Transmission: The Sound of Joy Division
Devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig, Transmission emulate the sound of one of the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era. Joy Division were formed in the late 1970s and dissolved in 1980 after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. The remaining members went on to form New Order and have achieved much critical and commercial success. The influence of Joy Division, however, was far reaching. They were considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Forty three years on you can relive the dark, cavernous sound of Joy Division through Transmission - the UK's number one Joy Division tribute act.

Over the past three decades or so, Jah Wobble has ploughed his own furrow as a prolific solo artist, as well as becoming a well-respected session musician, with genuine passion for Eastern and Global music. He has worked with a diverse range of musicians, including Baaba Maal, Bjork, Primal Scream, Brian Eno, Sinead O'Connor, Julianne Regan, Delores O'Riordan, Holgat Czukay, The Edge and Chaka Demus & Pliers. The man born John Wardle began his musical journey when he met John Lydon and Sid Vicious at Kingsway College, London in 1973. It was Vicious who not only nicknamed John 'Jah Wobble' after a drunken binge but also loaned him his first bass guitar. Lydon asked JW to join Public Image Limited (aka PiL) in spring 1978. Wardle's distinctive 'low end' bass became the backbone of PiL's pioneering sound. After its follow-up, the exploratory yet sinister soundscapes of Metal Box, Wardle became disillusioned by politics within the band and their reluctance to play live. He eventually split from PiL in mid-1980 and embarked on a prolific solo career. Wobble is joined on stage by drummer Marc Layton-Bennett and Martin Chung.

John Bramwell

John Bramwell

8 May 2025 - 30 Nov 2025

John Harold Arnold Bramwell, to give him his full name, is perhaps best-known for his time as the songwriter and frontman of Manchester three-piece, I Am Kloot. However, he also possesses an enviable back catalogue as a solo artist and continues to work on new material under the guise of his latest band, John Bramwell & The Full Harmonic Convergence. Bramwell’s first studio output appeared in 1989, when he was performing and recording as Johnny Dangerously and entitled You Me & The Alarm Clock, an album The Guardian referred to as one of the ‘greatest albums you’ve never heard.’ Following a stint as a television presenter and as a member of the band, The Mouth, Bramwell formed I Am Kloot, with two members of The Mouth. They went on to record six studio albums, including the Mercury-Prize nominated album, Sky At Night. Since 2016, Bramwell has reverted to being a solo artist and tours continuously, around the UK and Europe. A home-recorded solo album, Leave Alone the Empty Spaces appeared in 2018 and the follow-up, a more expansive affair, with a working title of The Light Fantastic, is now scheduled for release in 2022.

As Paul says ‘Los Pacaminos started out just for fun, playing simply for the pleasure of it. It all took off from there. It’s real bar-room stuff - foot stompers, not too many slow songs - a real party atmosphere.’ A typical Pacaminos set might include Wooly Bully, La Bamba and sometimes, if enough tequila is flowing, Speedy Gonzales. Up for the party? Put your blues on cruise and come and join the fun!
Laurence Jones

Laurence Jones

23 May 2025 - 7 Jun 2025

Although Laurence doesn’t need too much of an introduction in the music business, for those that haven’t had the chance to see him yet, it’s well worth sharing a thing or two about this artist! He sings, he plays and he writes -- a triple craft -- and he does so like a veteran twice his age, but absolutely no ego and with both feet firmly on the ground! Hailed as 'one to watch' as a teenager by the blues media, concert/festival bookers, blues fans and various guitar stars alike, young Laurence really has come of age. The blues cub has become a man with a plan, turning heads and making jaws drop with his take-no-prisoners, incendiary live set and stunning records. Laurence and his crack band -- Jones on vocals and guitars, Roger Inniss on bass and Phil Wilson on drums -- put the power into power trio, with their modern day blues rock with an edge.
The Blow Monkeys

