21 Nov 2026 - 21 Nov 2026

Short Waves Presents: Candide, the progressive punk trio, erupts as a kind of theatrical fever dream: a shambolic yet exacting northern soul dancer, the mighty boosh of rock. Their debut ‘Rage Ballet’ encapsulates this ethos: garage-guitar collide with Baroque-esque melodrama; these are the melodies of a boy band exploding at Chernobyl; a sneering punk tantrum dissolving into a strange, tender daydream. In short, Candide is one of London’s most theatrical and original new bands, fusing a rich visual and sonic world with electric stagecraft, making them the perfect act to cut through and wake up the room (or field). Lava Bow / Big Trousers

6 Jun 2026 - 6 Jun 2026

Lava bow "Lava Bow is an alternative band formed in Asnières-sur-Seine (a small town on the outskirts of Paris), on the border between sonic chaos and visceral intimacy. Composed of Côme (guitar/vocals), Sam (cello/vocals) and Alexis (drums), the band breaks the codes of traditional rock with a daring formula: no bass, but an amplified and mistreated cello, which holds both the groove and the lyrical flights of fancy. In short, Lava Bow is a radical and free live act, bucking the trend for polished formats. Their motto: ‘All is about tha pink poney’." Big trousers "Postmodern power-duo BIG TROUSERS bring a unique brand of volume, energy and eccentricity to UK and international stages. The band draw from progressive rock and post-punk to construct their spoken-word, experimental sound. Sharing stages like the Windmill Brixton with bands such as Man/Woman/Chainsaw and Heavy Lungs since their formation in 2023, the two-piece continue to push their sound with unapologetic oddity, navigating meme culture, social satire and existential dread. With their sophomore EP, "WHAT WE TALK ABOUT WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THE INTERNET", the duo offer a surreal window into online relationships. It features the band's signature absurdist lyrics and acrobatic guitar playing, and scrambles its way through a stacked lineup of zany narrators and even zanier riffs. From a meditation on failed stardom to a protagonist in love with Microsoft PowerPoint to a doomscrolling monologue set to a midwest emo instrumental, these 5 tracks will have you wondering just how funny the internet actually is." Fusing post-punk aggression, grunge, ethereal shoegaze with bold experimental flourishes, the band explores themes of mental stability, disassociation, and self-identity in young adulthood. Tripwire is a raw and emotionally charged collection that captures the chaos of intrusive thoughts and the quiet weight of imposter syndrome, all set against a dynamically enraged sonic backdrop. + Wellbehaved \+ Video Shop Video Shop evolved gradually over a few years, a group of like minded, alt-rock/indie loving people busting out some riffs. Womanman + Crawford Mack

16 Apr 2026 - 16 Apr 2026

Short Waves Presents: WOMANMAN is the cathartic arrival of a new art-rock project by singer-songwriter Lea G. Their new debut EP BIRTH engages directly with feminism, queerness, bodily autonomy, loss, grief, and transformation. Sonically, it sits somewhere between the emotional scale of Florence + the Machine, the experimentation of Radiohead, and the raw intensity of PJ Harvey, while ultimately carving out a sound of its own. The six-track EP was recorded live over three days with an eight-piece band at RAK Studios, London, engineered and co-produced by Grammy-nominated Isabel Gracefield. Recorded completely live, with no overdubs or double tracking, each track unfolded organically in the room. The material was written in isolation by Lea and later workshopped with the band, with the focus placed on expressing the emotional reality of each song. All performances were captured live with minimal separation, giving the record a sense of momentum and unique character. \+ Crawford Mack Presented by Short Waves. This is an 18+ event

Frenzee

Frenzee

12 May 2026 - 12 May 2026

DHP Presents : Frenzee Apollonia, Nikos and Adonis, schooled and skilled in the ways of the old, these siblings share a kinetic bond that is erupting in real time and their band is called Frenzee. They are Occam’s Razor, hair trigger tight, pulverizingly mean and lean. Born in Melbourne, raised and based on Crete, Frenzee embody the antipodean riffing of AC/DC, The Hard Ons and The Angels but with a heavy dose of their childhood loves Bikini Kill, Motorhead, The Prodigy and Rage Against The Machine. Frenzee aren’t the sum of some list of influences however. They don’t sound like anyone on earth. No other band has the ties to a discipline and skillset like these siblings and yet it does not stifle the dynamic intensity of the band. It just makes Frenzee insanely consistent. Relentless even. After an endless three month tour of Australia earlier this year, Frenzee moved into the Oz subconscious rent free. Straight after that, they jumped on tour supporting 1000MODS across Europe for a month, creating an eruption of energy at every packed venue they played. October, Melbourne label Poison City Records and Greek label Ouga Booga released their debut long player What’s Wrong With Me. From raging opener 100 Degrees to the harmonic death of What's Wrong With Me, the collective synapses of the siblings are firing, bonded by blood. The weight is immense. Apollonia paces in the sonic cell between the wall of Adonis’ guitar and the battery of Nikos rhythmical onslaught. It’s synchronicity and devoid of artifice. Just big raw power. No, not power. Something more honed and refined and terrifying. Pressure. So much pressure. The maximum pressure any one person can put on a string, a snare, a room, a community or a system. Get ready for a very special queer night this Bank Holiday Sunday. Short Waves presents a one-off live + club edition, with performances from Vanity Fairy and Jamie She, followed by a late-night takeover from the spectacular DJs Bliss Out. Expect glitter, drama, synths, sweat, and a dancefloor full of beautiful people. Vanity fairy She’s recently opened for The Last Dinner Party at their biggest headline show to date, has been championed by BBC 6, DIY, CLASH, NME, Apple Music and CHANEL: you may not know her name yet, but Vanity Fairy seems destined to transcend her underground cult status. Between her shimmering vocal falsetto (which has been compared to everyone from Barry Gibb to Kate Bush) and onstage theatrics, the iconic disco darling is earning a reputation as one of the most mesmerising live performers around. Following support slots for The Last Dinner Party, Getdown Services, Warmduscher, Katy J Pearson, Lime Garden, and more, Fairy dropped her latest EP ‘Queen of Queens’ November 2025. The EP spins a nostalgia-laden world that plays with kitsch-pop tropes and revels in the hedonistic indulgences of classic disco. But there’s also something strange at work here. Far from content to ape her be-dazzled Studio 54 idols, Fairy adds something new to the mix. It’s a bittersweet, playful, wistful sensibility that works itself out in a sound that both reveres and toys with the music she loves with all her heart. Though she sparkles on record, Vanity Fairy is undeniably best experienced live. ‘A spectacle in the truest sense of the word, her show spans high camp theatrics, 80’s indebted synth-pop and sultry disco bangers... unavoidably infectious and utterly joy inducing’ - DIY. Jamie she (pop / rock / glam / glum) After the bands, the night continues with Bliss Out DJs spinning house, disco, world music and more until late. Special gig + club tickets available for just £10 - stay for the party, it’s a Bank Holiday after all. Presented by Short Waves This is an 18+ event

