Transmission: The Sound of Joy Division

Transmission: The Sound of Joy Division

12 Sept 2025 - 10 Apr 2026

Devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig, Transmission emulate the sound of one of the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era. Joy Division were formed in the late 1970s and dissolved in 1980 after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. The remaining members went on to form New Order and have achieved much critical and commercial success. The influence of Joy Division, however, was far reaching. They were considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Forty three years on you can relive the dark, cavernous sound of Joy Division through Transmission - the UK's number one Joy Division tribute act.

John Bramwell

John Bramwell

12 Sept 2025 - 6 Dec 2025

John Harold Arnold Bramwell, to give him his full name, is perhaps best-known for his time as the songwriter and frontman of Manchester three-piece, I Am Kloot. However, he also possesses an enviable back catalogue as a solo artist and continues to work on new material under the guise of his latest band, John Bramwell & The Full Harmonic Convergence. Bramwell’s first studio output appeared in 1989, when he was performing and recording as Johnny Dangerously and entitled You Me & The Alarm Clock, an album The Guardian referred to as one of the ‘greatest albums you’ve never heard.’ Following a stint as a television presenter and as a member of the band, The Mouth, Bramwell formed I Am Kloot, with two members of The Mouth. They went on to record six studio albums, including the Mercury-Prize nominated album, Sky At Night. Since 2016, Bramwell has reverted to being a solo artist and tours continuously, around the UK and Europe. A home-recorded solo album, Leave Alone the Empty Spaces appeared in 2018 and the follow-up, a more expansive affair, with a working title of The Light Fantastic, is now scheduled for release in 2022.
Robert Vincent

Critically well received, the title track was play-listed by Radio 2. After meeting Whispering Bob Harris at an event called ‘Bluebird at the Bluecoat’ that brought the concept of the bluebird cafe in Nashville to The Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool, the legendary radio presenter invited Robert to perform a live session on his Radio 2 show and in 2016 awarded him with his ‘Emerging Artist’ of the year award at the inaugural UK Americana Awards show in Hackney London. In 2018 his Sophomore album ‘I’ll Make the Most of my Sins’ was named UK Americana Album of the Year. Meeting and performing with musical director Ethan Johns at the award ceremony would shape his future career. In February of 2018 Robert was invited to perform on the BBC ‘Old Grey Whistle Test, For One Night Only’ closing the show. It was this performance that would propel him to number 1 and 2 in the iTunes Album and Singles Charts. Robert's latest release ‘In this Town You’re Owned' charted at number 2 in the UK Americana Charts been critically praised both in the UK and Europe and USA. At the midway point of the year American Songwriter Magazine named ‘In this Town You’re Owned’ in its top 20 albums (every genre) of 2020 to date. ‘In This Town You’re Owned’ has also picked up Americana Music Association UK Album & Artist of The Year 2021, plus Americana UK Album & Artist of the Year 2020.

As Paul says ‘Los Pacaminos started out just for fun, playing simply for the pleasure of it. It all took off from there. It’s real bar-room stuff - foot stompers, not too many slow songs - a real party atmosphere.’ A typical Pacaminos set might include Wooly Bully, La Bamba and sometimes, if enough tequila is flowing, Speedy Gonzales. Up for the party? Put your blues on cruise and come and join the fun!
The Blow Monkeys

