and everything changed. What started as a personal search for happiness turned into a quest to find the Diggers of today. She didn’t expect to find them far from the battlefield, right on her doorstep. Blending storytelling and stand-up, past and present collide in this tale of high jinks and resistance. Directed by Mark Thomas, this celebrates the ordinary people still shaping history.
