Runshaw Music Department Presents: A Midsummers Song: The Fairy Queen & The Sprig of Thyme. An evening of solo and ensemble performance from our music academy students, the programme features a wide range of performances from carefully re-worked contemporary pieces and solo instrumental works to staples of the art music repertoire. Our choir will be performing excerpts from Purcells The Fairy Queen, an adaption of Shakespeares A Midsummer Nights Dream, while our orchestra and selected soloists will be performing a selection of folk songs arranged by John Rutter in his song cycle The Sprig of Thyme.
