Gilded Balloon adds 105 more shows to Edinburgh Fringe line-up
The venue will also return to its Teviot home, after years of renovations left it out of action

Gilded Balloon is continuing to lay the groundwork for a strong Edinburgh Fringe this year with the reveal of 105 new shows, including comedy favourites, live podcast recordings, theatre, cabaret, musicals and the return of a few Gilded staples. The Gilded team will also reopen its Teviot space, which has been sorely missed for the past few years since it closed for renovations.
In comedy, Gregor Fisher, the star of Rab C Nesbitt, Scotch And Wry, Love Actually, Only Child and (perhaps less memorably)The Baldy Man will be appearing for an evening of anecdotes about his varied career. Also in the comedy classics category is Rich Hall, the veteran US comic who’ll be treating audience to some typically grumpy improvisation.
The Guilty Feminist will also be appearing, alongside new shows from Kim Blythe (who was nominated for the Sir Billy Connolly Spirit Of Glasgow Award last month) and Smack The Pony alumna Fiona Allen.
In theatre, Slay is a story of PTSD-recovery in the ‘TikTok trauma-dump era’; Hess is a startling and pertinent portrait of extremism from Michael Burrell; Ostrich is eyeing up the peculiarities of modern dating; and Waiting For Wonka imagines what Veruca, Augustus, Violet, and Mike would be like when they were all grown up.
In music, Siobhan Wilson will be adapting her Flowercore trilogy of albums for the stage, in what promises to be ‘an immersive performance celebrating Scotland’s wildflowers through music and visual art’; Unheard Voices, Unbroken Spirits will explore Scotland’s care system through music; while Antigone: A Town Hall Musical will tell the classic story in a contemporary setting.
Karen and Katy Koren, artistic directors of Gilded Balloon, said: ‘We’re delighted to be putting a further 105 brilliant shows on sale as part of this year’s Fringe programme, with even more still to be announced. This line-up brings together some of the most exciting talent working today alongside the next generation of performers, and truly reflects the breadth and energy of the Fringe.’
The full line-up can be viewed on the Gilded Balloon website.
