Robert Vincent

Robert Vincent

20 Dec 2025 - 30 Oct 2026

Robert Vincent is one of the most acclaimed new voices on the Americana music scene. Born in Crosby Liverpool, his upbringing inculcated him with a very Merseyside culture of storytelling and language. In 2013 Robert Vincent released his debut album Life in Easy Steps. Critically well received, the title track was play-listed by Radio 2. After meeting Whispering Bob Harris at an event called ‘Bluebird at the Bluecoat’ that brought the concept of the bluebird cafe in Nashville to The Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool, the legendary radio presenter invited Robert to perform a live session on his Radio 2 show and in 2016 awarded him with his ‘Emerging Artist’ of the year award at the inaugural UK Americana Awards show in Hackney London. In 2018 his Sophomore album ‘I’ll Make the Most of my Sins’ was named UK Americana Album of the Year. Meeting and performing with musical director Ethan Johns at the award ceremony would shape his future career. In February of 2018 Robert was invited to perform on the BBC ‘Old Grey Whistle Test, For One Night Only’ closing the show. It was this performance that would propel him to number 1 and 2 in the iTunes Album and Singles Charts. Robert's latest release ‘In this Town You’re Owned' charted at number 2 in the UK Americana Charts been critically praised both in the UK and Europe and USA. At the midway point of the year American Songwriter Magazine named ‘In this Town You’re Owned’ in its top 20 albums (every genre) of 2020 to date. ‘In This Town You’re Owned’ has also picked up Americana Music Association UK Album & Artist of The Year 2021, plus Americana UK Album & Artist of the Year 2020.

Eat Your Own Ears presents Pitou at The Waiting Room. Helen Mccookerybook & Special Guests

Helen Mccookerybook & Special Guests

15 Jan 2026 - 15 Jan 2026

Here's a January 2026 winter warmer in Stoke Newington! In early 2025 Helen McCookerybook launched her album Showtunes from the Shadows with a sold-out gig at The Betsey Trotwood attended by the Radio 6 DJ Gideon Coe, and a host of other luminaries from far and wide. Her songs at that gig were augmented by artists who had guested on the album: Robert Rotifer on guitar and vocals, Terry Edwards on Trumpet, and Jack Hayter on lap steel guitar. The addition of Ruth Tidmarsh (bass and vocals) and Karina Townsend (melodica and vocals) filled out the songs and added a whole layer of vocal harmonies that couldnt be reproduced at Helen's solo gigs. It was a unique event, and this gig will be another unusual one-off. Lester Square (ex Monochrome Set) will be joining the same line-up to play guitar, and there will be a mystery guest to be announced later. More songs from the album will be added to the set, and some of Helen's older songs will be re-vamped with the chance for audience participation (mp3s of the parts will be sent out to ticket holders so you can sing along). As another special feature, support will be from the guest artists: expect musical saw, poignant and funny songs debuted specially for the night, trumpet shenanigans, and who knows what else. There will be vinyl albums and more for sale (please bring cash- it's easier) Come along, join the throng and sing along.
Swansea Sound, the Gentle Spring, Railcard
Swansea Sound will play some of their ill-tempered seasonal tunes, along with other indie hits. The Gentle Spring will soothe and enchant. Railcard will make you feel good about the disco load-out: this event ends at 10pm, cos the venue turns into a club later on. Good food is available in the pub upstairs, with discount for gig-goers.

Dearest Creatures of the Night, We are thrilled to announce our first live acts of the year for 2026! VALISIA ODELL Valisia Odell is the union of Valisia and Aristomenis Theodoropoulos - an electronic duo who have long composed in the shadows, weaving echoes behind the curtain. But now, they step into the light. Distinctive, penetrating vocals entwine with hypnotic, unrelenting Melodies. Rise and behold - a seductive experience awaits. Valisia Odell is a defining figure in Greece's dark electro/minimal wave scene. Aristomenis Theodoropoulos is a visual artist and musician. Captivating, relentless melodies and piercing vocals define their debut album Shadow of a Dream, released in April of 2025 by the Berlin-based Detriti Records, a label renowned for its curation of underground electronic and darkwave sounds. https://linktr.ee/valisia.odell DVPLVX DVPLVX (pronounced duplux) is the project of Canadian artist Tristan Finck, based in Antwerp, Belgium. DVPLVX creates danceable yet ominous synthpop driven by hardhitting drum machines, energetic sequences, and detached vocals. Merging glossy late-80s sounds with a touch of surrealism, the sound is both futuristic and familiar echoes of Darkwave, Minimal Synth, Hi-NRG, and EBM, but uncomfortably beyond the borders of any genre. The Christmas Covers Party 2025

