As you sink into your seat and relax with a complimentary hot chocolate, award-winning pianist Matthew Shiel will perform favourite Hollywood film music including Gabriel's Oboe (from The Mission) by Ennio Morricone, Imperial March (from Star Wars) and Hedwig's Theme (from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) by John Williams and Prelude and Murder (from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho) by Bernard Herrmann - performed by atmospheric candlelight in our special candlelit chapel setting.
And for an unforgettable grand finale, Matthew Shiel will transport you back in time to the golden era of Hollywood to experience the magic of the silent screen. During the silent film era (1890 -1930) - a cinema pianist was expected to improvise music to accompany the film. Tonight, in keeping with silent cinema traditions, Matthew Shiel will provide a film score to Charlie Chaplin's rom-com "Those Love Pangs" (1914) and "A Trip to the Moon" (1902). "A Trip to the Moon" is the first science fiction film ever made and one of the the most influential films in cinema history.