The Blow Monkeys

9 Oct 2025 - 24 Oct 2025

With hits like ‘Digging Your Scene’ and ‘It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way’, The Blow Monkeys epitomised the glamour of mid-80s pop at its most graceful and sophisticated. In the band’s frontman Robert Howard (aka Dr. Robert), they possessed a tall, charismatic singer who was both camera-friendly and clever, who appeared to be just as much at ease on the catwalk that is pop’s conveyor belt as he was penning witty, incisive songs. While quite clearly Robert’s band, though, the Blow Monkeys were also gifted three immensely talented musicians in bassist Mick Anker (he of the trademark bowler hat), saxophonist Neville Henry and drummer Tony Kiley. Behind the band’s stylish veneer lay something else, which became increasingly apparent from Robert’s lyrics. While some of the Smash Hits generation avoided politics with a capital P, The Blow Monkeys openly criticised the policies of the Conservative government, railing against social injustices and adopting an openly left-of-centre stance on issues of the day. From openly endorsing the gay community “Digging Your Scene” to an outright attack on Margaret Thatcher ‘Celebrate (The Day After You)’ – a duet with the late, great Curtis Mayfield, The Blow Monkeys were always the thinking person’s pop group. As the 1980s progressed, so too did the band’s musical style, from a sound once dubbed “jazz punk” by Robert to a more soulful, jazzy style and an ever-increasing adoption of dance music. The Blow Monkeys of their rare, indie debut single ‘Live Today Love Tomorrow’ (recorded on a shoestring in 1981) would be barely recognisable to those who bought the Balearic remix of ‘La Passionara’ from 1990. And yet a soulful, spiritually uplifting strain has continued to run through their music – and, indeed, that of Robert’s solo recordings – to this day.

Sound of The Sirens

Sound of The Sirens

24 Oct 2025 - 5 Dec 2025

Exeter-based duo Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood dovetail beautifully on their debut album, For All Our Sins, a beguiling acoustic pop collection replete with lyrical sensibility on tracks like the first single, Smokescreen (“Living beyond the darkness others create for us, and growing into something positive”), The Circus (“When everyone wants something from you, who can you trust?”) and Mr Wilson (“The chemistry of a new relationship, unsure of where it is going, but knowing that you want more from it”). Already championed by Chris Evans – who declared himself “blown away” when he heard Sound of the Sirens for the first time – they’re certain to broaden a burgeoning fan base on the back of For All Our Sins. It’s a fan base built up not just over several sublime EP self-releases – but also through their live shows, which combine a natural facility for connecting with their audiences and unforgettable performances predicated on energy, warmth, humour and, above all, real conviction.

