Mercury Prize with FREENOW announced its shortlist last week, with 12 albums competing against each other to be crowned album of the year. The beauty of the Mercuries is that anything can happen; niche acts like Shygirl could win out against rock titans Arctic Monkeys, mainstream dance pioneers like Fred again.. could share a stage with jazzy noisemakers Ezra Collective, Jessie Ware could scoop up the prize and plant the flag for disco pop.
