Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel is one of Australia’s most respected musicians. The legendary guitarist has a professional career that spans five decades and continues to intersect with some of the finest musicians throughout the world. ´´I remember early spring, I remember everything…” And early Spring 2001 it was when Proud Mary first appeared on the scene. Proud Mary’s first single Very Best Friend was just a small taste of the infectious songs that the band had to offer – later followed by another limited single in the form of All Good Things. The two singles were just a taster of the band’s glorious debut album The Same Old Blues, produced by Noel Gallagher in just ten days and released on Gallagher’s very own Sour Mash records. The influences of Dylan, The Rolling Stones and The Faces were there to be heard yet at the same time the band had managed to create a Rock’n’Roll record that touched the heart and fed the soul of the current generation. The second album Love and Light included the indie chart hit Mexico and features work from Andy Rourke (The Smiths) and Gordon Raphael (The Strokes). A more experimental album than their debut, the tracks mix soul, blues, gospel and of course good old fashioned Rock’n’Roll.

The Ulster Youth Orchestra (UYO) provides high quality musical tuition, orchestral experience and performance opportunities, not otherwise available in Northern Ireland. Through its residential courses, concerts, outreach programmes and special projects, the orchestra provides young musicians with much-needed access and exposure to the very best professional tutors and the chance to study under established international conductors such as Jac van Steen. This summer's concert opens with a new piece, Journey to the Otherworld, especially commissioned by the Orchestra for the Young Euro Classic Festival in Berlin. Composer Sam Kane was raised on a farm in rural Northern Ireland and began his musical journey playing traditional Irish music before discovering his passion for classical violin and composition - across orchestral, chamber and solo performance. He is driven by a love of musical storytelling and this work is inspired by an old Irish folktale - the Voyage of Bran. Bran sets sail to the underworld, encourages many mythical beings, sails through a 'sea of glass' and encounters strange creatures who accompany him on his journey, only to turn to dust when they set foot on dry land. The next piece is also based on an old Irish folktale. The Children of Lir by Hamilton Harty tells the tragic story of King Lir's four children-Finola, Aodh, Fiachra, and Conn-transformed into swans for 900 years by their jealous stepmother, Aoife. Condemned to spend centuries on different Irish waters, they retained human speech and song until rescued by a monk and a tolling bell. Soprano Rebecca Murphy is heard as Finola, singing a wordless song of weariness and longing. The closing piece, Symphonic Dances, is Rachmaninov's own swansong, being his final orchestral masterpiece. The Symphonic Dances is full of vibrant colour and driving rhythms with an impressively dramatic ending to conclude the evening.

The original Australian ABBA Homage has amassed over 5,800 shows in 78 countries in 39 years. Rod Stephen had previously been working in metallurgical research when at the age of 29 and inspired by legendary New Zealand band Split Enz’s musicianship and theatrics opted for a career change to create a new concept by revisiting the music and fashion of the 1970s. Rod had originally considered basing a nostalgic show on one of three all time top bands, The Beatles, Queen and ABBA but believing that the latter globally encapsulated all that was good (and maybe some not so good?) about the 1970s decided ABBA was ideal to focus his efforts on. A two-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer and multi-instrumentalist, MacArthur “Genius” grant recipient, Pulitzer Prize winner, and composer of opera, ballet, and film, Giddens has centered her work around the mission of lifting up people whose contributions to American musical history have previously been overlooked or erased, and advocating for a more accurate understanding of the country’s musical origins through art. Giddens has released three albums under her own name and two in collaboration with Italian multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi, all on Nonesuch Records. American Railroad, her first album in collaboration with the Silkroad Ensemble, was released in November 2024, and her most recent album, a collaboration with Justin Robinson, What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow, released in April 2025.
