StillMarillion are the established tribute to the Fish Era of British prog rock legends Marillion. Hejira is a 7-piece band set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell, mostly from the late ‘70s. A welcome return to LEICESTER JAZZ HOUSE and The Y Theatre of MIKE WALKER and GWILYM SIMCOCK, this time in a trio with Chromatic Harmonica player HERMINE DEURLOO. They met at the Ambleside Jazz Festival in 2019 and found an instant musical rapport. Since then they’ve been performing at venues in the Netherlands like the Bimhuis, and venues and festivals in the U.K. The unusual combination of piano, harmonica and guitar results in a lot of freedom in harmony and performing, while maintaining a very clear melodic story. These extraordinary improvisational talents explore a rich harmonic world that is highly accessible, emotionally engaging and often jaw dropping. This is a new trio with much to explore. GWILYM SIMCOCK is one of the most gifted pianists and imaginative composers on the European scene. He moves effortlessly between jazz and classical music, with a ‘harmonic sophistication and subtle dovetailing of musical traditions’. Produced by his brother Sean Lakeman it went on to become Seth’s first of 6 UK Top 40 albums. It was the 15th anniversary of the album, which includes ‘Lady of the Sea’, ‘King and Country’ and ‘White Hare’, in 2021 which prompted a Deluxe Reissue on Vinyl with bonus tracks. Seth released his 11th studio album Make Your Mark in November 2021. Written during his enforced 18 months off the road, the album features 14 powerful, brand-new songs including the singles Higher We Aspire and title track Make Your Mark which were playlisted at BBC Radio 2. The following year, Seth was part of the ‘Sea Song Sessions’ album released in September 2022 on Topic Records. A collection of British maritime folk songs and sea shanties performed by Jon Boden, Seth, Ben Nicholls, Emily Portman and Jack Rutter.