The Blow Monkeys

11 Oct 2025 - 24 Oct 2025

With hits like ‘Digging Your Scene’ and ‘It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way’, The Blow Monkeys epitomised the glamour of mid-80s pop at its most graceful and sophisticated. In the band’s frontman Robert Howard (aka Dr. Robert), they possessed a tall, charismatic singer who was both camera-friendly and clever, who appeared to be just as much at ease on the catwalk that is pop’s conveyor belt as he was penning witty, incisive songs. While quite clearly Robert’s band, though, the Blow Monkeys were also gifted three immensely talented musicians in bassist Mick Anker (he of the trademark bowler hat), saxophonist Neville Henry and drummer Tony Kiley. Behind the band’s stylish veneer lay something else, which became increasingly apparent from Robert’s lyrics. While some of the Smash Hits generation avoided politics with a capital P, The Blow Monkeys openly criticised the policies of the Conservative government, railing against social injustices and adopting an openly left-of-centre stance on issues of the day. From openly endorsing the gay community “Digging Your Scene” to an outright attack on Margaret Thatcher ‘Celebrate (The Day After You)’ – a duet with the late, great Curtis Mayfield, The Blow Monkeys were always the thinking person’s pop group. As the 1980s progressed, so too did the band’s musical style, from a sound once dubbed “jazz punk” by Robert to a more soulful, jazzy style and an ever-increasing adoption of dance music. The Blow Monkeys of their rare, indie debut single ‘Live Today Love Tomorrow’ (recorded on a shoestring in 1981) would be barely recognisable to those who bought the Balearic remix of ‘La Passionara’ from 1990. And yet a soulful, spiritually uplifting strain has continued to run through their music – and, indeed, that of Robert’s solo recordings – to this day.

Sound of The Sirens

Sound of The Sirens

23 May 2025 - 5 Dec 2025

Exeter-based duo Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood dovetail beautifully on their debut album, For All Our Sins, a beguiling acoustic pop collection replete with lyrical sensibility on tracks like the first single, Smokescreen (“Living beyond the darkness others create for us, and growing into something positive”), The Circus (“When everyone wants something from you, who can you trust?”) and Mr Wilson (“The chemistry of a new relationship, unsure of where it is going, but knowing that you want more from it”). Already championed by Chris Evans – who declared himself “blown away” when he heard Sound of the Sirens for the first time – they’re certain to broaden a burgeoning fan base on the back of For All Our Sins. It’s a fan base built up not just over several sublime EP self-releases – but also through their live shows, which combine a natural facility for connecting with their audiences and unforgettable performances predicated on energy, warmth, humour and, above all, real conviction.

Clara Mann

Clara Mann

30 Apr 2025 - 1 May 2025

Singer-songwriter Clara Mann’s evocative debut album Rift navigates the fractured environment of the in-between—those liminal spaces exposed between light and dark, growth and remorse, loss and reclamation. It is a record that makes a strong case for hope, those luminescent silver linings in the dark. Mann’s music reflects the people and places that have shaped and held her—physically, emotionally, and creatively. Raised in the Lot Valley in rural France before moving to the UK for her teens, these formative years provided her with a deep sense of belonging, identity, and growth. Yet, it is in motion, in placelessness, that Mann feels most at home: “Just the sun above me and my keys and my car.” Her new record is a testament to this state of in-betweenness, inviting you to step into a place that has always existed within yourself.

Tankus the Henge have built their reputation on unforgettable songwriting, spectacular live performances and relentless hard work, playing hundreds of shows across Europe and building a devoted fan base along the way. Their funk-fuelled repertoire is wildly eclectic, ranging from New Orleans inspired swing to heavy rock riffs, and since their beginnings in the ratty alleyways of London’s Soho, the band has evolved into a wild groove machine. Musically inspired by bands from the British invasion of the 60s and artists such as Tom Waits, Blur, Randy Newman and Queens Of The Stone Age, and with lyrics influenced by 20th Century American Literature, specifically the Beat Generation and Gonzo journalism, Tankus the Henge defy categorisation. Their hair-raising show, like no other, has to be seen and heard to be believed. Like a psychedelic, rock n roll octopus - only with four more legs.

