Jenny Sturgeon & M G Boulter

Jenny Sturgeon & M G Boulter

9 Sept 2026 - 9 Sept 2026

Jenny Sturgeon and M G Boulter have been pen pals since 2021, maintaining the ebb and flow of a musical conversation between their respective homes on Shetland and Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Both established songwriters in their own right they cemented their collaboration through the Shetland Songwriting Festival, where they were both tutors in 2022, as well as sharing mutual musical friends and becoming label mates on the indie folk label, Hudson Records. Those catch-ups, held online across months and years, led to the quiet creation of a collection of songs which will be released in 2026. The songs reflect the topics that naturally came up in their conversations, from meditations on travel ('Holding Patterns') and family ('Jason') to idle talk about trips taken and wonders seen ('Flint Knapped'). In between touring, recording and their daily lives, the songs were pieced together from melodies rushed onto voice memos or fragments of lyrics emailed to each other for revision and tinkering. The songs are the culmination of all this work in the moments between the busyness, when two songwriters had time to sit and see what they could make of the world. Tom McRae

2 Oct 2026 - 1 Nov 2026

British singer-songwriter Tom Mcrae, along with his regular touring musicians ‘The Standing Band’, has been quietly moving up the ranks of the most respected songwriters in the world today after releasing 7 critically acclaimed studio albums over the last 15 years and writing for a variety of artists and singers. Mcrae’s eponymous debut album in 2000 was nominated for a The Mercury Prize, a Q Magazine Award, and a Brit, and the subsequent two years of touring cemented his reputation as one the most entertaining and powerful artists touring today. Mcrae’s second album, Just Like Blood, released to wide acclaim, with every track being licensed for TV and film use, his style of music fitting perfectly the darker output of LA’s film studios. Since then, Essex-born Mcrae has released five more albums, relocated internationally three times and set up his own label Buzztree Studios in Cornwall- and there’s no sign that he’s going to be slowing down anytime soon. Mcrae and his tour mates, The Standing Band, a collection of incredible musicians and loyal friends, released their latest record ‘Did I Sleep and Miss The Boarder’ this Autumn. The album and its accompanying tour have further added to the cult that is rapidly springing up around this talented and dedicated artist and his ragtag band. For an artist working in a genre often considered by the music press to be ‘sensitive and self-indulgent’, Mcrae possesses the talent to blow the roof off a venue with his passionate performances, as well as the innate ability forge a strong humorous bond with his audience.

For the most part I just sat back and enjoyed the music as it unfolded. I have known Ryan and his music for many years, and it has been wonderful to witness its continuous evolution. On this recording you can hear his ability to inhabit the tunes fully and let them speak with honesty and depth. This is a deeply felt and soulful recording, drawing on both Scottish and Irish traditions.”

The RTE Folk Music Awards nominee billed by Hot Press as "One of Ireland's Best Emerging Songwriters" was born and raised in the Aran islands Gaeltacht which influences his Celtic, Folk, Contemporary music and a place that has produced well known Irish writers Liam O’Flaithearta, Máirtín Ó’Direáin and Breandán Ó’hEithir, Padraig is proudly bilingual both as a conversationalist and a songwriter and writes and sings meaningful songs on guitar and piano in Irish Gaelic and English. With influences from Enya, Emmyou Harris and The Eagles to Van Morrison, Sinead O’Connor and Richard Thompson, Padraig appreciates strong songwriting with a distinct point of view. When 'Making Sand was nominated for "Best Original Song" at the RTE Folk Awards, it helped establish Padraig as one of Ireland’s finest contemporary songwriters, in both languages, with plaudits from Hot Press magazine and Folking.com. On it’s release, ‘Making Sand’ spent four weeks at Number 1 on the RTE Radio 1 Airplay Chart and Padraig is a regular in Irish language media Raidió na Gaeiltachta and TG4. Padraig’s show consists of authentic Irish and English language original songs about life in the west of Ireland and his other observations. He plays either solo or with a band which sometimes includes legendary musician Anthony Thistlethwaite (when he's available from his band The Saw Doctors). The themes of his songs translate well in regions where he has toured which share a ‘minority language’ connection such as Mid North Wales, Friesland and Euskal Herria. On the release of his second album ‘These Shores’ Padraig spent 2025 playing Festivals such as Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Folk Alliance in Montreal (representing Culture Ireland) and the St Patrick’s Day Festival in Dublin as well as playing Dublin and Kilkenny TradFest. TV Smith

