Vaudeville Theatre

The Vaudeville originally opened in 1870, although it' s been extensively rebuilt twice since then, and as its name suggests, for much of its career it's been a home for hi-jinks, shenanigans and general musical-comical fun; an 1875 comedy here was the first theatrical production on record to play more than 500 consecutive performances. Since the 1970s it's also offered more serious drama, including the original West End production of Shirley Valentine. It now regularly alternates between drama, musicals and stand-up comedy, such as the West End transfer of the hit Handbagged. The theatre's toilets are not disabled-accessible, but staff members will accompany customers to the facilities in the nearby Adelphi Theatre, or customers can access the Adelphi on production of a ticket. The nearest Tube stations are Charing Cross (Northern / Bakerloo) and Embankment (City / Circle). The theatre is served by the 1, 4 , 6, 9, 11, 13 , 15, 68, 76, 171, 176 and 188 bus routes.