The Christmas Covers Party 2025

17 Dec 2025 - 17 Dec 2025

It's that time of year again... After an absence from the capital of many years, it's the perfect excuse to miss the office party....THE CHRISTMAS COVERS PARTY! Eight Bands Three Songs ALL COVERS (Just the way we like it) Many years ago deep in the mists of time Nottingham promoters Whycan'twejustallgetalong decided to get all their friends' bands to play a Christmas party. Because there were a lot of them, and to make it a bit more interesting, they asked the bands to only play cover versions and to limit their sets to 2 or 3 songs. They christened it "The Christmas Covers Party". Well, you would, wouldn't you There are no headliners - the music has a gradual gradient from 'less party earlier to more party later' and the bands don't tell anyone what they are going to play. Over the years all sorts of red herrings have been planted to throw covers detectives off track. So basically, lots of bands play lots of covers whilst we get drunk, dance around and shout at them. Sounds suspiciously simple doesnt it Almost too simple... Resurrected in 2025, this year will feature bands and solo acts, all to be announced in due course! All profit to Cancer Research, in dedication to the much-loved and missed Understudies band member Becky Dixon, who sadly passed away in June.

The fresh winter's wind in the floor heaving through, motes of dust puff from the Lead Ashtray and proudly extol the virtues of spending time outdoors. Exhale... Exaltations to the ones before and the ones after, in it together forever, feel something, act tender, transfer energy to meaning, in noise we must trust. Before the swamp of microplastics consumes us. Before the MPTL Data servers fritz and staccato signals perforate the night like a hand poke tattoo. As we are left to sift through the debris, the chimes ring out and welcome in the witching hour.

Mumbles + Perfect Binding + Prayer Tech
Delighted to be hosting this London EP launch show for our eternal faves Mumbles! The band have an amazing new EP out called The Mumbles Book of Hell, which the band call 26 minutes of evil, humiliation, and narcolepsy, and we'll be doing a launch show in London with Perfect Binding and Prayer Tech, will be a great night! Were doing affordable basic tickets at £7, a bundle of both the ticket and the tape for £10, and a bigger Full Hellscape bundle of ticket for £15, which includes tape, and both accompanying zines - The Mumbles Booklet of Hell and The Mumbles Dream Dictionary, written by Mumbles Jacob Nicholas and collaborator Harriet Lander. Mumbles new EP The Mumbles Book of Hell rampages through the personal and political, finding heartbreak in world crisis and utopia in friendships. Recorded live, these five songs capture the carnage of the group's famously feral gigs, a savage and yearning map covering everything from bass-clarinet driven doom to fractured slowcore, spasmodic postpunk to hurdy-gurdy ambience. FFO Deerhoof, Squid, Olivier Messiaen, Yo La Tengo, Sunn O))), early music, Claire Rousay, Melt-Banana, Horse Lords etc. Perfect Binding is the recording project of London-based songwriter and composer Sam Bedford, formerly of Cagework. Based around nylon-string guitar, voice, cello and fragments of tape music, Bedford creates songs that feel gently detached and intimate and yet still rich in atmosphere. His debut EP presents a collection of slow-burning, subtly arranged recordings (Counterparts, Damning, Interlude, Virginia Creeper) interspersed with between-the-eyes alt-rock pop songs (Tincture, Still Boils Fast)that make for a an arresting listening experience. The collection draws as much from experimental traditions as they do from folk songwriting. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Robert Wyatt, Colleen, Vashti Bunyan or early Beirut, Bedford's work lives in the in-between, neither lo-fi nor polished, neither throw-back nor contemporary. Prayer Tech is a new project featuring current and past members of Blue bendy, Keg and Pozi. Drawing from the sounds of emo, post-hardcore and psychedelia, the 3 piece mutate clashing opposites together, sincerity and pretence, open guitar and discordant bass riffs whilst sharing a love for financial gains and music. FYI the show is 18+ and the venue is down a flight of stairs so is not wheelchair accessible.