Floral Image

22 May 2025 - 31 May 2025

Floral Image + Guests Floral Image are a psychedelic pop band from the third-eye of Norwich, UK. Formed in 2019, their sound is the reincarnation of the summer sun, spun into a perpetual party twilight. They harness the noise and drive of early 70’s psychedelic titans Hawkwind - with a bright helping of neo-psych acts such as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Tame Impala - whilst still incorporating an acid house groove underneath their bright and luscious melodies. The band’s early demos were championed on BBC Introducing by both Huw Stephens and Jamz Supernova, featuring on the 2020 ‘Ones To Watch Show’ alongside Dry Cleaning and Porridge Radio. Following the release of their first singles, they have sold out shows across the country, including supporting Triptides, Flamingods and Flying Moon In Space, where their live show has proven to spiral audiences into trancelike, grooving hedonism. Their debut EP ‘So Synthesised’ released in April 2023 whereby tracks ‘Babe & The Devil’ and ‘Gallipoli’ were supported by Under The Radar, BBC 6 Music’s Amy Lamé and Tom Robinson, John Kennedy on Radio X and Shell Zenner on Amazing Radio. David Ford

David Ford

9 Oct 2025 - 6 Nov 2025

These days, David Ford feels much more at home operating on the fringes of the music business, not trying to be famous, not trying to get rich. It might be an unconventional way to conduct a musical career, but this is not a conventional guy, as evidenced by his most recent album, Animal Spirits, a surprisingly accessible, even soulful collection of songs about economics. As an artist Ford still defies classification or comparison. Singer-songwriter doesn’t begin to cover it. He writes and performs with fluency across multiple genres, plays every instrument on the stage and even invents new ones to create truly unique recordings and performances. Every live show is different. Ford’s trademark one-man loop machine circus grows more complex and audacious every year, but then he is just as likely to show up with a six-piece band, a string quartet, jazz drummer or a choir and his most recent UK tour proved he can be equally compelling sat in an armchair, playing acoustic guitar and telling stories. The result is a live spectacle described by The Guardian as “unmissable”. As well as playing sold-out headline shows on both sides of the Atlantic, he has toured with and supported artists such as Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Ray LaMontagne, Aimee Mann, Sara Bareilles, Gomez, Aqualung, Richard Ashcroft, Suzanne Vega, Augustana, Ingrid Michaelson and Jakob Dylan.
Tangerinecat Uk Tour/ecka Mordecai/éntha
Cute Owl Promotions proudly presents: tAngerinecAt, Ecka Mordecai and éntha as part of the London leg of tAngerinecAt's UK Tour. An amazing night of highly individual music. Tangerinecat tAngerinecAt was formed in 2008 in Ukraine as a collaboration between Ukrainian born Eugene Purpurovsky and English born Paul Chilton. Their music absorbed the musical, poetic and social forms of Ukrainian and Soviet counterculture; the classical music skills, composition, directing and stage experience of Eugene as a singer, actor, poet and musician in solo and various musical projects - from classical to metal, since 1990, and his experience living in rough social and economic conditions and resisting authoritarian structures. Together they traveled to remote places in the Carpathian Mountains gleaning from the local music culture. Add to this witches brew influences from EDM, blues, metal, art-rock.., and their persistent use of unusual musical instruments most notably the hurdy-gurdy, - and you will get raw powerful cinematic and deeply atmospheric electronica with punk attitude that touches the inner most part of the human personality and is reminiscent of a tapestry with many different details. They have four independently released, successfully selling albums that have had airplay on BBC 2, BBC 3 and BBC 6. The band has toured internationally in Ukraine, UK and Russia from 2010 and since relocating to UK in 2016 have quickly gained momentum, intensively touring with headline shows in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, Lancaster, Hull and nearly everywhere in between resulting in them having a large number of fans all over the UK and organize their own nomadic festival of unusual music called Cute Owl. "Watch out for: tAngerinecAt... this is some of the most powerful music I have heard in a long time..." - LOUDER THAN WAR "I've never seen someone play a hurdy-gurdy so punk..." - DEVIL'S DYKE NETWORK tAngerinecAt brought not just synth to the table, but a whole range of physical, classical instruments into the mix most noticeably their use of the hurdy-gurdy, to make their music the deep notes of severe doom and dread that gave it the feeling of a rave in a mausoleum...- LEFTLION "Eugene is a fantastic singer, a ranter and belter with occasional glassware-shattering screams. As abrasive noise went, I liked them a whole lot..." - ROCKNERD http://www.tangerinecat.net Ecka Mordecai Ecka Mordecai is a 'cellist who composes and plays with ideas around gravity and the body. With a background in renaissance and improvised musics, performance and sound art, her live shows are dynamic; a merging of melody, song, and abstract form. She has worked and collaborated with: David Toop and Rie Nakajima, Andrew Chalk and Tom Scott, Thurston Moore, Sam Weaver, Kate Armitage, David Birchall. She has performed at the Hepworth Gallery, White Cube (Bermondsey), Islington Mill and Fort Process (Newhaven). She is the art director for Cuspeditions record label. éntha éntha swirls together glitch electronics, lush guitar melodies and infinite noise structures into single crystalline endlessly blooming soundscapes, stitched with deep self-reflection and eternal white light. Great abstraction meets futurism in the éntha's complex philosophy, which truly opens in the live performances, taking audience into never-ending journey through the oceans of thick electric shine and melodic drone... '...one-man shoegazer éntha delivers a wall of guitar noise akin to Kevin Shields or The Telescopes, backed with processed, industrial loops and pads. A tone poem for a near-future dystopia, with twinkling neon melodies struggling to be free from the bludgeoning noise.' - BagThing 'It makes sense that the first time I heard this music I was alone in a field in England, lights from a city illuminating the sky ahead.' - Zen Zsigo (Cremation Lily) https://soundcloud.com/enthamusic Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/993021217535711

