Iona Lane: live at the Tree House Bookshop
Swilkie, the new album from Highlands-based songwriter Iona Lane, weaves ecology, conservation, islands and folklore into poetic songs and contemplative melodies. Written during three residencies on the Isle of Eigg, Isle of Mull and Sanday in Orkney, sense of place and landscape are at the core of these songs. From basking sharks to lighthouses, lichen to vanishing islands, curlews to tree planting. Ionas debut album Hallival charted at #36 in the Official Folk Album Charts and was named by Folk Radio UK as #27 in their Top Albums of 2022. The album received widespread press including in The Guardian, Walk Highlands, BBC Radio 2 and The Scotsman to name a few. Alex Hart: live at the Tree House Bookshop
Described by BBC Radio 2 presenter Mark Radcliffe as "the Stevie Nicks of Folk". The south-west based singer-songwriter Alex Hart has just released 'Visions', her most exciting and anticipated album to date. At 18 Alex was noticed by producer Neil Stainton who honed her talent, worked with her during her early career and co-wrote and recorded her debut album 'On This Day'. Alex also worked closely with musician and songwriter Barney Dine from Torbay with whom she co-wrote many songs from this album, songs afterwards and gigged extensively. During this time, she was able to grow as a musician and perfect her craft. Following the success of Alex's debut album, her voice and musicianship caught the eye of legendary Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre, who asked Alex to be a part of his band as a musician and vocalist for their European and international tour dates. Alex has performed and toured all over the UK/Europe with the band and has embarked on many international US tours. Alex also collaborates and performs alongside the critically acclaimed Devon born folk singer Seth Lakeman. Alex's voice, as well her multi-instrumental playing, features heavily on his brand-new album. The single 'Higher We Aspire' received huge BBC Radio 2 support, and Alex performed the song live on BBC Breakfast TV. Alex tours extensively with Seth as a duo, trio and part of the band. Keep a lookout for gigs across the UK. Alex Hart is not only a talented vocalist, but an accomplished musician too. 2025 is set to be her most successful and exciting year yet. 17 Oct 2025 - 17 Oct 2025

Daria Kulesh has been described by Mike Harding as one of the finest voices and one of the most intriguing and interesting songwriters on the present folk scene. Her debut release Eternal Child was described as phenomenal, her second album Long Lost Home has enjoyed rave reviews and multiple awards, including LCM Album of the Year, her third offering Earthly Delights was named "one of the year's finest albums" by Folk Radio UK, and her latest studio release MotherLand is near perfect" and "astonishing", according to Liverpool Sound and Vision. Daria has toured extensively in the UK and Europe, sharing stories and songs that are deeply personal but feel universal and timeless. Every performance is an "emotional, compelling and uplifting experience", leaving the audiences "completely spellbound". Born in Russia but based in the UK for the last 15 years, she fearlessly explores her heritage and turbulent family history in Ingushetia (North Caucasus) with songs that "aren't just sung, but lived" (FATEA). With a unique heritage in the North Caucasus and a moving story to tell, Daria accompanies herself on guitar (with a fondness for DADGAD), bouzouki, shruti box and bodhran, but the focus is on the singing and the storytelling. "Refreshingly different, powerful songwriting" FolkWorld "Intensely personal and immensely resonant... incredibly moving" TwickFolk "Haunting and enigmatic" The Sunday Times Feedback from recent solo performances: "We found the experience unforgettable: insights into a hitherto unknown people and their culture, overcome by the cruelty of mega state power, told through the lives of the past and present. Truly folk music at its best. - "Remarkable woman/voice/stories" - "One of our best nights yet" The Lightship, Blyth - organisers and audience "Such a wonderful evening! We so enjoyed the stories of your family history, it was a real education for us and your evocative songs brought another dimension to them." - "Delightfully different" - "Amazing" - "Fascinating" - "Wonderful stories and lovely music" Forest Folk Club - organisers and audience "An excellent evening and an epic journey told in stories and song.
