Theatre Royal

With nearly 150 years under its belt, the oldest theatre in Glasgow remains a major player on the Scottish scene, acting as home to both the Scottish Opera and the Scottish Ballet. In 2013–14 the Heritage Lottery fund made it possible for the theatre to undergo a major renovation. It reopened in December 2014 with completely redesigned foyers, a new box office, improved bars, more toilets and a roof terrace, plus a dramatically modernist foyer building by Glasgow architects Page\Park. The theatre now contains an interactive exhibit outlining its history and a cafe, Vanilla Black. Our box office at both the Theatre Royal and the King's is open for the advance sales of tickets 90 minutes before any performance and 30 minutes after the start time. You can buy tickets for any show at either the King's or Theatre Royal at both theatre box offices.
