The List

Adam Day & Cathy McManamon

Adam Day & Cathy McManamon
Cathy McManamon's first performance as Judy Garland came at the tender age of two, alongside other members of her very musical family. Some twenty years later, after she was spotted singing 'The Man That Got Away' during her residency at London's Jazz After Dark, Cathy was invited to perform professionally as Judy (with added Bing Crosby) with Anthony England & The Jazz All Stars on their tour of the UK and Eire called 'Legends of Swing 2'. It was, in fact, Cathy's love of Judy Garland's songs, and the recent purchase of an album on which Judy Garland sings 'I'm Always Chasing Rainbows, that inspired her to write this delightful cabaret - 'Somewhere Under The Rainbow'. The cabaret not only celebrates Judy's songs, but also those of her daughter, Lisa Minelli, that Cathy still remembers performing to a brush handle whilst listening to her sister's LP, played on repeat, at the family home! Cathy has dedicated the show to her late brother, Tom, whose favourite film was 'Over The Rainbow' and who sadly died at a similar age to Judy. But make no mistake, this show is a delightful and uplifting celebration of Judy Garland's life and of her songs. You'll enjoy favourite numbers, such as 'The Trolley Song', 'Come Rain Or Come Shine', 'It's A Great day For The Irish', and 'Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart'. And, as you would expect, it also includes those songs which mean the most to Cathy - 'Get Happy' and 'Over The Rainbow' - now Cathy's very own signature songs and those by which she lives her life.