Hannah White: 'Sweet Revolution' Album Launch
Hannah White, one of the UK's fastest-rising singer-songwriters, will release her highly-anticipated new album Sweet Revolution on November 3 via The Last Music Company. Having created an impressive songbook in recent years with her uniquely poignant compositions, the record is Hannah's first for the respected independent company, on which her new labelmates include Jimmie Vaughan, Geraint Watkins, Dan Penn and Andy Fairweather Low. The album will arrive on the heels of its atmospheric, driving first single 'Chains of Ours,' as White and her band continue a busy summer of festival performances including The Long Road in Leicestershire on August 25. She and husband and guitarist Keiron Marshall then embark on a prestigious itinerary as opening guests on revered British vocalist and writer Paul Carrack's UK tour. It's the exciting culmination of a memorable year for London-based White, who began 2023 by winning Best UK Song for 'Car Crash' at the Americana Music Association UK Awards. The searingly autobiographical song came from the About Time album, which won rave reviews across the UK and far beyond. Now comes Sweet Revolution, a bold new chapter in a singular story, in which White has confronted and overcome the formidable challenges that inform her lyrics and make her work so strikingly personal. The album is produced by Michele Stodart of UK folk-pop mainstays the Magic Numbers who, like pedal steel player Holly Carter and drummer Emma Holbrook, is a regular member of Hannah's live band. Sweet Revolution features 11 new compositions, all written solely by White, who sings all lead vocals and plays acoustic guitar and, on the song 'One Foot,' dulcimer, percussion and even didgeridoo. This is a 16+ event, U18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Based around the Scots phrase “We’re aw Jock Tamson’s bairns”, prepare to be both entertained and inspired! Find out more about Story Valley here - http://www.storyvalleyacademy.eu
