His wide vocal range makes him able to sing a variety of genres, from blues to folk to electric and most styles in between. He performs his own original compositions as well as arrangements of other people's songs (from 1930's to modern, both obscure and classic), but his roots are really in folk (mainly Irish, British and American). His guitars are important to him, and he mainly uses Martin 6 & 12 string dreadnought acoustics, plus a road worn chrome-plated steel national slide guitar. He also plays harmonica (using a different harp for every key, complete with vintage Green Bullet mic and Fender Junior tube amp), plus banjo, ukulele, mandolin and a little piano. He enjoys studio work but is most at home performing live, with a band or solo, playing anywhere from the street to café's, pubs and big concert venues. He has numerous musical influences. Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Ed Sheeran and Muddy Waters are certainly close to the top of the list. https://www.facebook.com/dannybolandmusic/ The Spice of Life is an over 18's venue .ID will be required if you are asked. http://www.spiceoflifesoho.com/ http://substancegigs.com/index.php https://en-gb.facebook.com/substance.gigs

Tickets £6 (plus online booking fee) or on the door if available. Headlined by CAPE ORANGE. Cape Orange is the electrifying melting pot of the three members' wildly differing musical tastes. It's a little bit rocky, a little bit country and a whole lot of POP. The Cape Orange girls pride themselves in having as much fun as possible in their music, on stage and in recording, and their tracks mirror their tongue and cheek playfulness in their approach to the industry. Recently named one of the most fun live bands in London, The girls play tastemaker venues such as Brixton's The Windmill, carrying crowds away with confessional lyrical charm and moments of intense vulnerability. Formed by East London duo Emma Scarr & Johnny Black, whose differing writing styles and influences have collided to produce a rather lovely marriage of dreamy realism. BlackScarr perform an honest, gritty, urban folk style with narrative driven tunes that are classic but yet utterly modern in their everyday relevance. For this Session they will be accompanied by Steve Bottcher (electric guitar/dobro/mandolin), Brad Wray (electric bass) and Pete Abernethy (snare/percussion). Prepare to tap your toes to upbeat melodic tunes and be touched by hard-hitting, yet poetic lyrics that will stay with you. Throughout his musical journey Robert has also participated in a whole host of collaborations with the likes of BJ Cole, Band Of Holy Joy, Alabama 3 etc.. and now we see him branching out yet again with the release of his debut solo single 'Punch Drunk. He describes himself as a modern-day balladeer with an eye firmly focused on the world around him, utilising a narrative style which is more akin to old country songwriting, but yet set in his own backyard of South London. Like his work with Morton Valence Robert Hacker Jessett has created a unique style with a voice which is very much his own. Come and see the Man doing what he does. https://www.facebook.com/rjessett