TV Smith

14 Apr 2027 - 14 Apr 2027

TV Smith was founder member, singer and songwriter for the Adverts, who formed in late 1976 and were one of the leading bands in the first wave of British punk rock. In early 1977 they performed regularly at the newly-opened Roxy Club in London, and gained cult success with the Stiff Records single "One Chord Wonders." Their next release, "Gary Gilmore's Eyes" became a top twenty hit record, leading to radio and TV appearances and extensive media interest. A further single, “No Time To Be 21,” also entered the charts, and the band spent the rest of the year playing live, including major tours with The Damned and Iggy Pop. The album that followed in early 1978, "Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts," is still considered a genuine classic of the era and is often cited as one of the twenty best punk albums ever released. The Adverts released one more album, “Cast Of Thousands,” before they split in 1979. Slammed by the critics at the time, the album was later re-released to universal acclaim, and described by Mojo magazine as “the long lost punk album that rivals The Clash’s ‘London Calling’.” After The Adverts broke up, TV went on to form TV Smith’s Explorers, who gained a UK chart hit in 1980 with the single “Tomahawk Cruise,” then at the end of the ’80’s formed Cheap, who payed many gigs in the UK and Europe, and released one album “RIP - Everything Must Go.” In the early ’90’s TV turned his hand to solo gigs at the suggestion of punk poet Attila The Stockbroker and released the acoustic-inspired album “March Of The Giants”on the Cooking Vinyl label. Since then he has established himself as the leading solo performer of the punk rock scene and has released many albums. He has also been involved in a number of collaborations with other bands, most notably with German superstars Die Toten Hosen, who performed as TV’s backing band on the album “Useless.” TV most recent album is entitled “Handwriting,” and was released in April 2024 on the Easy Action label. Recorded in collaboration with renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist Gerry Diver, the pair created a record with a thrilling totally new musical landscape using no conventional rock instruments. Many critics called it the best album of his career, and following its success TV is already working on new songs and planning a new collaboration with Gerry for future release. Fiercely independent and proudly embodying the original spirit of punk rock, TV performs as an acoustic solo artist all over the world, as well as playing occasional gigs with backup bands. Over the past few years he has supported Stiff Little Fingers, the Damned and Ruts DC on major tours in the UK, and played headline tours throughout the UK, Europe, the U.S.A and Japan. In 2025 he set off on a world tour which included the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Ireland, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and North America, and he already has many gigs planned for 2026, including a tour of Australia. The Poozies

The Poozies

22 Oct 2026 - 6 Nov 2026

The Poozies first burst onto the folk scene in 1991, when folk music wore elaborately patterned woolly jumpers and was only seen in dingy back rooms and very late at night on BBC2 - yet from the word go they were breaking out and happily exploring the musical universe. The folk scene was then, as now, very male-dominated and so it was a conscious decision back then to be an all-female band. The name came from a den of iniquity frequented by Robert Burns, called Poozie Nancys, and there is some debate amongst the four founder members as to whether the now-obvious meaning of Poozie was realised back then but the feeling now is that its pretty rock and roll!!As with all bands that have been on the road for so long there have been various line-up changes, and although its probably fair to say a male may feel its slightly strange to be in a band with this name, there has also always been a natural choice of who will join the band and these people have also just so happened to be female. Throughout the years The Poozies have toured worldwide and attracted recognition and appreciation for their eclectic choice of material, unusual and exciting arrangements, and heart-tugging vocal harmonies.

