Florence Arts Centre is thrilled to welcome X Factor winner and UK soul/jazz singer Steve Brookstein for a very special intimate acoustic performance this summer.
Steve Brookstein is an English singer/songwriter and the first ever winner of The X Factor with a record 6 million votes in one night that resulted in both a number one album and single. He has completed three UK tours including an arena tour with X Factor and two theatre tours, one of which was with the award winning musical Our House Musical.
From his X Factor days Steve has built up an envious list of fans and collaborators: he has duetted with multi Grammy Award winner BeBe Winans, reggae artist Maxi Priest and jazz award winners Ian Shaw and Liane Carroll. Steve has released three studio albums and is currently working on his fourth. His best-selling autobiography “Getting Over The X” released through Matador Publishing reached Number 1 in the Kindle Biography Chart.
His latest album, Forgotten Man, is his third, inspired by the great soul singers of the past such as Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross. The album also recalls some of the lesser known artists including a beautiful rendition of Hey Girl originally recorded by Freddie Scott and Dark End Of The Street a minor hit for James Carr in 1967. Featured artists on the album are Paul Jones on harmonica and a duet with jazz singer and wife Eileen Hunter.
This will be a very special gig in our intimate auditorium, with Steve’s superb voice accompanied by guitar – stripped back, acoustic and up close and personal. Don’t miss it!
