Harking back to the roots of country rock and blues, with touches of Lynryd Skynrd, Allman Brothers, Little Feat and the ’70s sound of Cash, Young and Dylan, they appeal to the contemporary Blackberry Smoke and Jason Isbell fan bases. They are one of the hardest working bands around, touring and recording their songs of life’s trials and triumphs, in a traditional line up of acoustic and electric guitars, drums and bass.

21 Sept 2025 - 21 Sept 2025

Here at The White Room we pride ourselves on bringing the best & diverse artists from around the local area & beyond upto our lovely little venue so absolutely delighted to announce this fantastically different & exciting band to DH9 CANADIANS IN SPACE Do you remember the good old days, when a song with a dance routine was all the rage? Canadians In Space are from Barnsley, South Yorkshire and have never been to Canada. They are a songwriting duo (trio when live) and perform mildly hilarious pop songs so colloquial or irrelevant that the comedic interjections are often unintentional but necessary. Finalist at the Musical Comedy Awards & Winners of the Songs on the Key of Laugh, comedy song contest. They journey through space and time (mostly time) rediscovering their imagined shared past in a village neither grew up in. They are considered pioneers in the Soap Pop genre, based on the fact they coined the phrase and, in turn, the genre. If you love music and comedy then you are guaranteed 50% satisfaction. We look forward to another brilliant night here in Co Durham
Gabriel Moreno

Gabriel Moreno

29 May 2025 - 29 May 2025

We always try to bring something varied & diverse to the white room & this wonderful artist is more than that.. We the amazing talented Gabriel Moreno to Dh9 for a solo acoustic show Gabriel Moreno is Gibraltarian singer-songwriter, currently based in London. An irresistibly engaging performer, he combines a latin exuberance and passion with a rare lyrical calibre (he is also an accomplished poet, with 12 books published to date). Performing on nylon string guitar and often accompanied by The Quivering Poets, he creates a live experience that has been described as Taberba Folk - at once both energetic and intimate, anarchic and absorbing. He has thrilled audiences across South America, the USA and Europe, including recent sets at UK festivals Wilderness, The Great British Folk Festival, Malmesbury Roots and Folk Festival, Costa Folk Festival, Gibraltar Music Festival, ELY folk Festival, Broadstairs Folk Festival, Rochester Sweeps Festival and Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, and has been championed by the likes of BBC 6 Musics Cerys Matthews, with his sonorous baritone and poetical lyrics often seeing him compared to such luminary wordsmiths as Leonard Cohen,Nick Cave and Bill Callahan. Morenos unique artistic voice lies in the meeting and fusion of different identities. Born and raised in Gibraltar, a British territory bordering southern Spain and just 8 miles from Africa, he has since lived and performed across the world, absorbing influences from music, literature and art everywhere he went. Now considered one of the most compelling and distinctive artists in London's thriving folk and roots scene, he was previously the longtime curator and host of the legendary Lantern Society folk club, and in 2022 was awarded the title of Cultural Ambassador of Gibraltar. Moreno has written five albums since 2015 which have been received with acclaim by most Roots publications in the UK scene. 2025 will see the release of his sixth album, Nights in the Belly of Bohemia with an accompanying packed touring schedule across Europe, as well as a thirteenth book of poetry in that time entitled Gibraltar.

Tom Bright - Solo Acoustic + Support From Matt Fairley
Tom Bright's feet haven't touched the ground these past 18 months. From performing on BBC One's Sunday Morning Live, at Glastonbury Festival and appearing on Sky News to supporting The Libertines, The Leisure Society, Ed Harcourt, Katherine Priddy and Alberta Cross on UK/EU shows, he's toured relentlessly across the continent. Armed with his guitar signed byJohnny Marr of The Smiths and John Squire of The Stone Roses, previous career highlights include performing at theLondon Palladium,Shepherd's Bush Empire,The One Show, multiple live sessions and interviews onBBC Radio 2,5Live,Radio X, opening for the likes ofMystery Jets, Tom Grennan, Richard Walters, Reverend & The Makers and working with the likes ofThe The. He's earned the plaudits of esteemed music champions John Kennedy & Guy Garvey, publicationCLASH Magazine and spent 2 years in Spotify's Most Beautiful Songs in the World with 'If I Met Your Shadow'. Tom is now all set to wind the clock back by releasing an early collection of songs he recorded with legendary producer and punk rock pioneer Mick Jones of The Clash/Big Audio Dynamite and his right-hand man Dirty White, mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Featuring Mick on piano throughout and even Sex Pistol Glen Matlock playing bass, the collection titled Young Old Bloke (abbreviated to YOB') offers a fascinating insight into how it all started music-wise for Tom. Theres rock n roll, big guitar riffs, tongue in cheek lyrics and even a theremin. The title is multi-layered, referring to how Tom felt post-pub landlord days, whilst also referencing working alongside music royalty, seeing that they were all just young old, or older young, blokes. Tom has three previous albums out in the world (all produced by Ed Harcourt). Before his musical endeavours, he was the UKs youngest pub landlord, and is also a former patient of Great Ormond Street Hospital, undergoing a multitude of life-saving operations as a child.
Like A Rolling Jones - Solo Bob Dylan Tribute
‘Like A Rolling Jones’ is the UK's most authentic Bob Dylan tribute, performed solo by the very talented Max Jones. Max regularly performs his Dylan show around his native Yorkshire but rarely ventures up to the North East so I’m delighted he is travelling up to The White Room. Equipped with a handful of harmonicas and guitar, also standing at the same height as the man himself, Max covers all eras of Dylan’s work & I know you’ll not be disappointed. He has the voice & playing style of Dylan & any fans of the original Bob Dylan should not be missing out on this show… trust me!!! Get ready for a knock knock knockout performance when ‘Like A Rolling Jones’ takes to the stage!

With the addition of a new bassist & sax player in 2024 they now have the INXS sound off to a tee & always put 100 percent into every show!!! Fronted by the stunning vocals of Barry Armstrong-Reed, this band is a must for fans of INXS or general good old 80/90s music 2 hours of classic INXS. perfect!!
