The Torchlight Procession will also light up the city once again to help bring in the bells
Plans for 2026’s Hogmanay in Edinburgh have been announced, including a range of live Scottish music, comedy, ceilidh and in-conversation events at McEwan Hall, billed as Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festival Club.
The Hall will be central to the annual Torchlight Procession on Tuesday 29 December, with the Torchlight Procession Opening Event consisting of Blazin’ Fiddles, Pipe Bands, and the South Mainland Up Helly Aa’ Vikings to warm up audiences ahead of the Procession.
Following the Procession, attendees will be able to return to McEwan Hall for further entertainment at the Opening Night Event, where Blazin’ Fiddles will host a night of high-energy music along with special guest vocalist Karen Matheson.
Rob Dickson, director of industry and events at VisitScotland, said: ‘The Torchlight Procession is such a special event, and we’re thrilled to support it once again. Hogmanay is a defining moment in Edinburgh’s winter calendar, bringing communities and visitors together to celebrate the new year while showcasing the city’s rich culture and traditions.'
On Wednesday 30 December, McEwan Hall will play host to the multi-award-winning singer and musician Julie Fowlis & Band as she celebrates 25 years in music.
Closing out the Hogmanay celebrations is Muckle Be Light, Michael Pedersen’s cultural chat show and performance extravaganza, which will feature appearances from singer and activist Charlotte Church, poet Hollie McNish, and award-winning presenter Gordon Buchanan.
Already announced for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay are The Fratellis for the Night Afore Party on Wednesday 30 December. Finally, Underworld will bring in the bells on Hogmanay with a live soundtrack on Thursday 31 December.
