When I was asked to play at the NeoAncients festival, my first reaction was, "I don’t DJ anymore." But an idea kept haunting me: what would I like to play if I were doing it? I imagined a set blending my favorite elements of folk horror, folk music, and cult TV with new dance music - seamlessly fused into a night of dancing. Films like The Wicker Man and shows like Children of the Stones, The Box of Delights, and The Stone Tape kept coming to mind. I soon realised that what I wanted to play didn’t exist - so I set out to write it. Blending these disparate disciplines was thrilling. I haven’t had this much fun writing new songs in years! I got back in touch and said I’d love to do it. I’m still immersed in the process - there’s so much I want to do before the night. Expect Orbitalesque music with vocals and tunes from The Wicker Man alongside folk classics (with an electro-techno upgrade - apologies to Lankum and the Unthanks). I’ll include a few of my own tracks that fit the vibe - it wouldn’t feel right to leave out Satan from a folk horror set.