Dirt Flirt’s alt-pop sound has a vulnerable edge, often exploring themes of identity and queerness through catchy hooks and vulnerable, playful lyricism, drawing comparisons to artists like MUNA, The Japanese House and 070 Shake. Following the release of her debut self-titled EP in summer 2025, Dirt Flirt has been carving a space for herself across London’s music scene, charming audiences with her unmistakable stage presence, and growing a devoted online community of misfit pop fans. To celebrate the upcoming release of her upcoming EP 'scorpio fever', come witness the UK's next masc pop star put on an unforgettable show, and who knows...by the end of the night, you too may catch scorpio fever. Have Mercy

Have Mercy

3 Jul 2026 - 3 Jul 2026

Blending the raw emotion of early emo with the weight and clarity of modern rock, Have Mercy has established a sound that is distinctly their own. Across six studio albums, the band has demonstrated both artistic growth and unwavering dedication to their craft. Their journey has been marked by both triumph and adversity. A period of instability saw the lineup shift, but through sobriety, personal growth, and renewed purpose, the core members-Brian Swindle, Nick Woolford, Andrew Johnson, and Steve Wootteon-reunited in Baltimore, Maryland, revitalising the band with a renewed sense of direction. Their latest album, “the loneliest place i’ve ever been” (Rude Records), is a powerful and introspective release. Balancing dark, emotionally driven lyricism with infectious hooks, the record reflects a pivotal chapter in Swindle’s journey toward sobriety. “It’s the record we always wanted to make-dark yet hopeful, polished yet imperfect.” With a renewed lineup and creative energy, Have Mercy has returned to the global stage, continuing to solidify their reputation as a compelling and unmissable live act. Don’t miss them in London this July. Presented by Pink Mist. This is an 18+ event

Acidfest London Mini Psych Fest

Acidfest London Mini Psych Fest

29 Aug 2026 - 29 Aug 2026

ACIDFEST started as a 3-day festival in Iceland back in 2022. It's a travelling psych fest curated by psychedelic visionaries Thee Lucifer Sams from Liverpool, who took this concept around the UK and occasionally the world (besides Iceland, it also had an instalment in Austin, Texas during SXSW 2023). ACIDFEST LONDON brings an exciting lineup to The Victoria Dalston. Thee Lucifer Sams are true visionaries, refusing to put their music on platforms such as Spotify or having social media. Their mix of semi-improvised psychedelic noise draws equally from the abstraction of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, Lemmy's Hawkwind and Sonic Youth noise - with no songs just a full-on psychedelic, sonic rollercoaster. The Dead Zoo are a proudly trans led, corn fed noisy post-punk band from London, who always put on an energetic live set, and are always worth watching. Madonovan is the best shoegaze artist you've never heard before, and an unique concept - a tribute to itself, covering songs written, but never released, over 30 years ago. A cathartic ode to lost youth, dreams and rock'n'roll itself. Esa Shields is a truly one-of-a-kind artist, creating melodies and sounds the likes of which never heard before or since. It's like Brian Wilson on Mars, tripping on acid. EMU is a vey unique, globe-trotting, funky dance dubhop groove-monster party-starters with a punk twist. More often found in Goa or the antipodes than the UK, it's a privilege to witness them live. ACIDFEST will also feature a killer DJ set by Brighton's finest, Echoes of the City. Acidfest is more than just a "gig", but a true happening. This is what the Liverpool Psychedelic Society always offers at our events: an unique experience, something that the mainstream is unable to offer, truly grassroots and open to all. This is not about any "scene", we just create our own culture and everyone is welcome to enjoy... so come and join the society! WE HAVE TO CREATE CULTURE, DONT WATCH TV, DONT READ MAGAZINES, DONT EVEN LISTEN TO NPR. CREATE YOUR OWN ROADSHOW. TERENCE MCKENNA CREATE YOUR OWN CULTURE
