Jolene: A Country and Western Clubnight at The Grand Ol'Walthamstow Trades Hall
All aboard for the next Jolene country and western clubnight in London Town and E17. And this time we're kickin' up the dust in the grand ol' main hall of the Walthamstow Trades Hall, on a Saturday night. Hold onto your hats as the old place rings to the sounds of the outlaws and the classics, the ballads and the beauties... 'Jolene' is a clubnight built for sitting around with a whiskey under candlelight, reminiscing about occasions like the time when Merle Haggard saw Johnny Cash play his San Quentin Prison set with stripes around his shoulders. It's a night for looking at the disco lights one eye open through the bottom of a glass, singin' every word and kickin' it up on the ol' dancefloor. In our past nights at the Trades Hall, we have also had the privilege of having line-dancers leading a throng. We play everything from The Carter Family to Cash, Dolly Parton to Neko Case and Don Gibson, Hank Williams to Lucinda Williams, Kitty Wells to Glen Campbell and Laura Cantrell, Patsy Cline to John Denver, Tammy Wynette to Taylor Swift, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys to Townes Van Zandt, anything with a sweet pedal steel guitar and drunken fiddle swing, and the ballads of your broken dreams. You are welcome to direct requests beforehand to [email protected]. Advance tickets for cowboys, cowgirls and all can be found here. Doors: 8pm - 1am This night is hard drinking and hard dancing, no novelty.