Kyle Falconer (The View)

Kyle Falconer (The View)

23 Oct 2026 - 7 Nov 2026

Kyle Falconer has always been a songwriter who has been inspired by a female muse. From his chart-topping success with The View through to his acclaimed solo career, his storytelling songs have explored the good times of love and lust; the bad times of regret and heartache; and stories of some of the larger-than-life characters who have stepped into his life, alongside some playful fictional narratives. Recently crowned with the King Tuts Songwriting Award at the Scottish Music Awards, Kyle brings the best of those songs together with The One I Love The Most which will be released on February 7th ahead of Valentines Day. The album is a collection of songs from his vast back catalogue, all of which are named after women and have been newly reworked in acoustic form. Named after a lyric taken from The View fan favourite 5 Rebeccas, The One I Love The Most features songs spanning almost two decades: from the unrequited love of Claudia (from the bands #1 debut album Hats Off To The Buskers) through to the lovelorn Dixie (the original of which featured on last years Top 10 return Exorcism of Youth). Along the way, the album also reinvents highlights from his two solo albums No Thank You and No Love Songs For Laura, which often tackled more complicated themes: Laura shares regrets for his past behaviour and the impact it had on his then-partner and now-wife Laura Wilde, to the issues of gender identity addressed in Kelly. A far lighter moment comes with Madonna, a playful, celeb-heavy imagining of what the ideal afterlife might be like, while Manchester rapper PROSE adds his razor-sharp rhymes to an otherwise stripped-back Lucy. The albums lead single and brand new track Angelina is an instant highlight and will be unveiled on December 20th. Dramatic percussion and sweeping string arrangements creates an intense cinematic atmosphere to match a story of a relationship which has been ruined by conflicting perceptions on what the truth really is.

Jill Furmanovsky ‘Rebels And Renegades’ - Stirling Photography Festival
Jill Furmanovsky’s first portrait assignment was in 1974, photographing a young Stevie Wonder for the Melody Maker when one of their regulars was ill. She developed a strong working relationship with Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis and was invited to document ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ tour in 1974 – her relationship with Pink Floyd and individual band members is still strong and fruitful to this day. She soon began working with other music publications including Sounds, NME and Record Mirror documenting the shifting tides of music in the form of punk, new wave, ska and reggae with bands such as The Clash, Bob Marley, Generation X, The Ramones, The Police, Madness, Blondie, The Runaways, Joy Division and many more whose images are in the exhibition along with some classic shots of The Slits, and Sid and Nancy in the dressing room at a Ramones concert. With the launch of The Face and the changing nature of press shots for the industry, the 1980s saw Jill acquiring a studio and a new set of skills, photographing the stars of the new wave such as Boy George, The Beat, Soft Cell, Adam and The Ants, Wham!, Japan, Fine Young Cannibals, Spandau Ballet, emerging female stars such as Joan Armatrading, Kate Bush, Grace Jones, Bjork and Amy Winehouse, alongside established acts like Annie Lennox, Siouxsie (of the Banshees) and Patti Smith. Also included are those seminal influences on the era – Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop and James Brown. Jill’s work has led to long-term working relationships with the likes of Chrissie Hynde / The Pretenders and Oasis both of whom she directed videos for in the 1990s. Jill’s book The Moment: 25 Years of Rock Photography (1995) is a seminal work in the genre. Oasis – Was There Then: A Photographic Journey (1997) followed. The book Oasis at Knebworth (2021) was on the Sunday Times bestseller list. In 2025 Thames and Hudson published ‘OASIS – Trying To Find A Way Out Of Nowhere’ – which Jill co-authored with Noel Gallagher. Jill has won many accolades for her music photography and in 2024 received three awards in 2024 – Amateur Photography Magazine gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award and the digital media and photography platform So.Co’s Image and Music Award made her an official Legend for her contribution to music photography. She was also honoured with the ICON Award at the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards. A documentary about her remarkable archive, The Invisible Photographer, will be released in 2026 and includes exclusive footage and images from the Oasis Live 2025 tour, and contributions from Sting, Nile Rodgers, Chrissie Hynde, Noel Gallagher, Nick Mason and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and others. The exhibition has been curated by Rock Archive in association with Street Level Photoworks.
