This is anacademic workshop that will examine the Conservative Party leaderships of Liz Truss (Sept 2022 Oct 2022) and Rishi Sunak (Oct 2022 - July 2024). The workshop brings together scholars with an interest in Conservatives and Conservatism to present papers and develop academic chapters for a collection of analyses under contract with Palgrave. The workshop takes place at the University of Liverpool in the Arthur West Room on July 10th from 9.15am,and is open to researchers at any career stage wishing to contribute to these discussions. The event is organised through the auspices of the PSA Conservatives Studies Groupand the Network for the Interface of Classics and Politics. Places are limited, so please book early to guarantee your place! Admittance is by ticket only. It will hear from a selection of eminent scholars who are contributing to a substantial collection of academic chapters that use statecraft to examine the leaderships of Truss and Sunak across a range of areas relevant to their leaderships. Alongside these contributors, we are keen to invite researchers and/or political actors with an interest in political leadership, conservatives and conservatism, statecraft, or the specific concepts under analysis. Lunch shall take place either onthe beautiful Abercromby Square (weather permitting) or - if wet - in the Histories, Languages, and Cultures Common Room. There are a number of eateries around the venue, including Cafe Nero, 92, Starbucks Coffee, The Law Cafe, The Library Cafe, The Cambridge Pub , alongside a local Greggs, Subways, Co-Op, and Tesco for snacks. General refreshments such as tea, coffee, biscuits, pastries, water, carbonated soft drinks, wine, cider, and beer will be provided throughout the day by the sponsors for the event, the PSA Conservatives Studies Group and the Network for the Interface of Classics and Politics.
