The List

Victoria Palace Theatre

The Victoria Palace opened in 1911, and for many years was a variety hall, although it had an early example of a cult hit with Walter Reynolds' 1934 so-bad-it's-brilliant melodrama Young England, a play that inspired Rocky Horror-like levels of audience participation. Since the 1970s it's been the home of musicals, with Billy Elliot the Musical holding court until at least 2015. The nearest rail access is Victoria (Circle / District / Victoria), and the Victoria Bus Station is served by routes 8, 11, 211, 36, 24, 38, 73 and 511. For children and adults with sensory sensitivities, a visual story is downloadable from the theatre's website.

The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway - the story of America then, as told by America now.
