Boo Hewerdine & Yvonne Lyon and Support

10 May 2026 - 26 Sept 2026

Boo Hewerdine and Yvonne Lyon's 'Things Found in Books' project is a book and album of songs written in response to a notice board in Culzean Castle’s second-hand bookshop, which has been littered with things that have dropped out of books. Letters, notes, photographs, old receipts, postcards, and all fragments of people’s lives have been lovingly collected and kept on a board on the wall amongst the bookshelves. Boo Hewerdine is an acclaimed, award-winning English singer-songwriter now living and working in Glasgow. He wrote the song 'Patience of Angels', which Eddi Reader enjoyed international success with in 1995. Yvonne Lyon is among the UK’s brightest and best singer-songwriters. Her most recent album Growing Wild is her tenth solo studio album release. Yvonne consistently combines poignant lyrics with strong, creative melodies, demonstrating a voice that can be both fragile and intense. She has guested on live sessions with Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 and recently completed a master’s degree in Songwriting and Performance from the University of West Scotland. Together, Boo and Yvonne have formed an inimitable songwriting partnership, weaving these ephemeral stories with their own, creating an album full of nostalgia and beauty, hope and longing.

Magical in-the-moment music from a virtuoso duo Profound and eloquent, epic, haunting and dramatic, Masters of improvisation The Ciderhouse Rebellion sees virtuoso musicians Adam Summerhayes and Murray Grainger combine to produce incredible spontaneous tapestries of sound. The pair specialise in creating music in the moment, based on traditional tunes or their own compositions often springing from a single note, key, time signature or emotion. It's this unusually improvisatory focus that is uniquely magical. Their quest is to create music with no conscious thought between conception and playing always searching for the unexpected and the possibility to create a deep sonic narrative that transports the audience. Winners, best Instrumental Album 2022 - Fatea Both Adam (violin) and Murray (accordion) are recognised virtuoso musicians in their own right, touring the world as professional artists. Although the pair only started working together in 2020, they have already released 4 celebrated albums, won Arts Council support, been featured on Folk on Foot, scored a BBC Radio 4 play and played significant festivals across the UK and Europe.
Blackheart Orchestra

Blackheart Orchestra

4 Apr 2026 - 11 Oct 2026

Award-winning British songwriters, composers and multi-instrumentalists Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington are The Blackheart Orchestra. One of the must-see bands pioneering folktronica duo blend musical styles seamlessly sidestepping boundaries to create music huge enough to fill a cathedral. Always producing something beyond all easily marketed genres, their multi-instrumental sonic landscapes have always been too unpredictable and adventurous for the mainstream. Fusing acoustic fragility and pulsing electronica, The Blackheart Orchestra bring together stringed instrument dexterity with 80's synthesisers and clear classical influences. Often mistaken for an eight-piece band on first listen, they are found on stage continuously changing from electric and acoustic guitars, bowed guitar, piano, organ, bass and electronic percussion to vintage synthesisers, omnichord and melodica in a complex choreographed weave of musical moods and textures. One moment their sound is minimal and molecular, the next a mountain-like wall of sound with vast symphonic climaxes. Their four critically acclaimed albums and mesmerising live shows have won them obsessive worldwide fans, plaudits from musical giants and placements on TV commercials and films. Chrissy Mostyn's haunting vocals, the Mike Oldfield-like multi-instrumental playing of Rick Pilkington plus their fearless combination of conventional and unconventional all reflect their self-created universe where art meets sound and words paint pictures that take you with them on their deep musical journey into the human psyche.
