An event about poetry, placemaking, history and heritage. This event is In Memory of Clair Chilvers. Professor Clair Chilvers was a gifted poet and much loved friend and patron of Cheltenham Poetry Festival. We dedicate this event to her memory. Clairs evocative poetry was inspired by the places she loved. In this fascinating event Robert, (author of eight poetry collections from Seren/Two RiversPress/Paekakiriki Press), talks about his new book The House of Words which asks what houses mean to all of us, and equally, what Morris legacy means to the England of now. Robert also reads across his books. The House of Words brings to life Kelmscotts fascinating history - as a house of expectation and creativity, as well as a house of love and desire - the setting for the tormented triangular relationship between William andJane Morrisand the poet/painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Robert Seatter has won numerous awards and prizes for his writing includingForward Poetry Prize, National Poetry Competition, London Poetry CompetitionandHousman Poetry Prize.His work has been featured on TV, Radio, and even the London buses. He was Chairman of The Poetry Trustwhich ran the acclaimed Aldeburgh Poetry Festival, and is currently Chairman of The Poetry Archive. He is based in London where he works as Head of BBC History.
