Fringe At Nobles to welcome line-up of folk musicians to Leith
The month-long programme includes performances from Jack Badcock and Andrew Waite, Kirsteen Harvey and Lewis McLaughlin, and more
Edinburgh Festival Fringe is almost underway, but plenty of smaller venues are still making big announcements. The latest is Bellfield, which has unveiled Fringe At Nobles, an expansive programme of folk, trad, singer-songwriters, open mics and late-night sessions at Nobles, the Victorian pub close to Leith Shore.
Taking place from Tuesday 4–Saturday 29 August, the shows promise will be either free or low-cost, and feature a run of free sessions on Wednesday evenings and late-night sessions on Fridays and Saturdays.
Tuesday nights will consist of ticketed events priced at £12, and will feature the likes of Jack Badcock and Andrew Waite, Kirsteen Harvey and Lewis McLaughlin, Hector Shaw with Fraser Fifield & Graeme Stephen, and Stewart Hardy & Frank McLaughlin with Fell Line.
Other free sessions include The Shore Trad Sessions at 8pm on Wednesdays, and late-night sessions at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays with Lewis and Frank McLaughlin plus a selection of guest musicians.

‘The result is a Fringe programme with real range: expect polished performances, spontaneous late-night magic, established names, emerging voices and the kind of communal music-making that belongs at the heart of Edinburgh in August.’
The programme joins a strong list of smaller venues assembling strong line-ups during the Fringe. Last week, Pianodrome announced its own Fringe programme, featuring the likes of Dara Dubh & Harry Higgs, who’ll provide a pop-skewed variation on folk music, aided by Dubh’s unique interpretation of harp-playing; the celebrated singer-songwriter Karine Polwart, who’ll be joined by jazz pianist Dave Milligan; emerging soul singer Kohla; Burnt Paw, a singer-songwriter and artist who’s long been a fixture on Edinburgh’s local scene; and stalwart contemporary folk musician Kris Drever.