David Ford

David Ford

9 Oct 2025 - 6 Nov 2025

These days, David Ford feels much more at home operating on the fringes of the music business, not trying to be famous, not trying to get rich. It might be an unconventional way to conduct a musical career, but this is not a conventional guy, as evidenced by his most recent album, Animal Spirits, a surprisingly accessible, even soulful collection of songs about economics. As an artist Ford still defies classification or comparison. Singer-songwriter doesn’t begin to cover it. He writes and performs with fluency across multiple genres, plays every instrument on the stage and even invents new ones to create truly unique recordings and performances. Every live show is different. Ford’s trademark one-man loop machine circus grows more complex and audacious every year, but then he is just as likely to show up with a six-piece band, a string quartet, jazz drummer or a choir and his most recent UK tour proved he can be equally compelling sat in an armchair, playing acoustic guitar and telling stories. The result is a live spectacle described by The Guardian as “unmissable”. As well as playing sold-out headline shows on both sides of the Atlantic, he has toured with and supported artists such as Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Ray LaMontagne, Aimee Mann, Sara Bareilles, Gomez, Aqualung, Richard Ashcroft, Suzanne Vega, Augustana, Ingrid Michaelson and Jakob Dylan.
Tangerinecat Uk Tour/ecka Mordecai/éntha
Cute Owl Promotions proudly presents: tAngerinecAt, Ecka Mordecai and éntha as part of the London leg of tAngerinecAt's UK Tour. An amazing night of highly individual music. Tangerinecat tAngerinecAt was formed in 2008 in Ukraine as a collaboration between Ukrainian born Eugene Purpurovsky and English born Paul Chilton. Their music absorbed the musical, poetic and social forms of Ukrainian and Soviet counterculture; the classical music skills, composition, directing and stage experience of Eugene as a singer, actor, poet and musician in solo and various musical projects - from classical to metal, since 1990, and his experience living in rough social and economic conditions and resisting authoritarian structures. Together they traveled to remote places in the Carpathian Mountains gleaning from the local music culture. Add to this witches brew influences from EDM, blues, metal, art-rock.., and their persistent use of unusual musical instruments most notably the hurdy-gurdy, - and you will get raw powerful cinematic and deeply atmospheric electronica with punk attitude that touches the inner most part of the human personality and is reminiscent of a tapestry with many different details. They have four independently released, successfully selling albums that have had airplay on BBC 2, BBC 3 and BBC 6. The band has toured internationally in Ukraine, UK and Russia from 2010 and since relocating to UK in 2016 have quickly gained momentum, intensively touring with headline shows in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, Lancaster, Hull and nearly everywhere in between resulting in them having a large number of fans all over the UK and organize their own nomadic festival of unusual music called Cute Owl. "Watch out for: tAngerinecAt... this is some of the most powerful music I have heard in a long time..." - LOUDER THAN WAR "I've never seen someone play a hurdy-gurdy so punk..." - DEVIL'S DYKE NETWORK tAngerinecAt brought not just synth to the table, but a whole range of physical, classical instruments into the mix most noticeably their use of the hurdy-gurdy, to make their music the deep notes of severe doom and dread that gave it the feeling of a rave in a mausoleum...- LEFTLION "Eugene is a fantastic singer, a ranter and belter with occasional glassware-shattering screams. As abrasive noise went, I liked them a whole lot..." - ROCKNERD http://www.tangerinecat.net Ecka Mordecai Ecka Mordecai is a 'cellist who composes and plays with ideas around gravity and the body. With a background in renaissance and improvised musics, performance and sound art, her live shows are dynamic; a merging of melody, song, and abstract form. She has worked and collaborated with: David Toop and Rie Nakajima, Andrew Chalk and Tom Scott, Thurston Moore, Sam Weaver, Kate Armitage, David Birchall. She has performed at the Hepworth Gallery, White Cube (Bermondsey), Islington Mill and Fort Process (Newhaven). She is the art director for Cuspeditions record label. éntha éntha swirls together glitch electronics, lush guitar melodies and infinite noise structures into single crystalline endlessly blooming soundscapes, stitched with deep self-reflection and eternal white light. Great abstraction meets futurism in the éntha's complex philosophy, which truly opens in the live performances, taking audience into never-ending journey through the oceans of thick electric shine and melodic drone... '...one-man shoegazer éntha delivers a wall of guitar noise akin to Kevin Shields or The Telescopes, backed with processed, industrial loops and pads. A tone poem for a near-future dystopia, with twinkling neon melodies struggling to be free from the bludgeoning noise.' - BagThing 'It makes sense that the first time I heard this music I was alone in a field in England, lights from a city illuminating the sky ahead.' - Zen Zsigo (Cremation Lily) https://soundcloud.com/enthamusic Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/993021217535711

She digs deep: “a reverent nod to deeply-rooted ole-time traditions, and an exhibit of sonic heirlooms carefully amended to meet a modern moment with vintage elegance.” American Songwriter. The New Yorker called her most recent solo record Long Time To Be Gone “a disarming collection of traditional laments and exquisite banjo instrumentals.” Nora will perform in a duo with award-winning fiddler Stephanie Coleman. First brought together by Brooklyn’s tight-knit old-time music community, Nora Brown and Stephanie Coleman share a rich musical partnership that belies their 20 year age difference. Stephanie is a master old-time fiddler, having recorded with and toured internationally over the last two decades with celebrated artists including trailblazing all-women string band Uncle Earl. Beginning at age 6, under the tutelage of the late musician and scholar Shlomo Pestcoe, Brown also counts Alice Gerrard, George Gibson, and the late John Cohen, Lee Sexton, and John Haywood among her teachers and mentors. Just nineteen years old, Brown has released three albums, a single, and an EP on Jalopy Records. Across each haunting collection of traditional music, Brown’s playing is lucid, confident, and full of grace. Presented by Please Please You & The Black Swan Folk Club This is an 16+ event
True Strays

