Stephen K Amos: Now We’re Talking comedy review – An effortless triumph

Stephen K Amos is no stranger to Adelaide Fringe and makes no secret of the fact he loves to be here. Opening by simply asking ‘Are you all up for a good laugh?’, he arrives in fine form, takes the microphone in hand and unveils the show’s sole purpose: spreading infectious humour. From growing up in the United Kingdom with Nigerian parents, to the importance of keeping it real in the digital age, there is never a dull moment with a consistent symphony of laughter thundering through the room.

Not afraid to chuckle along with the audience, Amos has his finger on the pulse when it comes to crowd work and the local Adelaidian culture. He makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome, simply by asking what brought them to his show. Through his magnetic energy, Amos has the power to command attention and craft a buzz and he can also take it to the next level and captivate an entire room.  As the title suggests, Amos creates a space where he isn’t merely talking to his audience; he is talking with them. He finds the humorous side in every topic and gives no quarter: expect sore cheeks and bellies from laughing.

Whether you’re a long-term fan or seeing Amos for the first time, you’ll leave in stitches. Amos' masterful engagement and lightning-fast wit, combined with anecdotes of his lived experiences, social commentary, and observational humour, create true joy. Nothing but wholesome fun at an adult level, Stephen K Amos: Now We’re Talking is an evening filled with genuine enjoyment: Amos is undeniably the fantastic, funny friend we all need.

Stephen K Amos: Now We're Talking continues at Woodville Town Hall on March 12, The Box at the Garden of Unearthly Delights on March 14 and Plant 4 Bowden on March 15.
