Zimmer90

Zimmer90

19 Nov 2026 - 26 Nov 2026

We’re Finn and Josch. We’re creative partners, musicians, friends. Zimmer90 is not just a band, but rather this one art project, where all our interests and inspirations unite and build something beautiful. It is a special place for us. What we think is special about our music, is that we create electronic music and mix it with acoustic sounds. When we play on stage, our sound is very different to the sound you hear when listening to our songs. We like to think of it as a journey we’re in together with our crowd. We start somewhere slow and let ourselves just float through the concert, until everything becomes blurry. Most of the time we end up in an electronic disco party where everyone dances and the stage is not the focus anymore.

Since beginning his recording career in 1997, Bird has released 17 albums and performed extensively across the globe. He has recorded with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, appeared as “Dr. Stringz” on Jack’s Big Music Show, and headlined concerts at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and festivals worldwide. Bird performed as the Whistling Caruso in Disney’s The Muppets movie, scored the FX series Baskets, and collaborated with inventor Ian Schneller on Sonic Arboretum, an installation that exhibited at New York’s Guggenheim Museum, Boston’s ICA, and the MCA Chicago. Bird has been a featured TED Talks presenter, a New Yorker Festival guest, and an op-ed contributor for the New York Times. More recently, Bird released a series of site-specific improvisational short films and recordings called Echolocations, recorded in remote and acoustically interesting spaces: a Utah canyon, an abandoned seaside bunker, the middle of the Los Angeles River, and a reverberant stone-covered aqueduct in Lisbon. Additionally, Bird hosts an ongoing series of live-streamed performances called Live from the Great Room, putting the creative process on display for fans as he collaborates and converses with friends in a candid, intimate setting. Shortly after receiving his 2020 Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album, with My Finest Work Yet, Andrew Bird made his professional acting debut in the cast of Fargo’s fourth instalment, which concluded on FX in November 2020 and is currently streaming via Hulu. In March 2021, Bird released his latest project, These 13, an album entirely co-written and recorded with his longtime friend and former Squirrel Nut Zippers collaborator, Jimbo Mathus. Captured live to tape, just the two of them playing and singing from opposite sides of a microphone, These 13 marked the first set of new music that Bird and Mathus created together in more than 20 years. The History Of Folk Horror

The History Of Folk Horror

1 Apr 2026 - 12 May 2026

Explore the shadowy history of folk horror and its connection to ancient customs and rituals on the British Isles. Followed by Q&A. Why do stories of ghosts, witches and shapes in the night continue to haunt our imaginations? What is it about those ancient landscapes, ruined churches, mist-shrouded moors and lonely country lanes which so frequently feature in folk horror tales? In this talk, Professor Marisa Linton uncovers the strange and compelling history of folk horror in the British Isles - from eerie legends rooted in pagan belief to tales shaped by the land itself, its forgotten rituals, sacred sites and unsettling past. Tracing a line from whispered folklore through the chilling ghost stories of M. R. James and Arthur Conan Doyle, and on to Gothic classics such as Bram Stoker’s Dracula, we will explore how folk horror has continually reinvented fear for new generations. From The Wicker Man and Witchfinder General, to modern stories of outsiders stumbling upon remote communities still ruled by “old ways,” the genre has never stopped evolving. Today, folk horror is experiencing a revival, as writers and filmmakers breathe fresh life into ancient legends, revealing that the uncanny is very much alive and thriving in the twenty-first century.

The Dark World Of Wuthering Heights

The Dark World Of Wuthering Heights

28 Apr 2026 - 28 Apr 2026

Explore Emily Brontë’s classic novel and the controversies around its recent film adaptation. Followed by Q&A. After a wave of media attention around Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights, you might be wondering why this story still sparks such strong reactions. Perhaps you’ve followed the controversy, skipped it entirely, or simply remember the novel as one of the great works by Emily Brontë. First published in 1847, Wuthering Heights is far more than a tragic romance. In this talk, we’ll explore how the novel’s Gothic atmosphere, complex characters and emotional intensity reflect the Brontës’ background, their early writings, and the social and political issues of their time. We’ll introduce the novel’s historical and cultural context, explore key themes, and examine how the characters reflect the politics of the era. We’ll also look at the debates surrounding Fennell’s adaptation - asking what makes a “faithful” adaptation, and why filmmakers so often reinterpret this dark and enduring story. Join us to unpack the novel’s enduring influence, its Gothic roots, and the ways its shadows still captivate and challenge readers today. Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat! Follow us on IG @seedtalks Presented by Seed Talks This is an 18+ event