True Strays

24 Oct 2025 - 31 Oct 2025

True Stays are lifelong friends, songwriters and country boys – Joseph James and James Cameron – from Bristol, England who are fast carving out a niche of their own in the UK Americana scene. Their music is a cathartic celebration of alternative roots Americana and blues rock. Their songs focus on the dirt that life throws at you and how struggle can be transformed into something better. The prolific songwriting duo draw influences from classic sounds such as Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Fleetwood Mac and modern retro inspired acts like Alabama Shakes, Gary Clark Jr and the Black Keys. From the rock and roll circumstances of their first meeting, in a sand pit in playgroup 30 odd years ago, they have completed countless UK tours, supported bands as diverse as My Baby and Elles Bailey, been jump started by Keith Allen, played by BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 4, played their first European dates, survived 70+ festival shows at prestigious festivals like Green Man, Boom Town, Larmer Tree and Shambala and have been featured on the Spotify’s Nu-Blue and Modern Blues Rock playlists. 2021 sees a year’s hard work behind the scenes coming to fruition. A recent invite to showcase at the prestigious UK Americana Fest, a debut album recorded and a main stage slot at Black Deer Festival all on the horizon. With or without live shows, True Strays are not giving up on their musical calling.

It’s great to be back on the road again after a tough couple of years and we can’t wait to share our music and make new memories at some fantastic venues.” Heron Valley’s music takes inspiration from the beautiful places they have visited as a band, as well as the people they have met. Heathen Apostles

Heathen Apostles

29 Oct 2025 - 30 Oct 2025

Born of the voices of past lives and baptized in the dust bowl dirt, the Gothic Americana music of the Heathen Apostles harkens back to a bygone chapter of American history. Using contrasting influences such as Bauhaus, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Pogues along with Howlin’ Wolf, Loretta Lynn and Bessie Smith, the Heathen Apostles have created a style of music that at once conjures both angels and demons, and will enlighten a darkened soul. Gothic Americana is a genre that is fast taking hold around the world, in that it combines the sub-genres of gothic country & bluegrass, dark blues, murderfolk and depression-era jazz. The Heathen Apostles are amongst the first to inject all four into their incendiary music.

Jolie Holland

Jolie Holland

9 Sept 2025 - 19 Sept 2025

Jolie Holland is an American singer and performer who combines elements of folk, traditional country, jazz, and blues Over the span of her career, Jolie Holland has knotted together a century of American song-jazz, blues, soul, rock and roll-into some stew that is impossible to categorize with any conventional critical terminology. This is her burden and her gift, to know all of these American songs of the last ten decades in her head and her heart, and to have to wrestle with their legacy. She dives straight to the pathos of a song the way the very greatest singers, singers like Mavis Staples, or Al Green, or Skip James, or Tom Waits do. Upon first encounter her songs seem challenging, perhaps unsettling at times, but as so many poets and rockers have shown us (from Dante Alighieri to William Blake to Sylvia Plath to Patti Smith to Nick Cave to Mark E. Smith) that’s where the beauty lies. As evident on her first recordings, Holland apparently has no fear of the truth, and there is no emotional core that she cannot reach in song. In fact she thrives on the red hot centre of a musical composition, in all its strange and brutal detail.

Collaborating with crossover folk band Ranagri, Tony produced a stunning set of traditional songs. Wombo

Wombo

2 Nov 2025 - 7 Nov 2025

The weird world of Wombo is a kaleidoscopic journey of sharp turns and surprising visions, a melting pot of influences with a cheeky cheshire-cat grin that coalesce into a trippy but infinite universe, a portal into their unique vantage point without limitation. Already committed to living outside the traditionally-heralded country sound of the music scene in their hometown of Louisville Kentucky, Sydney Chadwick (vocals) and Cameron Lowe (guitar) had previously played in punk pop band the Debauchees, and with the addition of Joel Taylor (drums) in 2016 they found a winning combination of more straightforward indie rock combined with Chadwick’s pitched up, oscillating vocals and unpredictable shifts in melody that see the band moving forward at an impressive pace. Their 2018 album Blossomlooksdownuponus is a snapshot of Wombo’s wide-ranging aspirations that careen across avant pop, psych and wonky post punk interludes with a sky’s-the-limit approach to translating the mundanity of regular life into their own high-frequency language.

