One Step Behind

One Step Behind

25 Oct 2025 - 29 Nov 2025

One Step Behind is the UK's Premier and longest surviving MADNESS tribute band. Formed in spring 1993, the band achieved widespread recognition in an unusually short time, playing venues the length and breadth of Britain including the Marquee Club in London & the Venue in New Cross. Jaunts into Europe and beyond are also common place. Members of Madness have joined the One Step boys on stage on a number of occasions. Sax player Lee Thompson has played a few times commenting the band were “Tight as a ducks arse” and “Brilliant”. Lee is also quoted as saying that OSB were “single handily keeping the good ship Madness afloat”. Drummer Dan “Woody” Woodgate joined the band on stage for “One Step Beyond” and told the boys he thought they were amazing. "That's exactly what we used to be like - you've got it to a tee!" he said. Fine praise indeed! And he could not believe the keyboard playing used no overdubs and was all being played live! Perhaps the greatest tribute came from Suggs himself. At a gig at G-MEX in Manchester walked up to the microphone and said "By the way, we're MADNESS not One Step Behind!!” The subsequent review in the Melody Maker bared the headline “One Step Behind”. Fine praise indeed! One Step Behind has also appeared on television a number of times. Singer Ian Soulsby made an appearance on "Stars In Their Eyes" in the 1990s while the whole band appeared on children's Saturday morning show SMTV (with Ant & Dec!) in 1998 performing their version of "Driving In My Car". OSB also featured on the "Tribute Band Night" programme, filmed in Rotterdam and broadcast on Dutch TV in 2004 (see video clip). OSB's most recent TV appearance was at the 2006 Proms party in Hyde Park, London. The band performed to around 50,000 people and a television audience in the millions! (see video clip's). Each member of One Step Behind grew up as a Madness fan and perfecting his portrayal of his original Madness counterpart has been a labour of love. They strive to match every detail of the original, both musically and in appearance. Like Madness, One Step Behind is well known for their on-stage antics with which they build up an authentic 'Nutty' atmosphere. This is One Step Behind's philosophy - to carry forward the mad mantle into the 21st Century and beyond.
The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican

The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican

26 Sept 2025 - 30 Jan 2026

Founded in Barnsley Rock City in 2006,The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican are on a mission! Far from being your typical folk ensemble, this cult-like collective of like-minded knit-wear enthusiasts are determined to follow in their spiritual fathers immortal footsteps and keep his legacy alive. Scott Doonican and his brothers-from-other-mothers, Dave Doonican, Dr. Mo-Jo Doonican and Reight Reverend Jeremiah Rickenbacker Doonican III, have quite the talent for Bar-Stewardizing other famous peoples songs with new satirical comedy lyrics, on folk instruments, and to complete their outrageously understated image, the Doonicans have become instantly recognisable for their immaculate hair and their stylish choice of sexy knitwear, and instantly memorable for their lairy, no-holds-barred, anarchic live shows. A group that is both perpetually on the move, ever-evolving and joyously independent, they have played close to 1350 side- splitting shows to date, and have brought smiles and belly- laughs to audiences across the UK; from Barnsley to Barnstaple, from Glastonbury to Glasgow. They continue to wow audiences with a fine selection of their greatest hits, including the likes of Jump Ararnd, The Lady In Greggs, "How Deep Is Your Glove?", "Paint 'em Back", "Goat Yoga", and If I Could Punch A Face... Itd Be Justin Biebers. After countless sellouts at the Lantern over the last 17 years, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican cant wait to bring their circus back to Scott Doonican's self-proclaimed "favourite venue on the planet" and they promise that they WILL rock you... but gently!
Hunny Buzz

Hunny Buzz

6 Dec 2025 - 6 Dec 2025

Hunny Buzz perfectly captures human nature's duality in an indie-pop melancholy and bubbly style. Lead vocalist Lyd Read undresses the struggles of modern love, within her personal and relatable lyricism and the band's pastel guitar theme and colourful sound is refreshing and pure. Hunny Buzzs BBC Radio 1 debut single Love Me Like You Used To is about the natural bumps in the road that occur between two people in love. As a relationship grows, there is more to learn about one another and differences that go without notice in the honeymoon phase become more apparent. This is a story which enlightens the hiccups of a modern love story. Lyds american-twangy vocal style accompanies a powerful lead guitar taking inspiration from indie-pop, alt-rock and folk genres. The track boasts influences such as The Pretenders, Taylor Swift and Paramore. Singer/songwriter Lydia Read has been writing and performing songs for as long as she can remember. In 2020 she moved to Bristol to immerse herself in the city's creative music industry. She met melodic guitarist Rowan Barfoot and energetic drummer Billy Pedrick during this time. Several months later, they met songwriter, producer, and bassist Ewan Base, who completed their four-piece. The past two years have been packed with writing, performing, and recording, L leading to their debut BBC Radio 1 single Love Me Like You Used To, presented by Gemma Bradley.
