The Blend By Chivas is back. After a successful first year of masterclasses last winter, Chivas is returning to bring the magic of whisky blending to the people of Glasgow. If you think you know everything there is to know about whisky, think again.

For a chance to learn the craftsmanship of the Master Whisky Blender, get involved in one of these laid back and interactive evenings. You will come away from your session able to impress your friends with your ability to identify the subtle flavours of a range of single malts, then grab their attention by presenting a whisky you have created yourself.

The founding brothers, James and John Chivas from Speyside, first began the art of whisky blending back in 19th century Scotland and Chivas carry on the tradition to this day. They are known for creating the original luxury blended Scotch, so you know Chivas is where you'll find the finest tutors in the art of whisky blending.

In Glasgow, The Blend will run from October at the contemporary Scottish restaurant, Mharsanta, in the heart of Merchant City. Each hour-long session is so much more than a simple tasting. After being greeted by a Chivas expert, you'll be treated to a highball before delving into a guided tasting session, sampling an array of single malts and grain whiskies that showcase varying and distinct flavour profiles.

But that's just the beginning. Once you've learned the ins and outs of hue, taste and process it's time to put your new knowledge to the test. Scrutinise flavour pairings and select the perfect components as you make your own blended masterpiece. If you've done it right, the outcome should be greater than the sum of its parts. Chivas prides itself on bringing together the best malt and grain whiskies into harmonious blends to delight the senses. Perhaps your creation can rival theirs. At the end of the class you'll take home a personalised bottle of your own blend to display, pride of place, at the front of your liquor cabinet.