The History Of Greek Mythology: From Mount Olympus To Modern Mystery
From Mount Olympus to Medusa, discover the fascinating history of Greek mythology and its echoes through the ages. Followed by Q&A. For over two thousand years, Greek mythology has shaped Western imagination. Stories of Olympian gods, epic heroes, and fearsome monsters have inspired philosophers and poets, painters and playwrights, filmmakers and fans alike. We’ve seen Homeric epics to the spectacle of Troy and the bold reinvention of myth in Netflix’s Kaos. Every retelling places us in an unbroken chain of storytellers stretching back to antiquity, keeping ancient voices alive in the modern world. But how well do we really know the origins of these tales? In this talk, Dr Shelby Judge explores the great mythic ages of ancient Greece - the Golden and Silver Ages, the Bronze Age, and the Age of Heroes - bringing to life the defining stories and figures of each era. Along the way, the talk asks a deeper question: why have these myths endured? By examining their archetypes, moral tensions, and enduring insights into the human condition, this talk reveals why Greek mythology continues to fascinate, challenge, and enchant us today. Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm - come down early to grab a good seat! Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird

15 Jan 2027 - 19 Mar 2027

Back with a brand-new show Andrew has just supported Russell Howard on his current national tour including four straight shows at The London Palladium. He has also recently supported Rhod Gilbert and Troy Hawke and at The UK Comedy Awards 2023 was voted Comic’s Comic-Best Act. Andrew is always worried or stressed about something. From global events to finding free parking. From a wife hitting the perimenopause combined with two teenage kids, to hanging a wine-rack. How can he not be “on edge”?
Barry Castagnola - The Last Of The Barry
Having become a father quite late in life, in all honestly, he’s just delighted to be away for a few days to get some good sleep (although he won’t be telling his partner that and he hopes she won’t read this. Why would she? She’s not going to be booking tickets to see him). Embarrassingly, he’s got a racist dog, so a break from constantly apologising in the local park is also a bonus. Oh, and he’s furious his parents chose the name Barry. Expect stories about these and other awkward situations in a show packed with laughs. He’d like to point out that he wrote the above (and this) and to be honest, he finds it a bit weird to be writing in the third person. He also thinks it’s presumptuous to say his show is packed with laughs (even though he’s very confident it will be). Why don’t you be the judge and come along? He’d also like to clarify that the quotes below weren’t written by him but by actual reviewers (and an endorsement from Greg Davies). And he’d like to thank you for the time you’ve spent reading this and he hopes to see you there! Presented by Rustle Up Productions
Sylvia Plath, Witchcraft & Radical Poetry
Explore the politics of the witch trials and powerful witch imagery in Sylvia Plath’s poetry. Followed by Q&A. Sylvia Plath is best known for her novel The Bell Jar (1963) and her emotive, striking poetry. She grew up in Massachusetts, close to Salem, a place closely linked to the history of the witch trials. During the 1950s, renewed public interest in these events influenced Plath’s writing and imagination. Plath often used images of witches and witch trials to explore power, identity and injustice. Her poetry reflects her concerns about control and authority in society, while also showing sympathy for those unfairly accused. In this talk, Dr Dorka Tamás explores how Plath connects with witchcraft and poetic language, and how the figure of the witch appears in different forms in her work. We’ll look at the contrast between fictional “evil” witches from fairy tales and the real historical victims who were accused of witchcraft, and punished by patriarchal systems of power. The Skints

The Skints

8 Oct 2026 - 17 Oct 2026

London four-piece, The Skints, have clawed their way up from the depths of the underground punk/ska scene to a unique fixture on the global reggae stage. Drawing influences as wide as soul, pop, grime and hardcore, their original brand of tropical punk has seen them evolve in to one of the hardest working and most respected bands in UK music. Formed while at school in 2007, The Skints hail from the Waltham Forest and Redbridge boroughs of North East London, and they cut their teeth in London's underground punk scene before venturing out of the M25 to play their first self-booked DIY venture and embark on a heaving touring regime across the nation's "toilet venue" circuit. Their latest album "Swimming Lessons", released spring 2019, draws on influences as sprawling as Bad Brains, Michael Prophet, No Doubt, Alton Ellis, Wiley and Weezer. From crushing heartbreak, the impending doom of Brexit, surviving as an independent musician and navigating the weird world of 2019 - all of these are proverbial "swimming lessons" life throws at us. Lyrically their darkest and most introspective release to date, it is also The Skints pushing and blurring the lines of genre to a more extreme degree than ever before. From 8-bit Game Boy influenced dancehall punk-pop to sound system shaking dub, melodic grunge to harmony laden soul and boasting collaborations from the crop of Jamaica's brightest roots stars of today; Protoje, Jesse Royal & Runkus - Swimming Lessons is a musical ride that fully surpasses any confines of sound expected of a group from the world in which The Skints started. Supporters of The Skints include BBC Radio 2's Jonathan Ross, Robert Elms on BBC Radio London, Steve Lamaq and Craig Charles on BBC Radio 6 Music and David Rodigan on BBC Radio 1Xtra.
