Death in the Theatre

23 Oct 2025 - 23 Oct 2025

Death in the Theatre: Tales of Tragedy and Treachery in the Theatre Join us for a unique evening of mystery and intrigue as we delve into the dark and haunting world of theatre tragedies. Following the success of his book Death in The Theatre, author Chris Wood presents a gripping exploration of tales from around the UK where the unsuspecting have met their untimely demise within our theatrical venues. From grisly accidents, to murders most foul, prepare to be enthralled by this richly entertaining account. 'A must-read for all lovers of the theatre, providing shocks and gasps of horror when real life proves to be more dramatic than any play on stage' - Hugh Bonneville ‘It is a great read and Chris Wood has done a magnificent job bringing to us in such a lively, informative and entertaining way the previously untold story of death in the theatre. We should be grateful. It is a gem of a book.' - John Nettles 'A meticulously researched series of events ranging from the eerily macabre to the tragically unforeseen which have nfortunately occurred inside the very buildings originally intended for our pleasure. The result is ironically highly enjoyable.’ - Sir Alan Ayckbourn ‘Immaculately researched and beautifully macabre. This is a real treat for anyone who is either a fan of the theatre or untimely deaths. I loved it!' - Peter James ‘Finally, a book that proves dying on stage isn't just reserved for bad comedians. It's a tragic art form! Forget about 'break a leg,' this book teaches you how to break the fourth wall—and maybe a few bones in the process. It takes 'dying for your art' to a whole new level.’ - Robson Green ‘An utterly fascinating and unique book. A wonderful document of theatres, their stories and their history. Often shocking and sad but always intriguing. Exquisitely researched and written. It stays with you long after the reading - Bravo!’ - Andrew Lancel