He has worked with a diverse range of musicians, including Baaba Maal, Bjork, Primal Scream, Brian Eno, Sinead O'Connor, Julianne Regan, Delores O'Riordan, Holgat Czukay, The Edge and Chaka Demus & Pliers. The man born John Wardle began his musical journey when he met John Lydon and Sid Vicious at Kingsway College, London in 1973. It was Vicious who not only nicknamed John 'Jah Wobble' after a drunken binge but also loaned him his first bass guitar. Lydon asked JW to join Public Image Limited (aka PiL) in spring 1978. Wardle's distinctive 'low end' bass became the backbone of PiL's pioneering sound. After its follow-up, the exploratory yet sinister soundscapes of Metal Box, Wardle became disillusioned by politics within the band and their reluctance to play live. He eventually split from PiL in mid-1980 and embarked on a prolific solo career. Wobble is joined on stage by drummer Marc Layton-Bennett and Martin Chung.

KEN STRINGFELLOW´s Circuit Breaker 2025 UK & Ireland Tour (Edinburgh)
KEN STRINGFELLOW, multi-faceted artist and producer, has been a fixture of the indie music landscape since forming his band The Posies in 1988, in the first wave of bands emerging onto the international stage from the legendary Seattle scene of the era. The bands penchant for songcraft paired with deftly melodic harmony vocals set them apart from most of their heavy rock peers, but has allowed their music to remain timeless and continue to gain fans decades on. Ken was also part of one of the most revered cult bands of all time - Big Star, the 1970s power-pop legends from Memphis - when they reformed in 1993 after almost 20 years of hiatus, Ken was included as bassist, and retained that role until the untimely death of singer Alex Chilton in 2010. And of course, Ken spent a decade touring and recording with perhaps the most influential indie band of all time - R.E.M., playing multiple instruments and gracing such legendary stages as Budokan, the Hollywood Bowl, and Glastonbury. Ken's numerous collaborations include working with Neil Young, Ringo Starr, Patti Smith, Wilco, John Paul Jones, Damien Jurado, Thom Yorke, Nada Surf, Marky Ramone, Brendan Benson, Mercury Rev, Neumanand many more, Ken's appeared on over 400 albums representing millions of physical sales and countless streams. He's also performed in 95 countries around the globe. As a solo artist, Ken has built up a devoted following with his vulnerable, raw, stripped-down live shows, often performed without any kind of amplification - as well as his rich, orchestral and imaginative albums; Ken's audiences have no qualms with such a dichotomy - in fact, it's the diversity, range and mastery of his craft as well as the absolutely true emotional delivery of the songs that have held audiences around the world in thrall. It's been over a decade since Ken released a solo album, and his new album, CIRCUIT BREAKER (Oct 2024), his fifth, is indeed a grand leap from its predecessors - the raw parts are ever more raw; the tender moments are ever more delicate; and Ken's cosmopolitan sophistication has been distilled into almost cosmic purity. Opening with Trust a deceptively melancholy piano/vocal verse develops slowly into a searing indictment of betrayal and abuse, the album passes through episodes of Jimmy Webb chamber pop (If That's What God Wants), the ecstatic eccentricity of Bowie (The Power Out Song) , a dark noise distillation of the underside of the human psyche featuring spoken word by NY underground queen Lydia Lunch (Waiting) and more. Finding the strength to overcome any obstacle is a recurring theme on this album, and Ken has lived it - it's what gives CIRCUIT BREAKER such urgency, and couples it with hard-earned wisdom. As Ken completes his fifth decade as a musician, performer, producer, writer and more, CIRCUIT BREAKER finds his vision clear, his heart engaged, and his mastery of his craft indisputable. It's the perfect time to connect with this multidimensional, deeply committed, surprising and captivating artist. LAVINIA BLACKWALL trained as a singer at R.S.A.M.D Glasgow before going on to complete her Masters in Early Music with distinction at The Guildhall, London. Lavinia is well known for her work as a singer and arranger in Trembling Bells, who released seven albums, all met with critical acclaim. She has performed and toured extensively through Europe with artists such as Nick Garrie, Kaleidoscope, Mike Heron and Bonnie Prince Billy, as well as being invited to perform her own material live on several occasions at BBC 6Music and at Glastonbury Festival. Her debut album Muggington Lane End was universally well received, earning excellent reviews from publications as diverse as Rolling Stone France, Shindig!, RnR, The Financial Times, Uncut, Moof Mag, The Scotsman, and online editions, Backseat Mafia, Spectrum Culture, and Line Of Best Fit.
