An evening with frontman of the Happy Mondays. This is a fascinating insight into life in one of the UK's most loved bands. Shaun Ryder is from Salford, Greater Manchester, where in 1980 he formed Happy Mondays. The band signed to Factory Records and their releases included the two classic albums 'Bummed' in 1988 followed by 'Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches' in 1990. Later Shaun started Black Grape releasing the album 'It's Great When You're Straight.. Yeah'. Following his achievements with both bands he received the 'Godlike Genius Award' from NME in 2000. Shaun also moved into TV taking part in the tenth series of the TV show 'I'm a Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here!' in 2010 where he was runner up. He also went on to have his own TV programme 'Shaun Ryder on UFOs' on The History Channel in 2013. Shaun has recently been a guest on several TV shows including 'Room 101' with Frank Skinner, 'Stars and Their Cars' with Paddy McGuinness, 'The Chase: Celebrity Special' with Bradley Walsh, 'Sam Delaney's News Thing, This Morning and 'Big Star's Little Star'.

Tomorrow's Ghost Festival takes place in everybody's favourite goth destination - Whitby. Known for being the place where Bram Stoker wrote much of Dracula, Whitby also guest-starred as a setting in the book where the main vamp himself first reached our shores via ship. Luckily, you can easily drive to Whitby this autumn and take in some of the best alternative sights, music and markets to delight your dark soul. The Gothic and Alternative markets at the festival are FREE entry and are open between 10AM - 5PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You will need tickets for the events at Whitby Pavilion and any club nights taking place.

Built in 1878, Whitby Pavilion nestles in the West Cliff and has wonderful views over the North Sea and the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey that was Bram Stoker’s inspiration for “Dracula”. The theatre is well equipped with up-to-date sound and lighting facilities yet retains the wonderful atmosphere of its Victorian origins. And can we avoid the potholes? In his brand new tour show 'Fair Cop' Alfie has the antidote to the breakdown of law and order, fake news and the price of baked beans. Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie’s natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie’s angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history. Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police. In his 40s the two universes collided when Alfie made a bid for showbiz success – but unfortunately 30 years of shift-work and being punched in the face quite a lot, had left him with ‘a face for radio’. A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair.

The Great British Bake Off Musical is a warm, witty stage adaptation of the hit TV show, featuring book and lyrics by Jake Brunger and music and lyrics by Pippa Cleary. The Gigspanner Big Band are a unique force in British folk music. Their high-energy, virtuosic performances appeal equally to traditionalists and to those looking for something more experimental, and they have garnered praise from publications as varied as fRoots, The Telegraph and The Wire, where they were described as 'melodically folk-rooted yet open and innovative beyond the constraints of genre' Beginning life as a trio - with fiddle player Peter Knight being joined by percussionist Sacha Trochet and guitarist Roger Flack - the line-up has been expanded to form the Gigspanner Big Band, with acclaimed multi-instrumental duo Edgelarks (Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin - BBC Folk Awards 'Best Duo') and Bellowhead co-founder and melodeon player extraordinaire, John Spiers, joining the fray. As collaborations go, it doesn't get much more mouth-watering than this.

Considered by many to be one of the largest Steampunk events in the U.K., with thousands attending this free to enter event, and it is certainly one of the friendliest! Another exciting weekend is in store at each event with a number of activities, presentations and demonstrations lined up as well as the most fabulous Steampunk Retail Emporium. Family friendly, and free entry too, where grace, style and elegance is the order of the day at the wonderful whimsical world of Whitby Steampunk Weekend, where the past is always in the future. On Saturday and Sunday we offer two Trading Halls filled with the most fabulous and eclectic mix of the finest artisan Steampunk and Alternative Vendors with around 80 of the finest quality Trade Stands in over 14,000 ft of perusing, promenading, parading and purchasing pleasure in our retail, entertainment and music space!
